Oaxaca City is the capital of the state of Oaxaca in southwestern Mexico. It’s truly one of the best places to visit in Mexico thanks to its mix of interesting history, world-class cuisine, and colorful examples of indigenous and colonial cultures. 10 INCREDIBLE Things To Do In & Around Oaxaca City: 10. Watch the sunset Since Oaxaca city is surrounded by mountains, it’s possible to enjoy wonderful sunsets and sunrises here. Go to any rooftop in the city or hike up to the “Auditorio Guelaguetza” for an amazing view. 9. Indulge in the Oaxacan Cuisine From some of the best experimental restaurants to delicious street food, the Oaxacan cuisine is uniquely influenced by its cultural diversity. The area is best known for its 7 varieties of mole, which is a complex, sweet sauce often served with chicken and rice. Other must-try dishes include “tlayudas” and “tamales Oaxaqueños”. ☑️ Cooking class: 🤍 8. Hike at Pueblos Mancomunados About a 1.5 hour drive from Oaxaca City, you can find the Pueblos Mancomunados. We visited the largest village, named Cuajimoloyas, which was easiest to get to by local bus from Oaxaca City. There are a wide variety of outdoor activities you can do here including hiking, mountain biking, ziplining and bird watching. 7. Visit the Local Markets “Mercado veinte de Noviembre” and “Mercado Benito Juárez” are great places to start and dive into the extraordinary food this area has to offer. They are both located in the historic center, just one block from the main square “Zócalo”. 6. Visit a mezcalería It would be a shame to visit Oaxaca and not try its most famous spirit made from agave plants. There are many mezcalerías in the city where you can taste mezcal. But for a real authentic experience, head out of town and visit one of the surrounding mezcal distilleries, also called “palenques”. 5. Day trip to Mitla Located about 31 miles, or 50km to the south of Oaxaca City sits the town of Mitla. Here, you can visit ruins that are of Zapotec and Mixtec origin as well as Prehistoric caves, which provided shelter for centuries with rock-art evidence from 10,000 years ago. 4. Visit the Historic Downtown (Free Walking Tour) The city of Oaxaca has been able to preserve its unique character thanks to its beautiful colors and interesting architecture. Every day at 10AM and 5PM you can meet a local guide at the Teatro Macedonio Alcalá to do a free walking tour. ☑️ Free walking tour: 🤍 3. Join local festivities Oaxaca is known to have some of the most incredible festivities where the creativity of the locals is expressed at its best. You can find entertainment in the city throughout the entire year. 2. Monte Albán The historic settlement of Monte Albán is located on a mountaintop just 8 kms, or 5miles to the west of Oaxaca City. Founded in the 6th century B.C., it functioned as the Zapotecs capital between 500 B.C. and 800 A.D. and was once home to some 35,000 people. ☑️ Monte Alban tour: 🤍 1. Hierve el Agua Located 1 hour and 45 mins from Oaxaca City, Hierve el Agua is truly one of the most unique natural wonders in Mexico. You can hike to the top and the bottom of the waterfalls or freshen up at the infinity pool, which offers some amazing views of the surrounding mountains. 🎦 Note: some drone footage is courtesy of Canva ⬇️ FREE DOWNLOAD: Top 100 Bucket List Destinations: 🤍 ✅ SUBSCRIBE: 🤍 😊 FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA: 🤍 🤍 📺 MORE VIDEOS YOU WILL ENJOY: - Puerto Escondido Things to Do: 🤍 - Best of the Yucatan Peninsula: 🤍 - Chiapas: Best Places to Visit: 🤍 ✏️ BLOG POST YOU WILL ENJOY: 🤍 🎵 MUSIC CREDITS: Rejoice in the morning by The David Roy Collective Miss Cuba by Anthony Vega Tierra De Nadie by Migra Live Good Always by Rafi B. OAXACA, MEXICO (2022) | The Perfect Oaxaca Travel Itinerary (Coast to the Mountains in 2-3 weeks)

16.04.2022

Oaxaca lies in the southwest of Mexico. It’s made up of a vast coastline and rugged mountains, with narrow valleys, canyons and ravines between them. Oaxaca is best known for its unique cuisine as well as its indigenous people and cultures. The largest indigenous groups are the Zapotecs and the Mixtecs, but there are sixteen groups that are officially recognized. These cultures have survived better than most others in Mexico thanks to the state's isolating terrain and commitment to honoring traditions. In this video, we will show you the perfect Oaxaca itinerary. This itinerary is recommended for at least a 14 day stay in Oaxaca and can be completed by public transportation, rental car, or a mix of both! Stop 1: Puerto Escondido How to get here: Direct flights from Mexico City and Guadalajara Recommended stay: 3-5 days Stop 2: Mazunte How to get here: Bus from Puerto Escondido to Pochutla and tell the bus driver that you want to get off at San Antonio. From there, you’ll have to take a taxi or local collectivo. Recommended stay: 1-2 days Stop 3: Zipolite How to get here: 20-minute taxi ride from Mazunte Recommended stay: 1-2 days Stop 4: San José del Pacifico How to get here: Bus from "Lineas Unidas" Bus station in Zipolite directly to José del Pacifico Recommended stay: 2-3 days Stop 5: Oaxaca City How to get here: Bus from San José del Pacifico main road to Oaxaca City (bus leaves every hour) Recommended stay: 7 days including day trips as mentioned below Stop 6: Mitla How to get there? Take a bus or rent a car from Oaxaca City, which will take you here in approximately 1 hour. Recommended stay: day trip Stop 7: Hierve el Agua How to get there? Located 70 kms or 43 miles from Oaxaca City, this is another site you can do as a day trip. You can rent a car or take a tour from Oaxaca. Alternatively, you can come by collectivo from Mitla. Recommended stay: day trip Stop 8: Pueblos Mancomunados How to get there? There are buses to Cuajimoloyas and Benito Juárez that leave from the “second class” bus station in Oaxaca City a few times a day. The driver will drop you off near the “tourist office” where you can book your activities and accommodation. Recommended stay: 1-5 days Where to next? After exploring the highlights of Oaxaca, you can continue your journey across other states in Mexico. The most common travel route goes to the southeast to San Cristobal de las Casas in Chiapas. It’s possible to take the ADO night bus from Oaxaca City, which takes about 12 hours. Alternatively, you can head to the north towards Puebla and Mexico City. Puebla is another beautiful city and gateway to the surrounding mountains and volcanoes. It takes about 4 hours to get here. ⬇️ FREE DOWNLOAD: Top 100 Bucket List Destinations: 🤍 ✅ SUBSCRIBE: 🤍 😊 FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA: 🤍 🤍 📺 MORE VIDEOS YOU WILL ENJOY: - Puerto Escondido Things to Do: 🤍 - Oaxaca City Things to Do: 🤍 - Chiapas: Best Places to Visit: 🤍 - San Cristobal De Las Casas Things to Do: 🤍 ✏️ BLOG POST YOU WILL ENJOY: 🤍 🎵 MUSIC CREDITS: Rejoice in the morning by The David Roy Collective El Mayor by Las Pampas Layla by Tarante Groove Machine Pueblos by Migra Juan by Turante Groove Machine The Heart Knows by Idan Balas 🎥 VIDEO CHAPTERS: 0:00 Intro 1:42 Puerto Escondido 2:40 Mazunte 4:02 Zipolite 4:44 San José del Pacifico 6:14 Oaxaca City 7:34 Mitla 8:46 Hierve el Agua 9:47 Pueblos Mancomunados 11:10 Where to next? #oaxaca #mexico #itinerary

Oaxaca has one of the most developed and advanced food cultures in all of Mexico. For our first day, we set out on a Mexican street food tour of Oaxaca, eating everything we could see. Mercado de Abastos - We began the morning at one of the biggest local fresh food markets in Oaxaca. I samples a Tamal de Mole - 11 MXN ($0.59) and a hot Chocolate - 10 MXN ($0.53), both of which were delicious, and a great way to start this tour. Soup - 30 MXN ($1.60) per bowl - The market was just opening, but there was a busy soup stall, so we stopped to have a bowl. The fish and shrimp soup were both delicious. Memelas - 30 MXN ($1.60) total - One of the ultimate Mexican street foods to try in Oaxaca is memalas, a round of masa, cooked and topped with salsa and cheese, and your choice of other toppings. We got it with grilled meat on top. It was delicious, one of the best things I ate throughout the day. Carnitas - 30 MXN ($1.60) total - This was just a quick impulse taco on the go because it looked so good… it was. Zócalo Oaxaca, Plaza de Santo Domingo - The center of Oaxaca is a pleasant place to hang out, only today there happen to be a protest going on, so it was a bit busy. Mercado 20 de Noviembre - Meat combo - 300 MXN ($16.02) - This is one of the great meat halls of the world. You walk in to the meat sauna, choose your meat, they grill it all in front of you, and you eat it with tortillas and salsa. An amazing food paradise. Tlayudas El Negro - Tlayudas are another common Oaxacan street food, using giant tortillas filled with beans, cabbage, and cheese, and then grilled. Price - 80 MXN ($4.27) for 1 Monte Albán - Resting our stomachs, we did a little sightseeing in Oaxaca. One of the famous attractions are the ruins of Monte Alban. Elote - 20 MXN ($1.07) - You’ll find elotes, a corn on the cobb with cheese and salsas, all over Mexico. It’s one of the most common Mexican street foods… but this guy is at the main plaza of Oaxaca is on another level. His style is champion! Mole negro - 60 MXN ($3.20) per plate - Finally to end this Mexican street food tour of Oaxaca, we needed to have a plate of mole negro, one of the national dishes of Oaxaca. It was an amazing day of food. Oaxaca has such a rich culture of food and friendly people. In this video we are walking around Oaxaca, Mexico in El Centro area. We interact with several different local people and just take in the culture of the area. It was kind of in the middle of nowhere and it turned into an absolutely unforgettable trip. I came to Oaxaca, Mexico with my best friend 🤍My Trish Advisor for my 30th birthday and was not disappointed! To start our day, we walked from our hotel to a secluded beach called Playa Estacahuite where we got acquainted with a local who gave us the most unique and exotic experiences ever! For instance, while snorkeling he caught a puffer fish for us to pet and later brought sea urchins to the table to examine...then eat! My hotel for this trip was called Casa Bichu and it's located in the Mexican state of Oaxaca about 30 minutes away the "pueblo magico" (magic town) of Mazunte. This hotel had really unique Tulum-style designs and amazing views of the Pacific Ocean. Oaxacan Mole Negro - THE MOST MYSTERIOUS Mexican Food in Oaxaca Village, Mexico!

Mole negro is one of the most amazing Mexican foods! ►SUBSCRIBE for 2 new videos per week: 🤍 ►T-shirts available now: 🤍 Cooking Oaxacan mole negro from scratch was one of the best food and cultural experiences I’ve ever had. On top of that, we didn’t really know what we were going to do when we set off in the morning… but things worked out for the best. Thank you to Javier and his family for inviting us into their home to cook amazing Oaxacan food! So in the morning the plan was Rent a van for the day Drive to a village Find a market Ask a nice Grandmother or Aunty to cook us some authentic Oaxacan mole negro Now, mole negro is one of the most complex and mysterious of all the Oaxacan Mexican food dishes. There’s such a huge mix of random ingredients in the dish, and no one knows for sure how it was invented or how it came about - there are only legends. After renting a van for the day, our driver Javier came to pick us up and we started talking with him to see if he knew anyone that would make us Oaxacan mole negro from scratch. He called his Mom, and she agreed! We picked up Mom in a place called Tlacolula de Matamoros, and we went straight to the market to buy all the ingredients for mole negro. Tlacolula de Matamoros is a predominantly Zapotec town, an Indigenous pre-Columbian civilization from the Valley of Oaxaca We got back to the house and started preparing all the ingredients. Let me tell you, mole negro has to be one of the most complex and mysterious of all Mexican food. It includes so many random and seemingly odd ingredients. It was a lot of fun to learn how to make it. The end result of the Oaxacan mole negro, was supreme. The sauce was so rich, chocolatey, and you could taste all the random ingredients in it - the nuts and dried fruit. It’s deliciously complex. Mole was amazing, and having the chance to hang out in a traditional Oaxacan village to cook was priceless. 🎵 Where I Get My Music From – Try it 1 month FREE: 🤍 Sometimes it feels like travel is just an endless journey to the town down the road. We arrive somewhere, and everything is surprising and fresh. Then after a short period of time, it becomes comfortable. It becomes, in a sense, our home. And then we’re off again. We’re looking down the road for the next spot, that can surprise us, and give us that feeling again, where everything is new. Well, in Puerto Escondido, the town down the road is Mazunte. Some people go there to surf. Some people go there to rest. Some people go there for spiritual reasons. Why am I going there? Well, it’s as I said before. It’s the town down the road. And when you’re a traveller. Sometimes that is reason enough. Our pleasant Saturday night took a scary turn after we were followed by an angry man. We also have some big news to share about travel in 2021. ►Subscribe to our free email newsletter: 🤍 On our way to dinner in Oaxaca, Mexico we realized a man was following us. We stepped off to the side to let him pass and he got inexplicably angry. The man started shouting obscenities at us in Spanish, even after we crossed the street to get away from him. We've traveled around Mexico for 3 years and never had something like this happen. It was pretty scary. After eating dinner at a tapas and wine bar, we share some major news that will affect travel in 2021. An executive order was just released that will require anyone traveling internationally into the United States will not only have to show a negative COVID-19 test to fly, they will also have to quarantine upon return. This caused a lot of craziness in our week because we have a necessary business trip to the US coming soon. • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • ABOUT ME I'm Jordan and am an American living in Mexico with my Husky, Laska. OUR FIRST IMPRESSIONS OF OAXACA CITY MEXICO | Best Things to Do Oaxaca

17.04.2022

Our first impressions of Oaxaca City Mexico take us all around the city looking for the best things to do. We start out in Mercado De Noviembre right in Meat Alley. Meat Alley otherwise known as the aisle of smoke is a great place for lunch with locals. The entire alley is filled with vendors selling grilled meats and vegetables. Next we try out some Mezcal at El Rey de Los Mezcales. Up next is the sketchiest market in all of Oaxaca, Mercado de Alabastos, according to some people. Many locals told us to not go or to hide all of our valuables in our shoes. Here we talk with stall owners and take more Mezcal shots with locals. After the market we head to the most beautiful church in Oaxaca, Templo de Santo Domingo which is named a Unesco World Heritage site for its history and beauty. Last but not least is the Benito Juarez market which is the oldest market in Oaxaca to get some Tejate, which is a traditional Oaxacan cacao drink. Lastly we give our final first impressions and what we truly think about Oaxaca.   #OaxacaMexico #Oaxaca #TravelVlog   Connect With Us! We try Oaxacan food for the first time in Oaxaca City, Mexico with a local on this food tour. Oaxacan Cuisine is known as the heartland of Mexico. Most staple Mexican ingredients are grown here. Even the cooking methods of the comal, hot plate, and grilling originated here. Come along on this food tour as we start out in the Mercado de la Merced where we try Chocolate de Atole, Salsa de Queso, Sausage, grind our own corn and make fresh blue corn tortillas for Huevos al Comal with Holy Leaf. Next we try some of the best Mamelas in town, stop at an artisanal Chocolate shop, make our way to Mercado Sanchez Pascuas where we get some juice and try out the native fruits and vegetables. Next we head to the Benito Juarez market, where we eat Chapulines, or grass hoppers. Last but not least we make it to the meat alley in Mercado 20 de Noviembre and then walk over to Comedor Leo and get some of the best Mole we've ever had in our lives. Last but not least we finish out our day at a nice restaurant, Las Quince Letras, to test out our knew knowledge and order a big Oaxacan dinner.   #OaxacaMexico #Oaxaca #TravelVlog   Culinary Backstreets Food Tour: 🤍   Connect With Us! PUERTO ESCONDIDO, MEXICO (2022) | 6 Things You HAVE TO do in Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca

Puerto Escondido is a laid-back beach town located along the West Coast in the State of Oaxaca. It’s one of the most popular beach destinations along the Oaxacan coast, attracting mostly surfers and backpackers. Once you set foot in Puerto Escondido, you’ll fall madly in love with the beaches, authentic food, and relaxed vibes. In this video, we highlight 6 things that you cannot miss in Puerto Escondido. Spend at least 3 to 5 days in the area to be able to fit them all in! 6. Beach Hike from Playa Principal to Playa Manzanillo At number 6 we have the beach hike from Playa Principal to Playa Manzanillo. The walkway sits right next to the water and starts from the western end of Playa Principal. It has a few scenic overlooks and you can spot many birds and crabs along the way. It takes about 1.5 to 2 hours to get to Playa Manzanillo, where you can refresh in the calm waters or have a drink! 5. Try Local Food The state of Oaxaca in general is known for its delicious cuisine. With ingredients such as chocolate, Oaxaca cheese, mezcal, grasshoppers, and mole sauce, there’s so many unique dishes that you have to try. 4. Manialtepec Lagoon / Bioluminescence Only a short 20-minute drive from Puerto Escondido sits the Manialtepec Lagoon. This beautiful lake is a sanctuary for birds and home to bioluminescent plankton. It’s a peaceful and quiet place that is best explored by boat tour or by kayak. ☑️ Turtle release + bioluminescence tour: 🤍 3. Day Trip To Mazunte Another great thing to do when you’re in Puerto Escondido is to visit the nearby sleepy town of Mazunte. To get to there, you can take a local bus from Puerto Escondido. Flag down the bus to Pochutla and hop on until you reach San Antonio. From there you’ll have to take a taxi or local collectivo. Known for its small beach bays, hippie vibes, and sweeping vistas of the Pacific Ocean, Mazunte has a certain charm to it. 2. Surf & hit the beaches Incredible surf conditions are what put Puerto Escondido on the map. It’s known as one of the top surf destinations in the world with the biggest waves coming between April and October at the northern end of Playa Zicatela. But if you’re not an advanced surfer, you can surf the gentler waves at Playa Carrizalillo or La Punta. And of course, you don't have to have an interest in surfing to enjoy the beaches in Puerto Escondido. There are eight beautiful beaches that are waiting to be explored. Our favorite ones include the crescent-shaped beach of Carrizalillo, the large Playa Bacocho, and the bohemian La Punta. 1. Release Baby Turtles Turtle conservation is a big issue in Puerto Escondido and volunteers monitor more than 30 km of beaches around Puerto Escondido to ensure the turtle eggs don’t get stolen by local people who eat them. They also have several turtle egg hatcheries to help shade the eggs from the sun, which is an important part of the conservation. Every day at Playa Bacocho, baby turtles are released into the ocean. You can pay 100 pesos (5$) to partake in the release at 5pm. You’ll also learn about the turtles and the project. The money you pay goes towards the project, which is a great initiative if you ask us! ⬇️ FREE DOWNLOAD: Top 100 Bucket List Destinations: 🤍 ✅ SUBSCRIBE: 🤍 😊 FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA: 🤍 🤍 📺 MORE VIDEOS YOU WILL ENJOY: - Best of the Yucatan Peninsula: 🤍 - Chiapas: Best Places to Visit: 🤍 ✏️ BLOG POST YOU WILL ENJOY: 🤍 🎵 MUSIC CREDITS: Rejoice in the morning by The David Roy Collective Rat Trap by Energy Plus Salta Montes by Migra Atlantic Breeze by Dan Zeitune 🎥 VIDEO CHAPTERS: 0:00 Intro 1:27 Beach walkway 2:30 Try local food 3:02 Laguna Manialtepec 3:57 Day trip to Mazunte 5:10 Puerto Escondido Beaches 6:05 Baby Turtle Release #puertoescondido #mexico #oaxaca
