The 1988 Volga GAZ 24-10 Is a Hilariously Bad Soviet Russian Car

CHECK OUT CARS & BIDS! 🤍 The Volga GAZ 24-10 is a Soviet car and a poorly built, laughably outdated one. The 5 WEIRDEST Communist Cars Ever Made

How do you double the value of a communist car? You fill the tank. These 5 cars are so hilariously bad, you have to look at the situation with a sense of humour. People in Soviet Russia had to save 11’000 rubles (which is £106,000 today), walk into a car dealership and pay upfront - only to hear that the delivery date was in 10 years time. Then, when the car finally arrived - it was comically bad - poorly designed, unreliable and many of them were pretty weird. So, why were the Soviet Russians so bad at making cars? This is a new series, the Scrapheap - where we talk about cars that are so bad, they belong in the scrapheap - straight from the factory. ⭕ Why New Cars Keep Failing the Moose Test 🤍 ⭕ What You Don't Know About Rimac 🤍 But before we get to the worst 5, how did it get to the point where a car costs over a year’s salary and the wait time could be measured in decades rather than weeks? Well, what we now know as Russia, was a strange place in the 60s and 70s. It was under the Communist regime and the government placed a heavy priority on its military - meaning all of the best scientists, engineers, designers, machinery and materials all went straight into the country’s war efforts, rather than working on making good cars. On top of this, the production of cars was heavily regulated - where the government held control of what cars were imported, which were made, who could buy one and how many cars were offered out. Next video - 🤍 ZIL-41047 is an executive-class car with a limousine-type body. It represents the third and last restyling of the ZyL-114 generation model. Due to the arrival of the new General Secretary of the Central Committee of the CPSU in 1985, the production of ZIL-41047, which replaced the ZIL-41045 model, was started. Dual headlights have become rectangular, the radiator grill is styled differently, the rear lights have been replaced, and the turn signals have been moved to the ends of the wings. The revolving windows on the front doors have disappeared. Earlier, from 1976 to 1983, the ZIL-4104 (ZIL-115) model was produced with modifications, then from 1983 to 1985 - ZIL-41045 with modifications; both models were distinguished by round headlights and a number of other technical parameters. Technical refinement of some car systems was also carried out in order to comply with international environmental standards for the toxicity of exhaust gases. The ZIL-4104 engine was equipped with a contactless electronic ignition system. In 1988, the hydromechanical transmission underwent modernization: the design of the freewheel clutch and several adjacent parts was changed, which increased the reliability of the unit. ZIL-41047 got 16-inch wheels and even wider (265 mm) "rubber". The tires of the special brand "Granit" had a design that allowed moving with a depressurized wheel, which was achieved due to the very hard sidewalls of the tire and the special gel inside. The cars were intended for the service of members of the Politburo.

🚗The first Soviet station wagon Moskvich 426🚘USSR CAR

Next video - 🤍 Moskvich-426 is a Soviet cargo-passenger vehicle produced in Moscow at the MZMA plant (later AZLK) from 1967 to 1976. It is a cargo-passenger version of the Moskvich-408 car. On the basis of the Moskvich-408 car, the Moskvich-426 station wagon was released in 1967. On cars of the first years of production (until 1972), the tailgate consisted of two halves: the upper one went up, the lower one went down. Subsequently, the back door became solid and opened up. Differences from the Moskvich-427 model consisted in a less powerful engine. A 1.4-liter engine from the 408 model was installed on the Moskvich-426 Car. The crew could be 5 people, 4 people and a load of 100 kg or 2 people and a load of 250 kg. The rear seat had a metal backrest that could be folded for cargo weighing up to 250 kg. A spare wheel and tool were added under the rear of the floor. The designer was Yefim Mastbaum. Since 1967, the car began to roll off the assembly line. The release continued until 1976. Since 1976, in connection with the removal from production of the Moskvich-408 family of cars and the production of the Moskvich-2138 family, the Moskvich-2136 station wagon was produced.

LADA – History of Soviet/Russian People’s Car

Russian cars are maybe not the best cars in the world, but they definitely have their fans. Especially LADA which was very popular in the 80s and early 90s (especially Lada Niva), but nowadays can rarely be seen outside of Russia. Let's remember the history of this brand and try to understand why it lost all of its popularity? 00:00 - Introduction 01:20 - History 05:06 - Buying a car in USSR 06:50 - LADA after the collapse of the USSR 09:44 - Future of LADA The Lada is one of the brightest symbols of Soviet Russia. One of the most reliable cars in the world. Or one of the worst cars ever made. Depends on who you ask. It was created by a company called AvtoVAZ in a beautifull city of Togliatti (and no, it is not in Italy, it's in Russia!) Its heyday, if it had one, was in the 1970s, but a significant number of cars remain on the roads today, and hold a special place in the hearts and minds of many Russians. The keys to it's success were competitive price, reliability, simple DIY-friendly mechanics, and simple functionality. The car was built under license in several other countries in Europe, Africa and South America. Competitive pricing and ease of maintenance have made the Ladas a popular vehicle for police, cabs, and a variety of civil service and civil defense vehicles in many parts of the world. There have been ups and downs in the history of Avtovaz, but the current fall, unfortunately, has dragged on. The people's car of the Soviet Union was never able to recover from its downfall, and each year the company became more and more unprofitable. It was sold to the French from Renault in 2009, and 12 years later they announced the merging of the LADA and Dacia brands. Which means the end of the era of real Russian cars under the LADA name. Jeremy Clarkson ZAZ 968 Even better than Maybach S12E06 Top Gear

This car has similarity with Fiat. It is small, very funny and one of the most peculiar. You want to smile when you see this car. Because of its very modest size and practically no trunk, the car, although with excellent maneuverability, was not quite suitable for rural residents. Another advantage of the car was its simplicity of design and phenomenal maintainability. Even the windshield was unified with the rear, they were of the same shape and size. The maximum speed of 100 km / h, but few people accelerated to this ... And what if it breaks?

The Lada Riva - the Soviet "Tank" that Invaded Britain

My enduring image of the Lada Riva from the late 1980s is an old-fashioned car that people bought because it was cheap. With it being the butt of many jokes, it was about as exciting as Steve Davis. But this is like judging a film you’ve missed the start of, that’s in a foreign language. The Riva was the first car for many Soviets, and over a 40-year history sold more than Ford’s Model T. So just where did this car come from? And why was the USSR hawking it for all it was worth in the UK in the 1980s? What Life in the Soviet Union Was Like

Here's the standard high school history class summary of the Soviet Union: The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) was a communist state from 1922 to 1991 and was a big rival of the US from WWII to the end of the '80s. But what was the Soviet Union really like? What was it like living in the Soviet Union? That same history class probably told you that it was awful, but it's a lot more complicated than that. #USSR #SovietUnion #WeirdHistory

Guys, do not forget to share, the history of the Soviet automobile industry should not be forgotten!

Traffic and cars in the Soviet Union - 1976 (translated)

In "Reach the Automobile", a 1976 documentary film, the problems related to traffic in the Soviet Union are addressed, with great emphasis on road accidents, which mainly involved pedestrians. It is widely known that happened a change in attitude of the Soviet governments regarding the personal car, which was previously observed as within a capitalist logic considered unreational, in terms of the use of scarce resources, and became part of culture and politics of the country's development within the new possibilities of "technical progress", the basis for other changes according to a materialist perspective. Although the car in scarcer in USSR than in other countries, during the 1960s and 1970s there was a great effort to expand the production of personal cars. Along with the expansion of existing factories, such as the former MZMA, Muscovite Factory of Economy Cars, renamed AZLK, two new factories were created: in Izhevsk, with the objetive of producing a car with a previous soviet project and under the responsibility of the Ministry of Defense Industry, and in Togliatti, with the creation of Lada, under the responsibility of the Ministry of Automobile Industry and in which prevailed the less conservative option (in Soviet perspective) of receiving initial foreign support. Within this context, this 1976 documentary also addresses the growing importance of the personal automobile, its cultural implications and, above all, its impacts on traffic safety. The problems regarding the supply of spare parts, typical of an economy not directly governed by market prices, is also shown euphemistically, as part of the difficulties that would mark the life of a driver, and in which rational criteria is not always possible to be applied. According to Professor Ivanov and Major General Nozdriakov, the proposed solutions to traffic safety problems permeated the technical improvement of automobiles, a greater capacity to convince people, in which dialogue and persuasion is valued , as well as the improvement of road signaling conditions and pedestrian support. And the automobile, which today loses prestige among the new generations, due to the growing difficulty that maintaining a vehicle represents, due to the environmental concern, as well as the practicality of transport apps, at that time was also consolidated as a desire for consumption by socialist society, marking the 20th century.
