The Light of Dawn tells the story of Operation Overlord. It traces one of the largest military operations man has ever conceived since the summer of 1941 - when Churchill and Roosevelt first broached the issue - to June 6, 1944. He deciphers the strategy of 'Hitler to make it fail. The film recounts this crucial turning point in World War II where questions of geopolitics (the difficult alliance between London, Moscow and Washington), the various military strategies and technological prowess as well as the fate of the young soldiers who attacked the wall of the Atlantic will pay a heavy price. The landing will be told here in the style of a play with its intrigues, its dramas, the art of bluffing and the fate of the world being played out. Entirely written with archival footage remastered and colorized, this 90-minute film written and directed by Jean-Christophe Rosé was produced for France Télévisions as part of the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings in June 2014. This film was produced by Kuiv Productions. 00:00 The June 6, 1944 03:07 The Tehran Conference, 1943 05:42 Atlantic Wall 28:17 Desmond O'Neill 28:46 French Francs 45:40 Omaha Beach 53:26 Sword Beach 58:04 Juno Beach 01:03:28 General Montgomery 01:09:55 Charles de Gaulle 01:24:14 Winston Churchill
It worked also because many soviets died at Stalingrad. Don't forget that.
Stalingrad was the turning point of this war.

Otherwise, good doc
.
I don`t think I ever noticed that the ships during WW II were painted in a sort of camouflage pattern until these colorized films. This was a really well done documentary. Top notch. Great narration, filmwork, Thank you for posting.

The dead should not be blurred, irrespective of the destruction that was upon their bodies. Historical examinations of war must be brutal. It must be confronting. It must be upsetting. If we allow depictions of war to be sanitised, we enable our youth to think that war is a game. In this way, we are no better than those of 1914.
it's amazing how, when you compare the two eras, modern "sensibilities" mean that we have to shield the audience from people being burned alive, and in past generations it was an attitude of "this is what it is...suck it up and learn the horrors of war and don't do shit like this any more!!!" sometimes i think youtube has its head stuck really far up the brown and stinky
Monte coudn't seem to take significant risks on D DAY, had to have crushing superiority to succeed...Not quite the ringing endorsement of the wonder boy of the brits. Face it, Monte wasn't all that...Patton wasn't perfect either...but both of them tried their best, through their impervections. (and no, that's not a mistype, lol)...Hind sight is 20 20, but i doubt, seriously doubt, that any other allied generals could have managed such a far spread operation better. Bigger equals clumsier and buggered.
Pixelated ? Why?
Kids these days should see what "real death" looks like. It's not a video game where if they lose they get to start again. This is what happens when people go to war and kill each other.
Lost a lot of future great minds during these wars. Its a shame most of em didn’t get to see their potential
Wouldn't have been me fighting the Illuminati war I would have told them the fuck off.... I ain't killing nobody
Против союзных войск воевало 28 германских дивизий. Против Красной Армии 250 дивизий.
All this, and one man responsible. Never made any sense to me. I fear nothing has changed,
I have to say that our Chinese fighters also contributed to the second world war by fighting Japanese. Respect to all heroes who fought for Justice and freedom.
0UJYYkK4d8s&t=1h11m21s 1:11:21 That is so pathetic, letting the French general strut around like he did something. Lame.
Monty was a pompous ass……..
No Patton?? Wtf
Vous êtes des héros, des vrais, merci pour votre sacrifice. Que Dieu vous garde. 💙🤍❤🤚
