A car bomb near Moscow has killed the daughter of the ultra-nationalist Russian philosopher behind Vladimir Putin’s aggressive expansionist strategies that propelled him to invade Ukraine. Alexander Dugin may have been the intended target of the bomb that killed his daughter, Darya, as she was driving home from a festival outside Moscow where her father had just given a lecture. Video showed Mr Dugin - known as “Putin’s brain” and even “Putin’s Rasputin” - holding his hands to his head in disbelief as he stood staring at the burning car. La persona acusada por el Kremlin de haber cometido el atentado con bomba en el coche en el que viajaba la víctima es una mujer ucrania de 43 años. En medios de comunicación y cuentas sociales rusas fueron difundidas este lunes varias fotografías de esta persona, Natalia Vovk, y también un supuesto documento suyo identificativo como miembro de la Guardia Nacional ucrania, la división militar del Ministerio del Interior, y del regimiento Azov. La versión de los hechos que ha trazado el Servicio Federal de Seguridad ruso (FSB) siembra múltiples sospechas acompañadas por un alud de propaganda. Para el Ministerio del Interior ucranio, el Kremlin busca exacerbar los ánimos rusos con falsas informaciones sobre una Ucrania en manos de extremistas y terroristas. Los datos personales de Vovk fueron hechos públicos por primera vez en una web anónima, Némesis, dedicada a filtrar información de militares ucranios. Némesis señalaba a Vovk como componente del Regimiento Azov, grupo de origen paramilitar de ultraderecha, actualmente bajo las órdenes de la Guardia Nacional. Tanto representantes de Azov como de la Guardia Nacional han negado que esta persona haya formado parte del regimiento. El regimiento Azov, fundacionalmente ultranacionalista, es uno de los principales recursos de la propaganda rusa para dibujar a Ucrania como un país dominado por hordas fascistas. Un portavoz de la Guardia Nacional afirmó a EL PAÍS que comprobarán si el documento de identidad es auténtico. "Putin’s brain", "the mastermind behind Putin," "ultranationalist,” "high Rightist,” "fascist,” "Communist" ... Practically every political label has been used to describe the well-known Russian thinker, Alexander Dugin. What is the truth? Who is he, and what are his actual principles? Is he really so influential in Russian politics as is claimed? We have spoken about these questions in this podcast with our friend, John Morgan, who helped to introduce Dr. Dugin in the English-speaking world and has worked on several of the English-language editions of his books. They also met in India in 2012. During our conversation, the topic of the Russo-Ukrainian War is also touched upon. John recalls his open-mindedness to the Ukranian nationalists early on that might have given them legitimacy from the point of view of the True Right, and discusses the reasons why subsequent events have proved such hopes to be false. The key elements and primary ideas of Dr. Dugin's worldview are discussed, and we also speak about some typical mistakes that are made by critics of the Russian ideologist. The topic of possible connections between the men of Tradition and contemporary politics is also discussed near the end of the conversation. The Australian’s Greg Sheridan says Vladimir Putin's ally Alexander Dugin is the “evil genius” behind the Russian President's ideology. It follows the death of Darya Dugina, the daughter of Mr Dugin, in a suspected car bombing. Russian law enforcement officials said it has launched a murder investigation to determine what exactly happened and who was at fault. “This seems to most likely be the first sign of real dissent we’ve seen within the ruling circles of Russia,” he told Sky News host Andrew Bolt. “Dugin may be a lot more influential with Putin than we’ve been led to believe.”
