Namibia: Live stream in the Namib Desert

Live feed, from a waterhole in the heart of Namibia Complementing the magnificence of the Namib Desert’s never-ending red sand dunes, Namibia Cam’s waterhole lies within the Gondwana Namib Park - bordering the Namib Naukluft Park. In this park, all man-made barriers have been removed, creating a space over 56,540 square kilometers (meaning 21,830 sq mi) - wildlife moves freely between the two parks and the other privately owned guest farms. In Gondwana Namib Park the Namib experience covers two sides. Three, in fact, as under the reddish sand there is brown sandstone – the fossilised dunes of an ancient Namib. Then there is the World Heritage Site of ‘Namib Sand Sea’, and only 60 km further south, the Namib shows yet another face: the valley of the ephemeral Tsauchab River – which cuts through the surging sand-sea and ends in famed Sossusvlei. But along with the fossilised dunes, Namib Sand Sea and Tsauchab River, a glorious new display has risen. Built in 2006, the special character of this waterhole, has not only an impact on the surrounding wildlife, but stretches across the globe, from home to home. This particular waterhole is situated within an open plain, 8km from Namib Desert Lodge. A solar-powered borehole fills a nearby reservoir and is monitored by a water float that opens as the waterhole’s levels decline. Being situated within a remote destination like the Namib Desert, intermittent interruptions are likely to occur at times. Two brothers died in an earth dam at Eenhana- nbc

Two brothers died instantly this morning following a freak accident in an earth dam at Eenhana in the Ohangwena Region.  Preliminary investigations revealed that the two were part of a group of four men whose motor vehicle, a Toyota Hilux, was being reversed to the edge of the earth dam for the occupants to draw water and fill containers for their brick-making business when the car flipped and fell into the dam, being submerged within minutes.

Namibian LGBTQ+ Pageant Model: ‘I had to live my truth’ - BBC Africa

Gracia Kibangu became the first openly queer woman to not only participate in a Namibian beauty pageant, but to win. The 22-year-old model took part in the 2021 Miss Face of Namibia beauty competition and won the Miss Congeniality category, as well as being named the third runner up overall. Gracia said it felt important to speak her truth on a national platform as she wanted to be authentic about her advocacy for the LGBTQ+ community - especially following a number of high profile cases of discrimination against the community in Namibia in 2021. Members of the LGBTQ+ community in many African countries feel they have to hide their orientation to avoid hostility and discrimination. Namibian descendants urge Germany to amend genocide deal | DW News

It was seen as an historic agreement. Last year, Germany apologized for atrocities it committed in Namibia in the colonial era. Between 1904 and 1908, German soldiers killed tens of thousands of Ovaherero and Nama people in what became known as the first genocide of the 20th century. As part of last year's deal, Berlin also agreed to fund projects for the groups worth more than one billion Euros. But descendants of the victims are unhappy with the agreement. They say it is not enough and that they were excluded from the negotiations. And now they are urging Germany to change it. Namibian History - The Old Location

Namibia’s Vice President, Nangolo Mbumba together with the Prime Minister Saara Kuugongelwa Amadthila, the Speaker of the National Assembly, Prof. Peter Katjavivi, the Chairperson of the National Council Bernard Sibalatani, the Governor of the Khomas Region Laura McLeod-Katjirua, members of the diplomatic corps, members of NamPol and the NDF as well as contempory witnesses, cultural groups and a few hundred Namibians gathered on Tuesday morning at the Old location Cemetery in Hochlandpark, to commemorate International Human Rights Day, the 60th anniversary of Namibia Women´s day and the 60th anniversary of the fateful day in the Old Location in Windhoek. Vice President Mbumba said that Chapter 3 of the Namibian Constitution is one of the cornerstones of our fundamental freedoms which cannot be amended. Namibia’s women were remembered especially Kakurukaze Mungunda who together with eleven heroines and heroes paid the ultimate price when resisting to be moved to Katutura. Paulina Hangala, a 1959 forced removal survivor told the audience what happened 60 years ago. The events of that day 60 years ago were shown by a performance of the Old Location Women’s Group. After the remarks of various speakers, Vice President Mbumba and Prime Minister Kuugongelwa Amadthila laid a wreath at the memorial site of those who died on the 10th December 1959. “Due to the heroic deeds of Kakurukaze Mungunda and other women of note, who stood up for their rights, this day is also being commemorated as Namibia Women´s Day as well as International Human Rights Day in our country”, Mbumba pointed out. - • Subscribe To Gondwana: 🤍 • Gondwana Website: 🤍 • Namibia 2 Go Travels: 🤍 - Website & Newsletter • Newsletter Signup: 🤍 • More Gondwana Info: 🤍 - Let's Connect: • Facebook: 🤍 • Instagram: 🤍 - Video Produced By: (Camera & Cut) • Web: 🤍 • Email: hello🤍
