Valentinas Krulikovskis and Viaceslavas Lukjanovas are graduates of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater. These two movie and theater actors currently work in Russian Drama Theater of Vilnius. Despite many roles they are acting, artists have a small, but really serious passion. It's jew's harp. Valentinas and Viaceslavas discovered this unique musical instrument two years ago and now their lives are unimaginable without it. This summer they presented their first experimental theatrical performance. It was an act where the sound of Jew's harps overlaps with futuristic oeuvre of Russian poet Velimir Chlebnikov. In this video, musician Varun Zinje not only delivers a beautiful Morchang performance but also shares insights on this ancient tribal musical instrument. This performance took place at the Godrej India Culture Lab's pop-up event - Vikhroli Skin held on 14th December 2013.
Rarely found these days, the Morchang is a fascinating instrument. A very rustic sound, it is similar to the 'Iktara' though it is of a completely different physical form. The instrument not bigger than a palm is clutched between the teeth and is played by tapping a finger over it. Sikander Khan, a master Morchang player is live every evening at the Safari Camp, Osian.

Jugalbandhi is usually performed during Rajasthani wedding ceremonies and other auspicious occasions. #Jgalbandhi #RajasthaniFolkMusic #MusicalEnsemble #dholak #morching #percussioninstruments #rajasthaniwedding
