Let's build our first Android app - a tip calculator! This video assumes NO prior experience with Android, and by the end you'll have something an app you could publish. We'll cover how to create the user interface with XML, and how to code the logic using the Kotlin programming language. These are the fundamental building blocks of any modern Android app. We'll use the ConstraintLayout for the layout and two event listeners for the app logic. After you enter a base amount and a tip percentage, the app will calculate the tip and total for you. We also implement a tip percentage animation and a footer to make our app more unique. ➤ Learn Kotlin in 12 Minutes: 🤍 ➤ Learn how to publish your app: 🤍 ➤ Download this app on Google Play: 🤍 🔗 Follow Rahul on YouTube: 🤍 🔗 Follow Rahul on Twitter: 🤍 🔗 Follow Rahul on LinkedIn: 🤍 🎉 Thanks to our Champion and Sponsor supporters: 👾 Wong Voon jinq 👾 hexploitation 👾 Katia Moran 👾 BlckPhantom 👾 Nick Raker 👾 Otis Morgan 👾 DeezMaster 👾 AppWrite Learn to code for free and get a developer job: 🤍 Read hundreds of articles on programming: 🤍

Do you want to build an Android app? Learn to use Android Studio to create a complete app using Kotlin and the latest technologies from Google in the tutorial series specifically made for 2021. In this video we download and install the required software for Android app development, create a new project, then create a new emulator or virtual device in which to run our new app. At the end of this we'll modify some XML code to update some text on our screen. Videos scheduled every week! Why is this series updated every year? My yearly Android developer's course is refreshed yearly to keep pace with changes in the creation of apps. Google constantly updates the OS, adds new libraries and recommends new practices. What makes this different? This course uses Kotlin, a programming language based on Java. Most apps in Google Play are either built entirely using Kotlin or are actively being converted to Kotlin. (I can't recommend using Java for apps.) Who are you? I'm Daniel Malone, an Android Engineer in downtown Austin, TX. My first start with computers was coding websites when I was twelve before transitioning to mobile engineering. 🔥 FREE! Join our All-Access subscription to get access to all of our premium courses including the Android & Kotlin Masterclass: 🤍 In this Kotlin Android Tutorial, you will learn how to build Android Apps with Kotlin, the programming language chosen by google to be used for Android native apps, going forward. After this complete masterclass you will be able to build your own Android apps 📱 You are going to learn all the fundamentals of Kotlin required to build android apps but, before we can do so, we need to set up Android Studio and our AVD (Android Virtual Device). Once you are done with the basics, we will start building real applications. In this Kotlin Android Tutorial you will learn how to build two apps. An “age in minutes” and a calculator app. By doing so, you will learn the fundamentals of how Android App development works. How to create your first app, how to run it on your phone and much more. This is ideal if you are interested in any type of programming. As we are going to dive into Kotlin. Kotlin is a fresh programming language which grows constantly in popularity when it comes to building Android apps. So you'll learn all the basics, but also build some cool android projects for beginners. This video is ideal for Android programming beginners as you will start with setting up Android Studio and build the programs from scratch. Of course, you will also see how to setup your Android Emulator, to run the apps you will program on your PC, without needing an Android phone for testing. Android Apps can be developed with Java and Kotlin. Recently Google has decided to focus on Kotlin though, as Java is owned by one of their Competitors (Oracle). Funnily enough, I have worked for Oracle in the past ;) So if you want to get started as an Android programmer and get a job in this field, then doing as many projects as possible is a great idea. Specifically, Android projects, as it is easy to publish them, and build your own portfolio. I'm really hyped to have you watch this Kotlin Android Tutorial. I have a bunch of other courses and tutorials. You can check them out on my channel and also on my website: 🤍 where we are posting blog posts regularly. This MOOC teaches you how to program core features and classes from the Java programming language that are used in Android, which is the dominant platform for developing and deploying mobile device apps. In particular, this MOOC covers key Java programming language features that control the flow of execution through an app (such as Java’s various looping constructs and conditional statements), enable access to structured data (such as Java's built-in arrays and common classes in the Java Collections Framework, such as ArrayList and HashMap), group related operations and data into classes and interfaces (such as Java's primitive and user-defined types, fields, methods, generic parameters, and exceptions), customize the behavior of existing classes via inheritance and polymorphism (such as subclassing and overriding virtual methods). Learners will apply these Java features in the context of core Android components (such as Activities and basic UI elements) by applying common tools (such as Android Studio) needed to develop Java programs and useful Android apps. ⭐⭐⭐⭐🕑TIME STAMP📋⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 👉Java for Android 👉MOOC 1 : MOOC OVERVIEW 0:00:00 Course overview 0:03:09 Module 1 overview 0:04:12 Mooc contents organization and learning strategies 0:14:01 Overview of the Java programming language part 1 0:27:21 overview of the Java programming language part 2 0:39:25 Overview Summary 👉MOOC 2 : INTRODUCTION TO ANDROID STUDIO 0:40:28 Module 2 introduction 0:42:29 Installing android studio 0:47:08 Opening provided assignment projects 0:52:05 Creating and importing projects 0:58:21 Introducing the editor 1:02:45 Project file organization 1:08:45 Creating and editing source code and resource files 1:12:22 Creating and running a virtual device 1:24:29 Debugging syntax errors 1:29:12 Logging with logcat 1:40:55 Todo Statements 1:45:41 Running your code self assessment via unit tests 1:56:06 submitting your code to the auto grader 2:02:17 Module 2 summary 👉MOOC 3 : WRITING A SIMPLE ANDROID APP USING BASIC JAVA FEATURES 2:03:59 Module introduction 2:05:45 Main components in a computing system 2:13:21 Variables and types 2:23:54 Expressions 2:35:10 Printing data 2:43:54 The math class 2:50:06 The string class 3:00:49 Methods 3:14:48 Module conclusion 👉MOOC 4: CONTROL FLOW 3:15:54 Introduction to control flow 3:17:07 If statement part 1 3:25:08 If statement part 2 3:34:12 If statement code walkthrough 3:41:36 For loops part 1 3:48:51 For loops part 2 3:55:03 For loops part 3 4:04:10 For loops code walkthrough 4:07:41 Indefinite loops 4:13:55 Random number generation 4:20:00 Module summary 👉MOOC 5: STRUCTURED DATA 4:20:54 Structured data 4:24:21 Arrays part 1 4:33:06 Arrays part 2 4:40:12 Arrays part 3 4:50:48 The for each loop 4:57:06 The collections framework part 1 5:11:16 The collections framework part 2 5:22:47 Arraylists 5:39:32 Hashmaps 5:55:33 Structured data wrapup 👉MODULE 6: CLASSES AND INTERFACES 5:56:34 Java classes and objects an overview 5:58:42 Motivating classes and objects 6:07:51 Building you own classes and objects 6:19:22 Refining your classes part 1 6:31:27 Refining your part 2 6:43:26 New objects in old places 6:57:19 overview of Java generics 👉MODULE 7: INHERITANCE AND POLYMORPHISM 7:06:40 Class hierarchy and interfaces overview 7:08:24 Class hierarchy and interfaces 7:21:59 Inheritance at work 7:29:39 Polymorphism 7:44:53 Java interfaces 7:51:38 Advanced class interface features 8:00:48 Exception handling 👉MODULE 8: ANDROID CALCULATOR APP MINI PROJECT ASSIGNMENT 8:11:56 Overview of the calculator app mini project assignment 8:21:31 Mini project assignment walkthrough ⭐ Important Notes ⭐ ⌨️ this course is created in collaboration with Vanderbilt University ✨✨PLEASE IGNORE THESE TAGS✨✨ #androiddevelopmenttutorialforbeginners #androiddevelopmentcourse #androiddevelopmenttutorial #androiddevelopmentcourse #androiddevelopmentfullcourse #andriodtutorial android full course with notes android course with notes #androidcompletecourse #androidapplicationdevelopmenttutorial android application developmen #learnandroid learn android in one video create android apps how to create android apps app development Android AndroidAppDevelopment LearnAndroid AndroidCourse #CompleteAndroidCourse Java MaterialDesign RecyclerView SharedPreferences JobScheduler WorkManager #coursera SQLite RoomDatabase Retrofit Volley Firebase ContentProvider ExoPlayer AndroidX JetPack

Join My Newsletter 👉 🤍 A common question that I see people ask whether they should learn Java or Kotlin for Android app development. This is an excellent question, after all who doesn't like a good "Kotlin vs Java" quandary? In this video I go ahead and answer that question by talking about the shortcomings of Java as well as the amazing features of Kotlin. We will also see side by side code samples of various features as well. 🚶♂️ FOLLOW ME 🚶♂️ Discord - 🤍 Twitter - 🤍 Medium - 🤍 📝 DESCRIPTION 📝 So whether you are looking to start a career in mobile development, understand the major difference between two Android Development languages, or just be entertained while we compare and contrast how these two languages approach solving the same problems, you are in for a treat. Keep in mind that Kotlin was designed to replace Java, and while there can be a lot of confusion between Java vs Kotlin, this video will tell you which one is better. Honestly I will be surprised if Java is still a big programming language after Google I/O 2021 as I expect Jetpack Compose to go 1.0 at which point Kotlin will take over the software engineering world. 📚 RESOURCES 📚 Kotlin Tutorials For Beginners - 🤍 Kotlin Scope Functions Explained - 🤍 Kotlin Collections Explained - 🤍 Jetpack Compose - 🤍 Java Records - 🤍 Kotlin Coroutines - 🤍 Kotlin Multiplatform - 🤍 Desugaring in Android - 🤍 J2ObjC - 🤍 ⏰ TIMESTAMPS ⏰ 0:00 - Intro 1:01 - Java Is Outdated 2:09 - Kotlin Is Platform Agnostic 4:38 - The Future of Android is Kotlin 7:28 - Kotlin Language Features 🎥 My YouTube Gear - 🤍 🖥 My Desk Gear - 🤍 🎵 My Background Audio - 🤍 *The above links are affiliate links. #mobiledevelopment #softwareengineer #softwaredeveloper
