NOTE: Statements in this talk have been challenged by other scientists working in this field. Read more here: 🤍 "Desertification is a fancy word for land that is turning to desert," begins Allan Savory in this quietly powerful talk. And terrifyingly, it's happening to about two-thirds of the world's grasslands, accelerating climate change and causing traditional grazing societies to descend into social chaos. Savory has devoted his life to stopping it. He now believes and his work so far shows that a surprising factor can protect grasslands and even reclaim degraded land that was once desert. 023: Can grazing livestock heal the planet by sequestering carbon and reversing desertification through managed movements that mimic nature? Are livestock even more effective than using controlled burns to prevent wildfires? Allan Savory believes so, and his arguments and outcomes are convincing. Allan Savory is the founder of Holistic Management International, a systems-based decision making process that aims to heal ecosystems, using livestock to reverse desertification in brittle environments through natural grazing methods when applicable. His TED Talk on the subject has been viewed close to 8 million times. He is the co-founder of the Savory Institute, an organization aiming to regenerate large areas of grasslands around the world through Holistic Management. The Real Organic Project is a farmer-led movement working towards certifying 1,000 farms across the United States this year. Our add-on food label distinguishes soil-grown fruits and vegetables from hydroponically-raised produce. It also identifies pasture-raised meat, milk, and eggs as compared to products harvested from animals in horrific confinement (CAFOs - confined animal feeding operations). To find a Real Organic farm near you, please visit: 🤍 We believe that the organic standards, with their focus on soil health, biodiversity, and animal welfare were written as they should be. But the current lack of enforcement of those standards is jeopardizing small farms that follow the law. The lack of enforcement is also jeopardizing the overall health of the customers who support the organic movement; customers who are not getting what they pay for at market but are still paying a premium price. The lack of enforcement is jeopardizing the very cycles (water, air, nutrients) that Earth relies upon to provide us all with a place to live, by pushing extractive, chemical agriculture to the forefront. Go to 🤍 and use promo code adamragusea to get 20% off your first order. *RECIPE* eggs (one per person, I do 2-3 in a 10 in / 25 cm pan) milk (1/3 cup, 80mL per egg) flour (1/3 cup, 40g per egg, and I like to replace up to half my flour with starch) salt (a pinch per egg) sugar (1 teaspoon per egg, sweet or savory) vanilla (only for sweet) spreadable cheese, like ricotta/brie/mascarpone (OPTIONAL 1 tablespoon per egg, improves the taste but makes it not puff as much) butter toppings (lemon juice and powdered sugar is nice for sweet, eggs/salami/onion is nice for savory) If possible, warm the eggs and the milk before mixing. Combine the eggs, salt, sugar and vanilla (if using) in a mixing bowl and whisk until frothy. Whisk in the flour until smooth, then whisk in the milk. Or you could just dump all of that in the blender at once. Let the batter sit for at least 20 minutes before baking. Put your pan (nonstick or cast iron) in the oven and get the oven heating to 425ºF/220ºC. When it's all the way hot, take the pan out of the oven and melt in a thick film of butter. Pour in the batter and return the pan to the oven. Bake until puffy and golden (mine took 20 minutes). If you want to cook some eggs on top like I do in the video, bake until almost done, pull it out, put on your eggs/seasonings/onions/salami/whatever and return to the pan for a few minutes until the yolk is as firm as you want it. Transfer to a cooling rack and let it steam out before you eat.

Allen Savory about what science (really) is (and should). 1:45 Fragment of "Return to Eden" by Marijn Poels, beautiful docu, worth to watch, refer to links below. PREFACE Great and powerful description of how students learn/experience science nowadays (actually the wrong way). However this practical true description is not only suitable for science, this treatment of students and later on behaviour is everywhere when it comes to a profession that needs something extremely new to achieve. Mostly (and sadly) the real new fresh insights (out-of-the-box) must come from the outside because people learned to trust only what is documented in the official (peer-reviewed) papers. We can behold this not only at science but also in politics, farming, environment, automation, healthcare, medical, schooling, energy and so on. - TEXT What Is science? People talk glibbery about science. What Is science? People coming out of a univerisity with a masterdegree or PhD and when you take them into the field, and they letterly don't believe anything if it is not in a peer-reviewed paper. That is the only thing they accept. And when you say something: let's observe, let's think, let's discuss, they don't do it! They say: "Is it in a peer-review or not?" That is their view of science. I think that is pathetic! They go into universities as bright young people and come out of it brain dead, not even knowing what science means. They think it means pear-reviewed papers etc, no! That is academia. And if a paper is peer-reviewed, it means everybody thought the same before they approved it. An unintended consequence is that when new knowledge amurges, new scientific insights, they can never ever be peer-reviewed.So we blocking all new advances in science, that are big advances. If you look back to the breakthroughs in science, almost always the don't come from the centre of that profession, they come from the fringe, people see it differently. The finest candlemakers in the world couldn't even think of electric lights. They don't come from within, the offers come from the outside the breaks. We going to kill ourselves because of stupidity. Stuffed French Toast with Gruyere, Mustard Greens and Double-Smoked Bacon RECIPE COURTESY OF BOBBY FLAY Level: Intermediate Total: 1 hr 5 min Active: 1 hr 5 min Yield: 4 servings Ingredients 1/4 cup creme fraiche 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard Few dashes hot sauce Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper 6 slices double-smoked bacon 1 small red onion, halved and thinly sliced 1 pound mustard greens, ribs removed, coarsely chopped 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar Salt and freshly ground black pepper 3 large eggs 1 large egg yolk 2 cups half-and-half 3 tablespoons grated Parmesan Eight 1/2-inch slices sourdough or pain de mie bread 8 slices Gruyere or Swiss cheese 2 tablespoons canola oil 2 tablespoons butter Directions Whisk together the creme fraiche, mustard and hot sauce in a small bowl, and season with salt and pepper. Set aside. Set a medium cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Add the bacon and cook until crisp, turning once, about 8 minutes. Drain on a paper-towel-lined plate, and then cut the slices into thirds. Add the red onions to the skillet and cook, stirring frequently, until softened and starting to caramelize, 1 to 2 minutes. Stir in the mustard greens, sprinkle with salt and pepper, and cook until just starting to wilt, 2 to 3 minutes. Stir in the vinegar, and then transfer the greens to a bowl. Whisk together the eggs, egg yolk and half-and-half in a baking dish until smooth. Add the Parmesan and some salt and pepper; whisk until combined. Spread the bread slices with some of the creme fraiche mixture, and top with a slice of Gruyere. Top half of the slices with 3 or 4 pieces of bacon and a little mound of greens. Turn the remaining slices, cheese-side down, on top of the greens and press down to make sandwiches. Working in batches of two, soak the sandwiches in the egg mixture on both sides until just soaked, about 2 minutes per side. Heat 1 tablespoon of the canola oil and 1 tablespoon of the butter in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. (If you have a skillet large enough to cook all four sandwiches at once, add all of the oil and butter now.) Add two sandwiches to the skillet, reduce the heat to medium-low, and fry until crisp, golden and cooked through on both sides, about 5 minutes per sidecover the pan if needed to help the cheese melt, and adjust the heat to prevent the French toast from burning. Repeat with the remaining oil, butter and sandwiches. Halve the cooked sandwiches on the diagonal and serve hot. 🤍 🤍 🤍 Subscribe to our channel to fill up on the latest must-eat recipes, brilliant kitchen hacks and content from your favorite Food Network shows. ► FOOD NETWORK KITCHEN APP: 🤍 ► WEBSITE: 🤍 ► FULL EPISODES: 🤍 ► FACEBOOK: 🤍 ► INSTAGRAM: 🤍 ► TWITTER: 🤍 #BrunchAtBobbys #BobbyFlay #FoodNetwork #StuffedFrenchToast Bobby Flay Makes Savory Stuffed French Toast | Brunch 🤍 Bobby’s | Food Network 🤍
I wanted to make a true savory cheesecake, which would have the same texture and mouthfeel as the iconic dessert, but without the sweetness. My vision for this was something that could be served for lunch on a hot summer day with a crisp salad, or some marinated seasonal vegetables. Enjoy!
