We got an inside look at the United States Navy's 10-week basic training program. Chief video correspondent Graham Flanagan spent five days inside Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, where he observed different companies at various stages of training at the facility located about 35 miles north of Chicago. Recruits must pass a physical assessment and a swim qualification before they train in seamanship, firefighting, and weapons training. They're also exposed to tear gas inside a confidence chamber where they learn to correctly wear gas masks. Training culminates with “Battle Stations” an all-night event that takes place on a mock Navy destroyer ship designed by companies who have created theme park attractions for Walt Disney World. After completing the event, recruits officially become sailors when they receive their US Navy ball caps. Experience the thrill of life onboard as we take you behind the scenes of this massive military machine. Get a glimpse into the daily routines and challenges faced by the sailors who call this moving metropolis their home. Discover the cutting-edge technology and sophisticated systems that keep this massive vessel afloat and operating at maximum efficiency. Join us for a journey of a lifetime as we explore life inside a city at sea. Hop aboard the U.S. Navy's mightiest aircraft carriers and meet their dedicated crews and pilots. On a U.S. Navy warship, up to 6,000 US sailors can live and work in the middle of the sea. This is how the modern aircraft carrier is also referred to as a ''city at sea.'' Many luxury facilities are available while the sailors work together to defend America's interests around the world. Full Documentary. Life aboard an aircraft carrier is undoubtedly tough and exhausting. Sailors on an aircraft carrier are responsible for a wide range of tasks, and they often work long hours in challenging conditions. Another challenge is the limited space and privacy available on an aircraft carrier. The ship is crowded with personnel and equipment, and sailors may have to share small, cramped living quarters with several other people. There is also limited downtime and opportunities for leisure activities, as the ship is always on the move and sailors are often busy with their duties. Additionally, sailors on an aircraft carrier may face challenges related to being away from home and their loved ones for extended periods of time. Deployments can last for several months, and sailors may not have regular opportunities to communicate with their families or take leave. Yet it can also be exhilarating, especially for the men and women who work on the flight deck, piloting jets and landing on a stretch of runway. What is it like to live and work on a US Navy ship in the middle of the sea? #usnavy #aircraftcarrier #documentary

Why This Is The US Navy’s Most Controversial Warship

The U.S. Navy has invested billions in the Littoral Combat Ship. But with unsolved problems and a murky mission set, will this close to shore surface combatant remain a key part of the Navy's strategy? The USS Freedom — the first Littoral Combat Ship, or LCS — was decommissioned after only 13 years in the fleet. This move appears to be at odds with the U.S. Navy’s goal of building up a force of 355 ships. The LCS is designed for littoral areas, or water closer to shore. Larger ships have trouble operating in these areas because of the shallow water. But engine issues, mission module problems and the evolving state of the world have put the future of the ship in choppy waters. Several older Littoral Combat Ships are also being decommissioned due to the high cost of upgrading them. “The bottom line is, it’s a zero-sum game. Every dollar you spend to keep those [LCS’] going is $1 you can spend on these other, I think, higher priorities” said Rep. Adam Smith, D-Wash., chairman of the House Armed Services Committee. To increase the vessel’s punch, the Navy has moved to add the Naval Strike Missile to some of the warships. It also decided to designate certain ships for specific missions, in contrast with the quick and swappable mission modules that were envisioned when the ship was first designed. There are two variants of the Littoral Combat Ship: the Independence-class, an all-aluminum trimaran design, and the Freedom-class, which is a more traditional steel hull with an aluminum superstructure. “Independence has been very successful deploying overseas to Singapore, in you know, in China’s backyard,” LCS Squadron Two commander Capt. David Miller said. “Starting in late 2019, the Freedom-class followed in the [U.S. Southern Command Area of Responsibility].” The Freedom-class was plagued by an engine issue that related to the combining gear, a complex piece of machinery that ensures that the multiple engines on the ship can function together. The Navy and Lockheed Martin are working to fix the problem in future ships that are waiting to be commissioned into the fleet, and those that have yet to be constructed. “In a nutshell, we are running on track to get to put that problem behind us and move on with the future of the freedom class,” Miller said. » Subscribe to CNBC: 🤍 » Subscribe to CNBC TV: 🤍 » Subscribe to CNBC Classic: 🤍 About CNBC: From 'Wall Street' to 'Main Street' to award winning original documentaries and Reality TV series, CNBC has you covered. The life of a sailor can be difficult and taxing at times. Crew members often spend weeks or even months away from home and do not exactly lead a luxurious life while doing so. On an aircraft carrier, it is common knowledge that officers enjoy superior living conditions to those of the sailors. Why is there such a difference in the life of an officer and a sailor? ins vikrant new aircraft carrier, indian aircraft carrier, aircraft carrier takeoff, us aircraft carrier, uss gerald ford aircraft carrier. A member of the Navy who serves in the enlisted ranks is called a sailor, while officers are Members of the Navy or Navy Reserve who meet the minimum educational criteria of possessing a degree from a college or university that offers a four-year program and who have completed Officer Training are eligible to become commissioned officers. Officers have separate berthing areas from enlisted personnel which is commonly referred to as “officer country.” Officers have their private quarters in which they sleep. Mess decks are where junior sailors, leading seaman, and below sailors sleep. Senior sailors, including Petty Officers and higher, sleep in multi-berth rooms that are arranged according to their ranks, such as PO, CPO, and MCPO. The officers' quarters are all the same. The US Navy and Coast Guard were using underwater drones overnight on Tuesday to locate and map the debris field of a downed Chinese balloon. The suspected surveillance balloon was shot down off the South Carolina coast on Saturday after a days-long journey across the US mainland. Navy divers began pulling pieces of the suspected spy balloon from the ocean floor after all the balloon's pieces floating on the surface were collected earlier on Tuesday. The debris will eventually go either to the FBI lab at Quantico, Virginia, or other sites where experts can analyze it, officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told the Associated Press. US convinced of a Chinese surveillance program The Washington Post reported on Tuesday that US intelligence has linked the balloon to a vast surveillance program run by China across the globe. Unnamed officials told the newspaper the surveillance airships, operated by the Chinese military, have been spotted over five continents. The US believes such balloons were used to collect intelligence on strategically relevant territories. On Monday, Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman briefed representatives of around 40 embassies about the surveillance program. "We want to make sure that we are sharing as much as we can with countries around the world who may also be susceptible to these types of operations," the senior administration official said. Meanwhile, China denied using such balloons for surveillance. On Tuesday, China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning blamed the US of overreacting. She said that the US should handle such incidents "in a calm and professional manner" without using force. The U.S. Navy today is the strongest navy in the world. This is partly due to the fact that other nations simply can’t afford the colossal military spending required to field a navy that can compare. As a result, in addition to its record number of aircraft carriers, the U.S. Navy features equipment that one could only find in science fiction movies. Let's take a closer look at what kind of armament the U.S. installs on its ships. In this video, you'll learn what kind of missiles U.S. ships are armed with. We'll tell you about the most modern forms of long-range weapons, such as universal ship installations, innovative railguns, and powerful lasers; weapons that may soon change the face of warfare dramatically!

Why US Navy Sailors Risk Their Lives to Jump Off an Aircraft Carrier in Middle of the Sea

US Navy Sailors aboard a massive aircraft carrier get the chance to jump off the huge ship in the middle of the sea during their months-long mission. This is done under the strict supervision of shark guards and snipers who strategically stand on the deck and watch for sharks. The flight decks of these vessels can be as high as 60 feet from the ocean surface. There have been instances whereby sharks have crashed these swim calls and disrupted the leisure time of sailors. Why do sailors risk their lives to jump off the aircraft carrier? There was an incident in 2020 whereby a 6-foot shark came close to a group of American coastguards having their swim call in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. An officer, who was tasked with watching out for sharks during the swim call, was able to spot the monster when it was just 30 feet away from his companions. Sailors aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Kimball had to fire bullets at the sea monster to stop it from approaching their 40 colleagues in the water. Fortunately, nobody was harmed during the encounter. Swim calls are a huge tradition for US Naval sailors. At the time of their inception, swim calls were an opportunity for sailors to have a bath, seeing as there was no constant supply of water back then. Now, they are often seen as a break. It is necessary for the crew members to take a breather from their regular activities and blow off some steam, which is where swim calls come into play! #aircraftcarrier #usnavy #sailors #sharkattack

An American aircraft carrier is on a mission for months with about 5,000 US US sailors on board. It is very vulnerable and therefore there is a high probability of someone dying on board. The famous flight deck where planes take off and land is also used for funeral ceremonies when someone dies on board. What happens when someone dies in the middle of the sea and why is the burial carried out at sea and not on land? US Navy Burial at sea. In a scenario where the deceased has to be taken to land while the aircraft carrier is on deployment, the body is placed in a body bag and stored in a freezer known to sailors as a reefer. This storing procedure is to preserve the body until the deceased can be transferred to a morgue. The naval term for transferring a dead body to land is called Personnel Transfer. Unless the vessel is at war or engaged in a battle, the deceased can be Pers-Trans'd to a medical examiner in a couple of days. Otherwise, the body might be preserved for weeks, sometimes months. However, if there is no request to deliver the body to land, the sailor is buried at sea. There is a standard procedure for a disposition at sea. Everyone attending the funeral must be appropriately dressed in the Uniform of the Day. The adjutant, also known as the Officer of the Deck, announces "All hands bury the dead'' to the members of the ship. If possible, the ship is brought to a stop. All colors of flags aboard the ship are then brought to half-mast. #aircraftcarrier #usnavy #burial

Some lawmakers are praising President Biden for downing the suspected surveillance craft, while others are criticizing him for waiting too long to act. This comes after the State Dept said that China will try to invade Taiwan sooner than 2027. As we’ve said before, you simply can’t hide the amount of logistics needed to invade Taiwan. The whole world knew Russia was going to invade Ukraine because the build up could be seen on satellite for 4 months. Many experts believe that it’s far more likely that the invasion window begins next year and ends in 2036. The US and Japan are committed to defending Taiwan. —————————— Produced by: Ben Wheeler, Philip DeFranco Edited by: Ben Wheeler Art Department: William Crespo Writing/Research: Ben Wheeler, Philip DeFranco ———————————— #usa #taiwan #Shorts

US Navy Is Worried: Iran Has 200 Knots Capable Torpedo #shorts

Ever heard of a supercavitating torpedo? It's a Soviet-era torpedo called VA-111 Shkvl, capable of speeds in excess of 200 knots. It's so fast that enemy submarines or ships don't get enough time to respond, and Iran says it has its own VA-111 Shkvl, the "HOOT Torpedo." These torpedoes use supercavitation, where they essentially vaporize liquid water into gas to avoid the typical drag that liquid water creates. But this torpedo is noisy as hell, and can easily reveal its position to enemy submarines. Although their presence on Iranian submarines is unknown, small subs can't carry them, and only 3 Kilo class subs of the Iranian navy are able to do so, but only with a lot of modifications. #youtubeshorts #shorts #usnavy #iran #torpedo
