Is it worth paying more money to get Nvidia’s RTX 3070 graphics in your next gaming laptop, or can you save some cash with the cheaper RTX 3060? I’ve compared both in 17 games at 1080p & 1440p resolutions to find out all the differences! to me the 3070 is basically a rip off on the 3060 because i tested both and the 3060 is more better for performance in gaming and other stuff
3070 on the other hand is just a waste of money and not but just faster gpu nothing special not hating just my opinion
Tbh the only reason I believe rtx 3070 is better for me is its vram, I game a lot, but also I develop machine learning models, and 8gb vram is just a lot more able to handle large ml models, as well as training them easily.
Love your detailed work. Thanks for putting in the effort mate! 😊✌🏻
I'm genuinely sorry for my earlier comment (it was rude) 😞
The average player couldn't currently tell the difference.
Can I get some advice on which one of these is a better buy?
Maingear Vector 17, $1299 (6900HX, 3070Ti, 1440p)
Pro : Really huge discount, 3070Ti, 32gb RAM, 1TB m.2
Con : No MUX; will currently not use external monitor given the size (but will again at some point); not sure how much DLSS will help with that 1440p panel
Asus TUF A15, $999 (6800H, 3060, 1080p)
Pro : has MUX and max wattage 3060, so I'm making the most out of that 3060; 12700h faster for photo and video editing (not a pro though so not a priority, I just need it to not practically be frozen that I can't even change tracks on Spotify while doing HDR etc); can charge via USB-C, so if I just haul it for editing photos on the go I can make do with a GAN charger
Con : 16gb, 512gb; can't tell if it's just one stick of 16gb or 2x8gb
a. Desktop motherboard died a month ago (current sales vs CES info on prices and not gaming for a month, so no, can't wait)
b. Need something transportable for upcoming move (by plane, so building a new desktop and U-Haul aren't options)
c. Most important games that will be played on it: Total War games, so more render cores and VRAM preferable;
d. Some FPS including multiplayer but only casual gameplay (mouse click to gunshot on screen latency not as important, just ping)
e. 32gb might be useful to me - apart from photo and video editing, my current Win11 laptop just has bursts of RAM usage on some days and for days on end just before I get a prompt for a new Windows update; then that RAM consumption behavior goes on for a day or two after (I'm assuming this is Microsoft using my machine to seed the update to other machines at that point)
TLDR: Is 3070Ti but no MUX still a better buy than 3060 with MUX with half the RAM and storage capacity? (neither have a power handicap as far as laptop chips go)
I have Legion 2021 model with 1080p screen and 3060. It becomes outdated so fast. So many changes: 1440p resolution instead of 1080p, 4000 GPUs, DDR5 memory. I guess, 4060 will be able to run 1440p 60fps on ultra in all games and will be faster than 3070. Plus DLSS 3.
I'm looking between a Legion 5 pro with either 3060 or 3070ti. They are both listed with 140w tgp, but will the 3070ti reduce battery life? The 2 models have a $200 difference between them (though the 3070ti comes with 1tb ssd rather than 512gb). If anyone has in put for which I should get I would really appreciate it
3060 is a monster
TY very much! It was hard to find a proper review - usualy people takes something like 11800/16G/3060 vs 12900/32G/3070 and try to do some tests :)
Great review!! I'm stock between MSI GP66 Leopard 15.6" Gaming Laptop - Intel® Core™ i7, RTX 3080, 1 TB SSD
LENOVO Legion 5 15.6" Gaming Laptop - AMD Ryzen™ 7, RTX 3070, 512 GB SSD
🤦🤦 400f different price
For 15 frames ain’t no buying any 3070 too expensive for the price. 3060 It is, cheaper! Thanks for the benchmark!!!❤❤
4gb ram gaming laptops should be removed, even budget, low end, poor laptop shouldn't have that.
any of these laptops will be a great upgrade for me since my laptop is almost kicking the bucket and was around since 2012
The Legion 5i with the 3070 is an extra $380 Canadian over the 3060, and I personally can't justify that price increase.
Spending $1610 on a Laptop has already been a big enough financial decision as it is.
I don't play modern games and even if something did catch my eye I have no qualms with playing on a lower quality graphics setting.
I think I've made the right decision here. Only time will tell!
I just paid $650 for a laptop with: Ryzen 5 5600H, 8gb 3200 (I have a another spare 8gb 3200 to throw into it), 512gb M.2, and a 3060. Yay for Black Friday.
My 3060 seems to be an updated one with 140w which is stronger than both of these two from the video. I'm pretty happy about that.
I was going to go from 3050TI to a 3060 until the price went up by $400. Dells g15 series laptop was $400 off only on the 3050TI model.
12500h with 3060 for 1000 Euro
12700h with 3070 for 1300 Euro?
What about the Helios 300 with 3060 140w or aero 5 with 3070 ti with 130 what would it be better ?
