Ahoy legends! This week the Phantom and I are using a simple bait with deadly results to do some stealth fishing in shallow water! That's right we are doing some bread and butter angling for whiting by wading the Gold Coast flats casting unweighted yabbies (or nippers). This is an awesome style of fishing that literally anyone can do, and believe me, it's a stack of fun! To top it off we managed to track down some really nice sized fish including a true giant for the phantom, as well as plenty of bycatch as well. Hope you enjoy this episode! This is basically how I catch trout in rivers with night crawlers
We call em Ghost Shrimp here in the states and they are the #1 bait for catching Pompano in the gulf of Mexico. Question: have you ever used miracle thread or string to hold them on the hook better? Those buggers like to come off when you see that school coming down the beach. 🤣
I would say it’s dang good since enjoyable.fishing/ enjoyable.fishing recommend it’s caught a pike first time using it! My cousin had one that cost the same price I paid, but for one. And didn’t catch anything. I say it’s a winner!
nippers mate not yabbies ..... FFS LOL
I would love to go to the gold coast and do some bread and butter fishing it looks so nice and fun!
Bream - AKA marine cockroach.
The most annoying fish species in SE Qld.
The yabby. Old faithful.
Gold Coast waterways are lousy with bull sharks so I wouldn't be wading there.
The last Whiting was called a Kidney Slapper
We have no size on any whiting but KG here in W.A and it is a joke. If you can get a land based sand whiting or yellowfin, that is bigger than 20cm your are doing really well. It is a joke. You cant just go down a river like you guys and do this.
Try bleed every fish. worth it.
Great video mate!
We fish the exact same way here in South African estuaries. Sand prawn (yabby) weightless on the flats!
We call then a ghost shrimp in Florida
Those yabbies are like crack to whiting;)
Greatest sound in the world
They call them ghost shrimp in California in the united state. I know a place to get them south of Belmont shores California in a harbor out there in low tide.
Y'all call them brim but over here in Florida in America we call him pin fish excellent bait and if you can catch them big enough they're actually damn good eating but that's a pen fish but in Australia I guess I know him it's brim
