Open Secrets is a documentary series that looks at just this—secrets lived out in the open, things everyone knows about, but no one will talk about—until that moment when it becomes fully exposed to the world. Each episode visits a different country, looking at a single secret and exploring why the issue remained a secret for years despite existing out in the open. What has allowed these secrets to fester in the open for so long? For some, the reason is a risk, that blowing the whistle can be deadly. For others, it’s a privilege, that they benefited from the secret staying such for too long. This series is about the insurmountable control those in the corridors of power have in societies—till someone decides to risk it all to take them head-on. My first time to Thailand was COBRA GOLD back in the early 80s been there hundreds of times since. Some things NEVER CHANGE, Such as CHEAP LABOR!🥱😏
Australia is a country that was built upon slaves. Thailand is the only asian country that has been able to hold onto their nation. Its tough for everyone but have faith that change is here
I lived in thailand for 6 years & I cant absolutely say this video is total garbage for clicks & views.. too long to put it in a comment but vice defs disappointed me to a level I'll never watch another video from them.
such a beautiful country, and somebody often look at the dark side, kos they are so dark people.
You know what I don't understand they say here and talk about how everybody knows. Fucking do something about it. Why does it fall on the US. I don't understand that. If there is a way to make money people are going to be exploited. But it's going on in your own country. You can't blame the US in Europe because your own people have decided to enslave people to catch fish. That's a problem with your government. You can't put that on nobody else. That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard of oh well if you didn't eat fish we wouldn't have slaves. Yeah you would because your people would find another way to exploit the poor. You're selling your own kids over there. You abuse him on web cameras sell them to the highest fucking bidder. Thailand's always going to be like that it's always been like that. Y'all just have that nature you're very money driven even the poor. You want what you can't have, you blame everybody else. It's nobody else's fault but yours that you're people are being enslaved by their own people and that your government's not doing anything about it. You don't get to blame no other country for that. You need to start looking in the mirror instead of trying to cast blame on everybody else. Because until you and your people realize hey this problem is starting at home. If we did something about it here maybe changed our mindset on how people view money and it's importance and put more value on human life. Then maybe that shit wouldn't go on. Because in Thailand your view money over human life. You're willing to exploit a child as young as 3 months old for sexual activities that you wouldn't expect out of a grown ass woman and you do it for $8. So don't sit here and tell me it's everybody else's fault. Y'all's mindset is fucked bro. And no that's not just from desperation of being poor cuz we got poor people here that wouldn't do that shit. It's the way y'all think. You outlive your means you are constantly chasing something that you think is owed to you. And you value it above family unity and human life. And when you do that what the fuck happens? You get human trafficking and human slave trade. But guess who's doing it is at the Americans or anybody else? No it's Thai people doing it to Thai people. It's the same thing with the African slave trade when that was going on. Do you know that Europeans got that idea from black people themselves in Africa? Do you know who was the first slave owner in the States? Anthony Johnson he was a Angolan who got the ideas from the Africans and was the first one to do it in freaking Virginia. But everybody so quick to blame the white man. Everybody was doing it then. And since it's been abolished guess what's still going on in Africa? Slavery. Same with the Chinese and stuff like that slave labor. You're doing it to your own freaking people and you want to blame everybody else. It's not everybody else's fault it's not everybody else's problem. Do we feel bad for you? Of course we do nobody wants to see that go on. But you don't get to blame everybody else man. Fix your house fix what's going on in your country man. It's disgusts me the way these documentaries are made like for real. You so quick to put the blame on somebody else anybody else other than yourself. And instead of doing something about it y'all running around with goddamn video cameras but you're not doing anything about it no argue? You think people give a shit they're sad for all the 5 minutes and then they move the fuck on. Because that's life. You think people give a shit where the fish they eat comes from? Even if they knew it wouldn't stop anything. You know why? Because they're doing it to their own people. It's hard to feel bad for somebody when you find out that they're the ones doing it to each other. I mean really
The saddest thing about slavery is there are nothing new and no one really care
also all the hotels built by myanmar underpaid labour, and in factories, canneries, plantations...
I'm confused... why are they worried about the way in the middle of the sea... the owner of the boat has to sell his catch first, its works like that in the USA... also, not every boat is like this is it? killing people if they don't work
I'm sure white people are complicit in some way. Vice will make sure of it. I just don't have time to watch the whole video lol
Why did you interview those white people in this context? to lecture brown people and point a finger at them? Nasty!
so very sad.... one of many reasons i rarely eat fish although i love it
I guess I'm not eating Oceans tuna anymore. Just checked where it comes from.
Let's not forget the thai military who were exposed in human trafficking for slave labor. Only to have the reporter and his wife arrested by thailand
"It takes money to have justice". Something not enough people know. It's not that the system is stacked against anyone, it's that you can pay for advantages like good lawyers, investigators, and delays.
Some of the boss are Indonesian??! Usually we were the victim on many of slavery scenarios. What happened here O my Lord. I'm so ashamed and sorry coz I'm Indonesian.
