Human conflict and politics aren't irrational. People simply have different goals, which often are incompatible with one another. If Neil deGrasse Tyson thinks his goals are more worthwhile than Mitch McConnell's, then he needs to participate in politics and conflict. There is no such thing as being "above politics", you are a part of the system, not an observer.
Neil DeGrasse Tyson is a national treasure.
I just ordered a signed copy of this book for my mom’s 80th bday. Every year she when asked what she wants she replies “world peace” this book is gonna be a close second. 🌈🌎 Thank you NDT!!!
...a walking leaf insect is a plant by about 99 percent of classifications, and ET is literally a walking leaf insect in the flesh...
Neil deGrasse Tyson: I endeavor to make Science ... poetic. [ Listen to the poem titled, Earth. ]
A man that never let his childhood curiosity die by the hands of the grind of adulthood. Love this guy!
Now promoting the concept of "impact basins" (AKA Carolina Bays, Nebraska Rainwater Basins) that were formed via a Comet Impact into glacial ice covering what is now the State of Michigan.... Really happened. One bad day. 12,900 years ago. ~~~. Just imagine. ~~~ Check it out Neil !
One can start on their quest to acquire a cosmic perspective firstly by pulling one's own head OUT of one's own arse.
That alone widens the view. Plus the smell is better, and the world isn't such a dark, stinky, horrible place as you have supposed all these years.
I love how stephen cuts Niel’s monologue short cuz that magnificent bastard can go on and on in my ear and id never tire. I’d ask for an extra 30 hours on top of my 100 hours of conversations with Niel ❤ (Edit: “Neil” For f***s sake I suppose my comment isn’t authentic enough anymore is it? lol)
I admire this man greatly.
The issue I have deep in my heart are his sexual assaults against younger women a few years ago. Although it doesn't sway how he makes me feel about the cosmos and the wonder of and really am thankful for his input into the understanding of our universe..
Also in 1971 Medicines sans frontiers (Doctors without borders) was founded…
Get it, they didn't see any demarcations of borders with that earth photo.
We need one billion NEILS in the world
The same thing happens when you see a ufo. Your cosmic perspective changes you forever. You might not understand it until you see one. If you have seen one please give me a thumbs up.
NDT is the best teacher we can aspire to have.
Always love his appearances anywhere although I get it, sometimes he's "a bit too much" with his over-energetic style. But he's the salesman of science who sells it to the average man. Knowing anything about a distant planets atmosphere won't affect your life, how to deal with stuff, how to pay your bills. But he comes in, throw up some stuff in the air you never thought about and you think "ah, yeah, that's interesting... Your silly little five word question stuck in my brain and now I want to know the answer." "Oh, some guys have an idea how to get the answer, but it will costs 50-80 billion $/£/€... yeah-yeah whatever, spend that of my tax money even if there are thousand ways to fail, but I want to know the answer.." He plants the seeds of curiosity and we need that - that curiosity lead us to learn to use fire..
