Tom Snyder (1936 - 2007) was an American pioneering television personality and figure in broadcast journalism who brought a no non-sense attitude to broadcast television news. He was best known for his late nigh talk shows Tomorrow (NBC) and The Late Late Show with Tom Snyder (CBS). His engaging style combined with his irascible attitude, made him one of the best known journalists of his time, back when having a nationally televised and thought provoking late night talk show actually meant something. It was a totally different time in television, as the news was delivered as information with no spin or opinion of the newsman. He marked the end of an era. Take-Offs and Put-Ons is the debut solo album by American comedian George Carlin. Recorded in Detroit, Michigan at the Roostertail on November 25, 26 and 27, 1966, the album was first released in 1967 as RCA Victor LSP-3772 and was nominated for a Grammy award later that year.[2] Many of the routines and characters were already familiar to audiences due to the comedian's performances on television programs such as The Mike Douglas Show and The Merv Griffin Show. The album was re-released in 1972 with a different cover on the budget-priced RCA Camden label (CAS-2566), and as a compact disc on February 18, 1997, on the One Way Records label. An edit of "Wonderful WINO" was released as a single (with "Al Sleet, Your Hippy Dippy Weatherman" on the b-side, edited from "The Newscast").

‘George Carlin’s American Dream’ #billburr #kathygriffin #georgecarlin #hbo #hbomax #fabtv #juddapatow #KellyCarlin The words of George Carlin have stayed with us for decades, and have influenced countless comedians. Now, we’ll be able to take a look beyond the curtain to see more of what made the great and powerful comedy icon so, well, truly great and powerful. As announced on Monday (May 2), George Carlin’s American Dream will premiere on HBO on May 20. The two-part documentary series, directed by Judd Apatow and Michael Bonfiglio (Gary Gulman’s The Great Depresh), chronicles the life and work of Carlin, as he rose from growing up in his native Morningside Heights neighborhood in Manhattan to becoming one of the most revered comedic and socially critical voices of all-time over the course of his half century-long career. Aside from detailing his rise to fame through a vast archive of footage, photos, audio recordings and more, the documentary also opens an intimate window that brings us into his personal life from growing up in New York City, to his struggle with drugs, his encounters with the law, and the love he had for his family. And of course, the series touches on the influence Carlin had on comedy and show business in general through interviews with some of the industry’s biggest names including Chris Rock, Jerry Seinfeld, Patton Oswalt, Bill Burr, Bette Midler, Sam Jay, Jon Stewart, W. Kamau Bell and many more.
