I wasn't expecting to be this impressed! Vancouver is Canada's 3rd largest city, has perpetually rainy and overcast weather and the most expensive real estate in the whole country! BUT.... it is 'NICE'. If you are looking for a very high caliber of living with nature right at your doorstep, Vancouver might just be the best fit for you if you are looking to live in Canada. I always had the opinion that Toronto was the best city, but the last 3 years have definitely changed things. Driving Downtown - Vancouver BC Canada - Season 1 Episode 22. Starting Point: Granville St 🤍 . Vancouver, officially the City of Vancouver, is a coastal seaport city on the mainland of British Columbia, Canada. The 2011 census recorded 603,502 people in the city, making it the eighth largest Canadian municipality. The Greater Vancouver area of around 2.4 million inhabitants is the third most populous metropolitan area in the country, the second largest city on the United States–Canada border, and the most populous in Western Canada. Vancouver is one of the most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities in Canada; 52% of its residents have a first language other than English. Vancouver is classed as a Beta global city. The City of Vancouver encompasses a land area of about 114 square kilometres, giving it a population density of about 5,249 people per square kilometre (13,590 per square mile). Vancouver is the most densely populated Canadian municipality, and the fourth most densely populated city with over 250,000 residents in North America, behind New York City, San Francisco, and Mexico City. The original settlement, named Gastown, grew up on clearcuts on the west edge of the Hastings Mill logging sawmill's property, where a makeshift tavern had been set up on a plank between two stumps and the proprietor, Gassy Jack, persuaded the curious millworkers to build him a tavern, on 1 July 1867. From that first enterprise, other stores and some hotels quickly appeared along the waterfront to the west. Gastown became formally laid out as a registered townsite dubbed Granville, B.I. ("B.I" standing for "Burrard Inlet"). As part of the land and political deal whereby the area of the townsite was made the railhead of the CPR, it was renamed "Vancouver" and incorporated shortly thereafter as a city, in 1886. By 1887, the transcontinental railway was extended to the city to take advantage of its large natural seaport, which soon became a vital link in a trade route between the Orient, Eastern Canada, and Europe. As of 2009, Port Metro Vancouver is the busiest and largest port in Canada, and the most diversified port in North America. While forestry remains its largest industry, Vancouver is well known as an urban centre surrounded by nature, making tourism its second-largest industry. Major film production studios in Vancouver and Burnaby have turned Greater Vancouver and nearby areas into one of the largest film production centres in North America, earning it the film industry nickname, Hollywood North. Vancouver is consistently named as one of the top five worldwide cities for livability and quality of life, and the Economist Intelligence Unit acknowledged it as the first city to rank among the top-ten of the world's most liveable cities for five consecutive years. Vancouver has hosted many international conferences and events, including the 1954 British Empire and Commonwealth Games, UN Habitat I, Expo 86, the World Police and Fire Games in 1989 and 2009; and the 2010 Winter Olympics and 2010 Winter Paralympics which were held in Vancouver and Whistler, a resort community 125 km (78 mi) north of the city. In 2014, following thirty years in California, the annual TED conference made Vancouver its indefinite home. Several matches of the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup were played in Vancouver, including the final at BC Place Stadium. 🤍 🤍 🤍 🤍

Vancouver Island combines large forests, rugged landscapes, rocky mountain peaks, and mysterious coastlines. After living in this beautiful place for a combined 10 years, we’ll break down the 10 MOST INCREDIBLE places you have to visit on Vancouver Island (footage accumulated over the years): 10. Cameron Lake & Cathedral Grove These are located near each other in central Vancouver Island, sitting between Parksville and Port Alberni. Cameron lake is a tranquil spot on the island with many other natural attractions in the area. Witness the old-growth giant trees at Cathedral Grove and more. 9. Goldstream Provincial Park Located right outside of Victoria, Goldstream Provincial Park is a great spot for hiking, camping and connecting with nature. Explore the beautiful “Niagara” waterfall or do a challenging hike to the neighboring peak of Mount Finlayson. ❗NOTE: Goldstream Trestle has now been CLOSED to the public 8. Victoria Sitting on the southern end, Victoria is the most popular and accessible destination on Vancouver Island. Within a 20-minute driving radius of the city, there are tons of things to do in Victoria. Also called "Wild Renfrew", this area is known for its ancient rainforest, world-class hiking trails, and its stunning beaches. 6. Cowichan Valley Cowichan Valley is another unique place to visit on Vancouver Island. Located in the south, this valley has lush, green forests, rugged landscapes, and a pristine coastline. Activities to enjoy here include hiking or biking Mount Tzouhalem, sipping wine at one of the idyllic vineyards, exploring the largest totem pole collection in Duncan, and seeing the sea lions in Cowichan Bay. 5. This video is to raise awareness. There are many who think Vancouver B.C. is this shiny tourist destination, ever since the lockdown from the pandemic many issues beyond homelessness, addiction have risen as a result. And it's a very complex issue with many many layers, there is no one solution on how to remedy everything because you'd need more social housing, rehab centers, more mental health facilities, more ambulances, more police, you'd need more things like trauma centers for civilians who have run ins and altercations, there are so many things that stem from it. When most people think of a “bad area” in Vancouver, they think about the Downtown Eastside (DTES), which roughly runs along East Hastings Street from Carrall Street to Clark Drive. This area has a high concentration of people struggling with homelessness and high levels of drug addiction and mental illness. This area is one of the homeless hubs in town. Expect noise from the street people, and your stuff to be stolen if you’re not careful about it (not leaving anything tempting in your car, bringing your bike inside etc) and lots of noise from sirens. Sketchy interactions can be avoided by not engaging and being polite (with the street peeps). Don't forget to SUBSCRIBE! It's free, and makes sure you never miss any of our great videos. 🎵 Where I Get My Music From – Try it 1 month FREE: 🤍 We hiked 18KM up Garibaldi Lake and it was so worth it!! What waited for us at the top was probably the nicest green-blue lake I have ever seen. Garibaldi Lake is 9KM from parking lot to the summit (or 10KM from where you might have to park your car, as the video will show haha) so it's for slightly more experienced hikers. It could take 3 hours to get up. But you will be rewarded with a beautiful sight. Garibaldi Lake is perhaps the nicest lake I've ever seen, and it has a background of snow-covered mountains that really sets the scene. I'mportant note if you're hiking Garibaldi Lake: Best times to do it are July to September. Even in June, the lake might be frozen over up top. That doesn't mean you can't do it, but it will be a different scene when you get up there so plan ahead and pack warm layers if needed. Hope you've enjoyed this hike, if you did, let me know in the comments! I'm always happy to hear from you. As always, I'm Dan from The New Travel. Vancouver Canada's a super relaxing city with so much green coloured nature. Summer is definitely the best season to visit this city. The long-awaited Vancouver Apartment Search video has finally arrived, and it's pretty good tbh. Today we Tour 7 different Vancouver Apartments AND find a new home🏡 3 weeks with NO VIDEO I know, but I'ma be back with 1/2 videos every week going forward, NO CAP. I appreciate your guy's never-ending support :) Follow Me on Instagram - 🤍 My Moving to Vancouver Guide - 🤍 🏡FINDING A VANCOUVER APARTMENT ADVICE ~ Since Vancouver is pretty popular right now and tons of people are tryna move here, it can be tough to secure a place. I wasn't kidding when I said I emailed 45 places and only heard back from 7... It takes time and consistency. 🏡Where to search for places - The top 4 places I recommend the most are Facebook MarketPlace, Craigslist, Padmapper, and Zumper (all linked below). Facebook and Craigslist postings are usually created by the owners of the apartments themselves, meaning sometimes they may have cheaper rent, and they may not ask you for as much information like reference letters and other things (depends on the owner). - 🤍 - 🤍 - 🤍 - 🤍 🏡Information you may get asked for - Many landlords want to see if you are a good tenant and that you can actually afford the place you are inquiring about. Normal things you may get asked for; Reference letter from a previous landlord, employment records or bank statements, yearly salary/ earnings, 🏡Getting an apartment secured from outside of the city - This will be a challenge because so many people here are wanting to rent the apartments already, so the owners of these places may not want to wait for you to get here. I suggest going through FaceBook and Craigslist in this case because it is more likely the actual owners of these places will understand your circumstances - but again sometimes this is difficult. 🏡Don't get scammed - Don't send people money until you have seen your place in person, or through a video tour is what I say. Scammers tend to ask you to send money before you even see the place. Always ask for a tour in person or virtual, and if they decline, it is kind of suspicious and may be a scam. 🏡Need Roommates to make rent cheaper? - Facebook is the best place to find other people who are also looking for people to rent an apartment with. Just search for Facebook groups dedicated to Vancouver housing, and Vancouver roommates. That's the best place to find people! 🏡Other Questions? - I respond to all the messages I get on Instagram if you follow and DM me there 🤍theadamjbell - 🤍 Get 15% OFF Music for your Videos - 🤍 Use code "ADAMBELL" at checkout! - Grow On YouTube For Free With TubeBuddy - 🤍 - MY YOUTUBE GEAR ~ Standing Desk - 🤍 Camera - 🤍 Microphone - 🤍 Voiceover Microphone - 🤍 Lighting - 🤍 RGB Lighting - 🤍 Small Tripod - 🤍 Full Tripod - 🤍 Wide Angle Lens - 🤍 Monitors - 🤍 Monitor Stand - 🤍 Keyboard - 🤍 Mouse - 🤍 Speakers - 🤍 Computer - 🤍 - This video took weeks, and hella emails lol. I really did send out almost 50 emails. Most of the time you just never get a response, but don't get discouraged because that is normal in the Vancouver apartment hunting scene. We looked at places mostly in Kitsilano because that is the area I am trying to live in - I do have other videos touring places downtown which you can find on my channel! Before the Pandemic, the Vancouver Downtown Eastside has faced many problems, including poverty, drug use, crime, homelessness, mental illness, vandalism and other problems. Since, the Pandemic, the situation has gotten worse. Recently, homeless people are living in an area where businesses are located. Chinatown is located near the Downtown Eastside. Chinatown is having its share of problems, including buildings being vandalized, loss of local business and loss of tourism. Recent reviews on Tripadvisor have been really negative about our city of Vancouver. People are advising tourist to avoid different areas of the city, including Chinatown. "You have walking dead roaming the streets", agrees Jordan Eng, with one of the reviews on Tripadvisor, who compared people in the area to the "walking dead". Jordan Eng is the president of Chinatown BIA. In my video, I'm saying the area has been "affected" by the Pandemic. In other other words, the Pandemic has made things worse. Some viewers seem to think I'm saying the situation has been "effected" by the Pandemic. In other words, it is the result of the Pandemic. I'm not saying this.

Although Seattle is an American city and Vancouver is a Canadian city, both are part of the same region, known as the Pacific Northwest, or sometimes known as Cascadia. Both have a temperate oceanic climate known for their generally cool temperatures and rainy weather. While both have four seasons, it never gets too cold in the winter and never too hot in the summer. Both can get snow in the winter and get A LOT of precipitation from November through January. Yep, those three months are cold, dark, and rainy. Both are in the infamous Ring of Fire, an area where lots of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions tend to occur. Both have about the same population in the actual city limits. (V- 675,218, S- 724,745). However, Seattle’s metro population has about 1.5 million more people. (V- 2.5 million, S- 4 million) But you could say Vancouver is a bigger deal in its home country, as it has the 3rd largest metro in all of Canada, while Seattle has the 15th largest metro. Seattle has been the fastest growing American big city of the past decade. While both are ethnically diverse, Vancouver is more so. 40% of Vancouver’s population is made up of immigrants. Around 28% of Vancouver residents are Chinese. It’s been called the “most Asian city outside of Asia.” Both have low pollution and are environmentally friendly. Both have pledged to go carbon neutral by 2050. I mean, overall both have a high quality of life, and thus...both cities are really expensive.

Why? Quite literally, the atmosphere. Vancouver’s clean air is thanks to it’s really close connection to nature. There are mountains and forests surrounding the City, and the Pacific ocean is right on the cities doorstep. Here the great outdoors isn’t just a place, it’s a way of life. But it’s a modern City waiting to be discovered as well. So in this guide, we’re going to help you make the most of it! We’re going to look at food, money, transport, and a whole lot more, but first let’s get from the airport. Vancouver International airport is less than 10 miles from Downtown area, and is Canada's second busiest airport, after Toronto Pearson International. Getting between the airport and the City Centre is relatively straightforward – a 20-minute taxi ride will cost around $45. Another way into the City is the SkyTrain – it's a bit like London's DLR with driverless carriages, you take the Canada line for half an hour or so, and it costs around $7. Vancouver has an extensive public transport network, as well as being a really easy place to dive. Here’s what you need to know: Now it’s not often that we can tell someone to drive a car through a major City, but in Vancouver drive away until your heart's content! We hired a car and cannot recommend it enough. Thanks to the Cities grid system, wide roads with plenty of easy understood signs and generally well-tempered drivers - driving was an absolute doddle! There’s ample parking wherever you go, even at the busy tourist hotspots, not to mention fuel is cheap, and traffic generally wasn’t too bad in our experience.
