What you see here is the McLaren F1 GTR #01R, the overall winner of the 1995 Le Mans 24 Hours, raced by Lanzante Motorsport (Kokusai Kaihatsu Racing). This beauty is powered by BMW's S70/2 6.0 liter NA V12 engine producing an amazing exhaust note! Video has been recorded during the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2018. By popular demand, we decided to publish some bonus onboard footage of the McLaren F1's BMW S70/2 doing what it does best, making pure, awesome V12 noises. Here's the main F1 video: 🤍 In its day, the McLaren F1 seized headlines for its record-breaking top speed, but in reality, that was never one of the car’s performance objectives and it is actually one of the least interesting features of the car. In this video, Derek Tam-Scott discusses many of the more interesting parts of the F1. Such as the fact that the car’s designer, Gordon Murray, tried to be allowed to sit in the car while it was crash tested. Or the fact that it’s almost exactly the same size as a Porsche Boxster. And 10 inches shorter than a modern 911, 2.5 feet shorter than an XJ220, and 700 pounds lighter than either. Or the fact that the production manager for the car once spent an entire weekend going to grocery stores looking for the perfect eggplant (well, aubergine) to match its color at the request of the customer who had ordered a car. And much more. The car is of course one of the most revered and desired cars of all time. Derek asks (and answers) whether it’s overhyped or whether the car truly does deserve the attention it receives. He also explores the origins of the car, starting with Gordon Murray’s Formula 1 cars at Brabham and McLaren, and on through the development of the F1, including why the car is powered by a BMW Motorsport engine. In the course of this discussion, he reveals the almost innumerable reasons why the car is so unlike any other car before or since, a key part of its enduring legacy. BTS (behind the scenes) with DTS: Derek Tam-Scott’s spirit age is excess of 75 years old, and nowhere is that clearer than his taste in cars. At age 16, he went to work at one of the United States' foremost vintage car dealers, which cemented his elderly taste. Now with a decade and a half’s experience buying, selling, driving, and brokering classic and exotic cars, he’s experienced many of the world’s most iconic cars. And even liked some of them. Most of the car enthusiasts of Derek’s generation (and well, let’s be honest, even a generation or two before him) don’t have much experience with the magic of vintage cars prior to the 1980s, and therefore lack the knowledge and exposure to get genuinely excited about them. The goal of BTS is to give an insider’s perspective on why these cars particularly are great...or at least interesting and noteworthy. Derek brings his encyclopedic knowledge and broad experience together to contextualize these cars to give the audience understanding of both why it matters, and what it’s actually like to experience the cars. These two fantastic McLaren F1 GTRs were at the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed both for McLaren F1's 30th anniversary and BMW M Motorsport 50th anniversary celebrations. The two cars are chassis 23R, one of the BMW Schnitzer Team featuring the iconic FINA livery, and chassis 28R, the ex-Gulf Team Davidoff. Only 10 examples were built in these ''Longtail'' specs. The GTR Longtail was powered by an extensive modified BMW S70 V12 engine that was de-stroked from the 'original' 6,064 cc down to 5,990 cubic centimetres in an attempt to prolong the life of the engines. The max power remained the same at 600hp (but with air restrictors). Compared to the GTR 'Short Tail' the Lontgail was almost 100kg lighter (915 kg vs 1,012 kg) and the standard manual gearbox was replaced with a new X-trac 6-speed sequential transmission. The greatest exhaust sound in the history of the universe, from the McLaren-Mercedes cars in 2000 and 2001, with both cars piloted by Mika Hakkinen and David Coulthard. Here it is, the full Sunday demonstration of Ayrton Senna's amazing McLaren MP4/6 championship-winning F1 car as it screamed round Goodwood. With Bruno Senna at the wheel, Ayrton's nephew and a former Formula 1 driver himself, the McLaren Mp4/6's naturally aspirated Honda V12 sounded incredible as it flew round the south downs for these wonderful demonstration laps. This car was on my "must film" list for a couple of years so far and now I can be enough happy to have recorded it. I said "enough happy" because I didn't fully appreciate the real sound of this car because I'm quite sure the two drivers have been forced to change gear very soon (2000-3000 rpm before the actual red line) but you can enjoy a couple of shots where the sound is really on point (1:00, 1:57 and 2:46). The 1991 McLaren MP4/6 is powered by a Honda 3.5-litre V12 engine which was able to produce 720 hp at 13,800 rpm with a red line at 14,800 rpm. This particular one is chassis number 10 and it's the only MP4/6 fitted with a fully functional Spec-3 version of the RA121E V12 engine. Listen to it being driven at Goodwood Festival of Speed 2017 by Nyck de Vries and Nobuharu Matsushita! #McLarenMP46 #MP46 #McLarenHonda I have to thank my friend and youtuber NM2255 (🤍 for letting me use his shots taken during the event. Finally, after all these years of filming cars, today was the day I saw a McLaren F1 GTR in action for the very first time! It's a 1997 Longtail version. To be more specific, it's the 26R (26/28) chassis that finished 3rd in the 1997 24 Hours of Le Mans. This legendary race car is powered by a 6.0 litre naturally aspirated V12 engine, built by BMW. The car is currently owned by BMW Germany. They were kind enough to make it available for display during the 2018 Historic Grand Prix in Zandvoort (The Netherlands). Car: 1997 McLaren-BMW F1 GTR Chassis: 26R Engine: 6.0 L (5990cc) NA V12 (BMW S70/3) Power: 600 bhp Torque: 651 nm Transmission: 6 speed sequential Weight: 915 kg (2017 lbs) Make sure to follow me on Instagram 🤍lars_mars_cars 🤍

The regulations pegged its power below 600bhp, so the racer was actually slightly less powerful. The GTRs also had to be fitted with steel roll-cages, the steering rack ratios were quicker, and the rubber bushing in the suspension was removed. Development of downforce was limited to a single day in the wind-tunnel under Murray’s direction, while the OZ Racing wheels concealed even larger discs and calipers. Bellm loved the car. “As a result of the changes, it didn’t load up in the same way [as the standard car] and you could really zip it around,” he revealed. The fact that the F1 GTR entree by Tokyo Ueno Clinic Team went on to win the famed endurance classic at the first attempt underlined the integrity of the original design. There was also a simple moral correctness to such a car being victorious at Le Mans: the F1 GTR was essentially a road car, which is what Le Mans had originally been about. Seven GTRs started, apart from the winners, four finished third, fourth, fifth and 13th.[/quote] Filmed between 2011-2019 at Circuit Spa-Francorchamps, Zandvoort, Nürburgring, Goodwood and Chantilly Concours D"Elegance Filmed with Canon Powershot S2 IS Canon Legria HF M46 + DM-100 microphone Canon Legria HF G40 + DM-100 microphone Canon EOS 7D Related video 🤍 My pictures 🤍 🤍 Follow me on Facebook and instagram 🤍 🤍 #mclaren #f1gtr #mclarenf1gtr - keywords - loud engine exhaust sound idle revs revving car automobile racecar canon legria hf g40 DM-100 dm100 mic microphone motorsport autosport auto car cars vehicle 1995 1996 1997 1998 mclaren f1 gtr longtail lm lemans le mans 2011 2012 2013 2014 2015 2016 2017 2018 2019 Circuit spa Francorchamps Zandvoort Nürburgring Goodwood fos festival of speed Chantilly Concours D"Elegance v12 bmw s70 s70-3 s703 fina gulf harrods lanzante davidoff

The MP4/6 was the first McLaren to be powered by a Honda V12 engine, which was rated at 725 bhp (541 kW; 735 PS). The car was tested by Berger in the off-season, but he was unimpressed with the new engine, feeling it was underpowered compared to the 690 bhp (515 kW; 700 PS) V10 engine used in the 1990 car, the MP4/5B. When Senna returned for pre-season testing he and Berger, along with Honda, knuckled down to try to solve the engine's problems. McLaren's domination in the early part of the year was mainly due to the lack of reliability of the 700 bhp (522 kW; 710 PS) Renault V10-powered Williams FW14. The MP4/6 raced throughout 1991 with a manual "H" pattern gearbox. A semi-automatic transmission was tested during the season (and shown at the Hungarian Grand Prix) but was never regarded as good enough to be used in a race; Ferrari and Williams were the only teams to use semi-automatic gearboxes during 1991. The MP4/6 would go down as the last Formula One car to win a World Championship using a manual transmission or a V12 engine. Senna won the first four races of the season, in the United States, Brazil, San Marino and Monaco, before Williams and Nigel Mansell found their feet with the FW14, which dominated in mid-season. Consistent podium finishes throughout the year helped McLaren, but Senna insisted that Honda step up their engine development program and demanded further improvements to the car before it was too late. Honda responded with an updated version of the V12 engine, while Oatley redesigned various features of the car, particularly the sidepods and wings. Senna won in Hungary and Belgium before clinching his third and final Drivers' Championship in Japan with second place behind Berger; he then won the final race in Australia to secure the team's fourth consecutive Constructors' Championship. McLaren continued with the MP4/6, upgraded to 'B' specification, for the first two races of 1992, Senna finishing third in South Africa. The car was then replaced with the official 1992 car, the MP4/7A, though three MP4/6Bs were brought to the 1992 Brazilian Grand Prix as spares. The MP4/6 was considered by some to be the most competitive car in the Formula One field until Williams sorted the FW14, which was aerodynamically and technically more advanced. In all, the MP4/6 took eight Grand Prix wins and ten pole positions, and scored 148 points. The car brought a close to McLaren's domination of the sport, stretching back to the mid-1980s.

CvdZijden records this amazing Mclaren F1 GTR at the Nurburgring last week! It is one of my favorite Le Mans car also with the Sauber Mercedes C9/C11, unfortunately that car was not present that day! The Mclaren F1 GTR did alot of laps on the circuit, but after one lap he came in. Because there were 2 seats in this car, so some lucky people get a ride in this machine!! The sound is just fantastic, never expected that!! This car has not a Mclaren engine but a BMW engine and this car cost over the 2.000.000 euro!!! In this video you will see some fly-by's, accelerations and the backfire with some flames! I hope you will enjoy this video and don't forget to leave a comment here below :) Thanks for watching! The incredible McLaren F1 GTR Longtail, one of the most iconic race cars ever, hits the streets of London. This was the racing version of the iconic 3 seat BMW V12 powered McLaren F1 supercar designed by Gordon Murray. The car has been road-converted by specialists Lanzante and is now fully road-registered which almost seems surreal considering the value and motorsport history of the car! Special thanks to Elite Detailer in Knightsbridge for the heads up and ride in the car!

This time I have filmed the incredible Mclaren F1 GTR Longtail, worth around 20 million dollars! It has a BMW 70/2 60 Degree V12 engine that produce 900HP. With the formation of the FIA GT Championship in 1997, BMW increased its support for the F1 GTR project, with Schnitzer Motorsport running two works cars - Steve Soper finished runner-up that year to the Mercedes of Bernd Schneider.
