This is the first Kacy Anticipation video I have made in three months because, obviously, there was no Kacy to anticipate. I used the "Anticipation " song in a video edit for Episode 11, but that was for "comedic effect". Anyway, this time it really is for Kacy Anticipation. ❤🤗❤ I hope using Lizzo's "About Damn Time" is okay. Alright...😉 Sometimes, a little profanity is appropriate when a moment is screaming for it. I was inspired to use it from a comment I replied to on the NCIS: Hawai'i Channel. So, thank you to that person. It has been a long three month journey of up and down emotions. But, no matter what the fate of our Kacy is, or our show, all we have right now is this moment. Enjoy every second. This is for all of you as we wait ONE more day for our Lucy to return and a possible Kacy reunion. #NCISHawaii #HereIsLucy #HereIsKacy #KacyForever 💕 Video/Photos: Viacom/CBS Music: Anticipation...Carly Simon About Damn Time...Lizzo Never Give Up...Nicole Scherzinger

The US Government made a tourism ad for Hawai'i, and it's surprisingly honest and informative. I had the opportunity to visit Hawai'i at the start of the month and talk with local and native Hawaiians. They all said the biggest problem they face is the fact that so few people are aware of the history of US military occupation. So on my return to Australia, I decided to make a video about it. "Hawai’i Aloha" features dozens of Hawai‘i’s top artists across many genres, and over 1,000 youth from 10 Hawaiian charter schools in one epic song. Recorded live across 27 locations, this is Hawaiiʻs most widely known song, used to close important gatherings of all sizes. It is a song of unity and Aloha ‘Aina (Aloha for one’s birthplace, land and home). About this collaboration: Mana Maoli, a Hawaiian nonprofit, teamed up with Playing For Change and 4 Miles as part of their Mana Mele Project, which features a solar mobile studio and a Music & Multimedia Academy. Alongside the youth - on campus, in real-world settings, and in this video, is the "Mana Mele Collective" - over 200 artists, engineers, and filmmakers who donate their time and talents to mentorships, recordings, and concerts in support of these schools. We hope you enjoy watching this collaborative effort as much as we enjoyed creating it! I'm coming to Hawai'i! Maui on 8/19, O'ahu on 8/20. Check out the link: 🤍 Though unheard by many, this song - made popular by Iz Kamakawiwo'ole - was an anthem in Hawai'i when I was growing up during the 80s-90s. If you are not familiar with Hawai'i's history (pre/post overthrow) - I suggest you educate yourself and look it up. I was lucky to be sent to Kaiapuni (Hawaiian immersion school) when I was young - it was a new adventure in learning, an immersion into the Hawaiian language where all day and all classes were taught in Hawaiian. Not a drop of English was spoken. We would cut and paste Hawaiian translations into science, history and math study books on weekends. We were the third class that ever was - 16 Guinea Pigs in a time when the revival of the Hawaiian language was a mission for the people of Hawai'i. At 5 years old, it took me less than a school year to become fluent in a language that my grandparents couldn't speak. At night, I would dream in Hawaiian. For 8 years, I considered Hawaiian to be my first language. I've gone through many changes since - I switched to an english school in 7th grade. Quit Hula at 18. Moved to Los Angeles at 19. Became a starving musician at 20. Moved farther away to Kansas. But throughout those changes - the language, the culture, the koko (blood) - that never goes away. I look at my roots as an immovable mountain - when all is gone, I'll be found in you - still standing. If you would like to support a great cause for the keiki of Hawai'i - check out Nā Kama Kai (🤍 - a great nonprofit that educates and connects the youth of Hawai'i to the sea and land. 🤍 Lot, Kamehameha V, wanted a gift of music for his people and asked Kaiser Wilhelm I of Germany to send a bandmaster to Hawaiʻi. Henri Berger arrived June 5, 1872, and organized the Royal Hawaiian band who perfomed June 11,1872, after 5 days of practice. This first performance of the Royal Hawaiian band introduced "Hymn to Kamehameha I "which Berger re-wrote for the first celebration of King Kamehameha Day. The melody was based on the Prussian hymn originally titled "Heil Dir Im Siegerkranz". The words by King David Kalākaua was set to the Hymn to Kamehameha I in 1874, and was first sung by the Kawaiahaʻo Church Choir, on King Kalākaua`s birthday, Nov. 16, 1874. The King made a state visit to Japan on March 4, 1881, and was received lavishly by Emperor Mutsuhito. Landing at the Bay of Yeddo, Yokohama, he was greeted by a Japanese military band playing his song. During the visit, Kalākaua proposed the marriage of his niece, 5-year-old Princess Kaʻiulani to Prince Yamashina Komatsu Sadamoro, the 15-year-old nephew of the emperor. The emperor replied that the prince was already betrothed. Upon Kalākaua's return to Hawaiʻi, he received formal letters from Foreign Minister Inouye Kaoru and Prince Komatsu politely declining the offer of marriage to the Hawaiian princess. Thirteen years later, Jan. 29, 1894, Queen Liliʻuokalani wrote to Princess Kaʻiulani asking the princess to marry and choose a suitable mate from Prince David Kawananakoa, Prince Jonah Kūhiō or Prince Komatsu, the Japanese Prince. In a letter to the Queen, June 22, 1894, Princess Kaʻiulani rejected all three princes writing "I feel it would be wrong if I married a man I did not love. I should be perfectly unhappy, and we should not agree and instead of being an example to the married women of today, I should become like them, merely a woman of fashion and most likely to flirt". The Hawaiʻi legislature proclaimed Hawaiʻi Ponoʻi the state anthem in 1967.

The story starts on a chilly October night in 1976 at my home in Waiakea Uka in Hilo... on the line is a fellow musician and good friend Cleyton Kua of the band "Da Blahlas". He knew I was looking for new artists for my record label Kawika Records and he felt he found a promising one. His name was Micky Ioane. Cleyton was impressed with a few songs Micky had written and suggested I give him a listen. The next night Cleyton and I walked into the Ioane home in Keaukaha... it was packed with friends and neighbors, all anxious for the audition of one named Micky. I felt chicken-skin as I was ushered into the kitchen where Micky was sitting at the kitchen table with guitar in hand and nervously shifting his lyric sheets before him. There was no where to sit... I stood and after being introduced to Micky , I gestured him to begin singing his songs... the first hit hard... a touching song about a legendary drunk in Keaukaha nicknamed Peter Pumpkin... the song ended... everyone in the kitchen clapped in support, including Cleyton and me... The Green, "My Hawai'i" Listen at myhawaii.thegreen808.com #thegreen Since their formation, The Green has been a vocal supporter of Hawaiian rights and a model of what it means to be a young, modern Hawaiian. Songs like “Never,” “That’s The Way,” and “Even Before,” among many others, have become rallying cries for Hawaiian youths. Their new single “My Hawai'i,” released December 20 (Easy Star Records), is a new anthem for the Hawaiian nation, featuring guest appearances by fellow multiple-time winners of Na Hoku Hanohano Awards Sean Na'auao, Kaumakaiwa, and Kumu Hina. The band and the label are going to be donating any proceeds from the song to The Hawai'i People’s Fund. HPF has helped to support, build capacity, and amplify the impact of grassroots social change movements in Hawai’i since 1972. Ikaika Antone, co-writer of the song and singer/keyboardist of The Green, says, “‘My Hawai'i’ is about the ever changing landscape of Hawai'i. These changes we feel are often not in the best interest of the land or its people. It is a song that speaks of the beauty of Hawai'i, and of the importance to protect it. ‘My Hawai'i’ is inspired by the strength and courage of our Hawaiian people, and that we as stewards of this land set the right example, so that our keiki [children] may have the tools to continue to move Hawai’i in the right direction.” Connect with The Green 🤍 🤍 🤍 🤍 #thegreen

The music used for the song "Hawaii Aloha" was taken from a Christian hymn entitled "I Left It All With Jesus", which was written in the 1840's by Pennsylvania singer and composer James McGranahan. King Kamehameha IV loved that hymn so much he asked missionary Reverend Lorenzo Lyons to rewrite the words and place the new song in a Hawaiian hymn book. Reverend Lyons had a church for many years in Waimea on the Big Island of Hawaii. "Hawaii Aloha" is also known as "Kuu One Hanau".
