🎥 Village Food in Yogyakarta: 🤍 💖 SUPPORT US : 🤍 🥢 BECOME A MEMBER : 🤍 Our Patrons + Members get access to exclusive content, monthly blooper reels and private livestreams! This is our last Indonesian street food video from the series! Today, we are in Yogyakarta or Jogja for its amazing street food. This city is packed with unique dishes of its own cuisine so join us for an insane street food tour of Jogja! We start the day at a famous street food stall that was recently featured in Netflix Street Food: Lupis Mbah Satinem. This lupis (Rp. 10.000 / USD $0.63 each) consists of compressed rice cakes, shredded coconut and Javanese palm sugar. WOW! It was a perfect Jogja breakfast! Her stall is extremely famous and is only open from 6am - 8am so make sure that you start queuing early! Next, we head to a stall serving another quintessential Jogja dish: Gudeg. Gudeg is made of jackfruit that has been stewed in Javanese palm sugar, gelatinous sambal and coconut milk served onto a bed of rice with some side dishes (Rp. 20.000 / USD $1.27 per plate). The atmosphere was perfect! We drove across the city to a local restaurant serving Mangut Lele, which is grilled catfish with chilies. The setting was rural and we were able to watch all of the catfish being smoked with coconut husks. We also went into the kitchen to see the smoked catfish be stewed in a broth of super spicy chilies. You can choose different side dishes to have with the magnet lele. The catfish (Rp. 30.000 / USD $1.90 per plate) was delicious, smokey and spicy. Later in the day we head to a shop serving Javanese noodle, Bakmi Jawa. We ordered two of their most popular dishes - Bakmi Goreng (dry) and Bakmi Godog (soup). What makes Javanese noodles special is that everything is cooked over charcoal, giving it a smokey aroma. Ingredients like noodles, chicken and duck eggs are cooked together and made fresh to order (Rp. 20.000 / USD $1.27 per plate). Next, we head to a street food stall serving a Javanese drink - Wedang Ronde. Served by an aunty who is 85+ years old, this drink is for keeping warm in the winter. The drink is only served after 7:30pm until about 2am. The ronde consists of hot ginger water, glutinous rice flour with crushed peanuts, kolang-kalin (Palmyra seeds) and some peanuts (Rp. 6000 / USD $0.38 each). Be patient and kind to the aunty, she works very hard! To finish our street food tour in Yogyakarta, we wanted to try one last drink - Kopi Jos which is coffee with a chunk of hot charcoal. It is an interesting process to watch. The charcoal is said to remove the bitterness from the coffee. The cafe was packed with locals late at night, and also serve lots of different kinds of sate if you’re still hungry! (Rp. 5000 / USD $0.32 per cup). 1 - Lupis Mbah Satinem Jl. Bumijo No.52-40, Bumijo, Kec. Jetis 2 - Gudeg Mbah Lindu Sosrowijayan St No.30, Sosromenduran, Gedong Tengen 3 - Mangut Lele Mbah Marto Jl. Sewon Indah, Ngireng-ireng, Panggungharjo, Kec. Bali is an Indonesian street food lovers paradise! SUBSCRIBE for 2 new videos per week► 🤍 T-shirts► 🤍 Special thank you to Made for driving us around! Bali is an amazing place to eat - there are so many incredible dishes, and the unique Balinese culture paired with the food is what makes it so special. In this Indonesian street food tour of Bali, I’m taking you to 6 street food stalls / restaurants in a row, for serious food lovers! Warung Nasi Bali Men Weti - Some consider this legendary stall, right along the ocean to be the best Balinese local street food spot in Denpasar, Bali, and after eating it, there’s absolutely no room for argument. The plate of food you’ll be served is nothing short of spectacular, full of Balinese flavor. Price - 25,000 IDR ($1.83) per plate Warung Mak Beng - Known for their fried fish set, Warung Mak Beng is another legendary Balinese restaurant. Their fish was amazing, both the fish head soup and the fried fish, and not forgetting their amazing sambal. Another must eat when you’re in Bali. Price - 45,000 IDR ($3.29) per set Sate Plecing Arjuna - This is a place you come to eat sate plecing, a type of Indonesian street food sate that’s covered in a shrimp paste chili sambal. They were incredibly delicious as well, especially the samel. Total price - 68,000 IDR ($4.98) Sate Babi Bawah Pohon - In Bali, pork is very common, and this is probably one of the most well known Indonesian street food stalls in all of Bali. For me the pork sate was a little on the sweet side, however it was still pretty tasty. Price - 25,000 IDR ($1.83) Babi Guling Pak Dobiel - When it comes to Balinese food, there’s nothing more famous to try than babi guling, Balinese style roast pig served with all the side dishes. It’s spectacular combination and you’ll find dozens of restaurants serving babi guling. In this Balinese food tour I went to Babi Guling Pak Dobiel, and it’s the best plate of babi guling I had in Bali. Total price - 100,000 IDR ($7.32) for 2 Warung Kintamani - Ubud - Finally, to finish off this Balinese food tour, we headed back to Ubud and Made, took me to eat mujair nyatnyat, tilapia in a curry sauce. It was awesome delicious, a perfect way to end this Indonesian street food tour of Bali. What Can Authentic Indonesian Food Actually Be, Besides Penyet & Padang

Full Story: 🤍 Bara Food wants to serve Indonesian food the right way. That means reintroducing much more variety of the cuisine to diners. Traditional and soulful flavours amidst the sea of Penyets and Padang options. That was the dream that started Surya's journey. He started from ground up with his aim to achieve the most authentic Indonesian flavours. As he worked hard to perfect his skills, he also took time to exchange ideas with chefs from all over Indonesia. The purpose was to design a menu that will best represent the different regions of Indonesia. This resulted in what we can see on the menu today. The Balinese style grilled chicken to Javanese style fried chicken and more. Diners get to taste flavours that not only excite the palate but stay true to the roots of Indonesian cuisines as well. And this is truly evident in their signature dish called Ayam Bakar Betutu. It is a Balinese style grilled chicken served with a unique earthy Sambal Matah, a mixture of raw spices in special chilli oil.  Another unique character of Bara is the way they handle and cook rice. It is also what makes their food authentically Indonesian. Their signature grilled rice is infused with the perfect blend of herbs and spices, wrapped in a banana leaf. It is then grilled over a fire to perfection before it is served hot. Like their signature Ayam Bakar Betutu, the road to the creation of an authentic Indonesian restaurant has demanded the utmost patience from Surya. It has been a long, hard-fought journey that reflected his focus and love for food creation. This journey, though challenging, has been rewarding. For those longing for that taste of authentic Indonesian food in Singapore, we encourage you to allow Bara Food to take you along that journey of patience and authenticity and share this beautiful dream with them. 📍 16 Enggor Street, #01-10 Icon Village Extension, Singapore 079717 🔗 Website: 🤍 Facebook Page: 🤍 More Details: 🤍 = Connect with FoodinLocal: 🌄 Instagram: 🤍 📌 Subscribe to our Youtube channel: 🤍 💻 Website: 🤍 🤍foodinLocal.com is an open and collaborative food-loving community platform that aims to connect and promote local food culture. ►Check out my list of 50 incredible Indonesian foods: 🤍 ►Ken's channel: 🤍 During my trip to Jakarta, I mostly remained in the city. But Ken and Gratiana from 🤍 invited my wife Ying and I to go with them and their family on an Indonesian food trip to Bogor and the surrounding region (about an hour from Jakarta). Our first stop when we drove out of Jakarta and to Bogor was a famous place to eat Bogor style laksa at a restaurant called Laksa Bogor Pak Inin. It was exactly my kind of a restaurant, open air and local, with a wonderful friendly environment. The laksa was unlike any other laksa I’ve ever had, and it was fantastic. Laksa Bogor - 10,000 IDR ($0.72) Next, we stopped at a place called Toge Goreng Pak Abung, which is another legendary Indonesian food stop in Bogor, Indonesia, and they are famous for serving a bean sprout snack. It was definitely a very interesting dish, including a mixture of bean sprouts and fermented soy beans. Toge Goreng - 7,000 IDR ($0.51) Next we drove into the beautiful Indonesian countryside and to the house. After having some Indonesian snacks and refreshing coconut, we then took a hike to go look for honey. The beekeeper was sick on the day we went, so we we’re able to get any honey, but it was still a beautiful hike. The highlight of this Indonesian food trip for me was the Sundanese style Nasi Liwet Botram family feast that we had. All the food was laid out on banana leaves, and we all sat and ate some of the most beautiful and flavorful Indonesian food. It was an incredible culinary experience. We drove back to Bogor and stopped at Warung Nasi Ampera to eat a quick dinner, and because I wanted to try some ikan pepes. The food was alright, but nothing compared to the lunch feast we had eaten! Total price - 103,000 IDR ($7.46) for 3 plates of food Finally, back in Jakarta, we stopped near Manga Besar to have some desserts and to finish of this incredible day of Indonesian food. Sekoteng - 12,000 IDR ($0.87), Wedang Ronde - 12,000 IDR ($0.87) It was an incredible Indonesian food trip to the outskirts of Bogor, and a nice opportunity to get out of Jakarta for the day. A big thank you to Ken, Gratiana, and her family for inviting us to their house country house and for the amazing food. Indo Java, an Indonesian market in the Elmhurst neighborhood of Queens, seems like an unassuming shop to passersby. But the smells coming from the tiny makeshift kitchen lure people inside to taste the flavors of Indonesian cuisine. Elvi and Viviane, both immigrants from Indonesia, run the convenience store-turned-restaurant. Elvi manages the market and Viviane does the cooking for Warung Kamis, a pop up at Indo Java that happens every Thursday. Their tiny storefront becomes a community hangout because of Viviane's cooking, like her beef curry, stir-fried squid, sauteed chayote, and fragrant anchovy rice. Viviane often uses imported Indonesian ingredients from the shop for her cooking. Indo Java has become a destination for other Indonesian immigrants and any food lover in NYC to gather, feast, and feel like home. Today we're making Rica-Rica Chicken, or Ayam Rica Rica, spicy Indonesian braised chicken. Besides having a super fun name, this fragrant dish is easy to make, and my recipe is not the spiciest out there - great for spice beginners. Adjust red chillies and Thai Bird's Eye Chillies according to spice tolerance. Spice lovers can go for a 10:10 ratio. Spoiler: The ingredient to help with the spice is a tomato. Typically it is not used, so for those with higher spice tolerance, feel free to skip this ingredient. Marinating the chicken and pan-frying it is an optional step. Most days I skip, and add not-marinated, not-panfried, chicken after sauteing the base paste. Still yummy. 00:25 - Blending the Base Paste 01:45 - How to Bruise Lemongrass 02:17 - Marinating and Searing Chicken 03:25 - Let's Cook Serves 2-3 Ingredients: - 500g Chicken, bone in and skin on - Marinated with (optional step): - 1 tsp Salt - 1 tsp Turmeric Powder - 2 Lemongrass Stalks - 4-5 Kaffir Lime Leaves - 1 Tomato - 1 tbsp Palm Sugar or Brown Sugar - 1 tsp Salt - Juice from 1 Lime Base Paste, to blend or grind: - 8 stalks Red Chillies (alternatives: Fresno or Serrano chillies) - 5 Thai Bird's Eye Chillies (SPICYYY! adjust according to spice tolerance) - 2 medium-sized Onions or 8 Shallots - 4 cloves of Garlic - 1 inch Ginger - 1/2 cup of Water Connect with me: 🤍nomadette.com instagram.com/NomadettEats Southeast Asian Pantry Guide: nomadette.com/pantry

Puri Banyuning, Bongkasa, Bali - Andre is part of a Balinese Royal family, and he invited us over to their family palace grounds. I was immediately blown away by the palace grounds, the beauty of the architecture and the lush greenery of Bali. After walking around for a while, and getting dressed in a local Balinese sarong, it was time to get started. The chef at the Palace is an insane cook, and cooks so fast and so expertly, it’s amazing to watch him. We started cooking an Indonesian food Balinese feast including some of the best Balinese dishes like sate lilit, tum ayam Balin, lawar, ares soup, and be lindung. Also part of the Royal Balinese food experience was how the food was displayed and decorated - it was nothing short of incredible to see and to eat! Nasi Padang - AMAZING Indonesian Food - Beef Rendang and Gulai Otak!

►Read more about this Nasi Padang restaurant here: 🤍 I can still remember my first time to ever eat Nasi Padang, when I visited the island of Sumatra back in 2009. I had a plate of rice, piled high with a variety of different curry dishes and chili filled dishes. The combination of flavors and the variety of dishes on my plate just astounded me, and my taste buds rejoiced. Until now, Nasi Padang has always remained one of my favorite Indonesian food meals to eat. And along with being very common throughout Sumatra, in Jakarta, Padang food is perhaps one of the most beloved meals as well, and you’ll find hundreds of Nasi Padang restaurants in the city. There are two ways to eat Nasi Padang. If you go to a street food stall they normally served it in the pesan way, where you get a plate of rice, and designate which curries and dishes you’d like to eat, and they are all placed on top of your rice - so you’ve got a one plate meal. And this is the way that I’d normally always eating Nasi Padang. But when you go to a nicer sit down restaurant, still very local, they often serve it in the hidang method, where as soon as you sit down, you’re given a variety of all the different dishes they have prepared, and they set them all in front of you on your table. You don’t need to eat everything they give you, but you pay for what you eat, and don’t pay for what you don’t eat. It’s truly a magical way to have a meal, to see all the different dishes and varieties of ingredients all laid before you. The toughest part is trying to decide what to eat. When I was in Jakarta, thanks to the help of Renis, who invited Ying and I to come to her favorite Nasi Padang Indonesian food restaurant in Jakarta, we ate at Rumah Makan Surya Masakan Padang. What I liked about this restaurant, as opposed to others I ate in Jakarta, is that it seemed not so much like a chain, but it had more character to it. The restaurant is known for its makan Padang, Padang food, and as soon as we arrived, I could smell the aroma of the incredible dishes. The beef rendang is a famous Indonesian food that’s commonly served at Nasi Padang restaurants, and it’s a dish you don’t want to miss. The combination of chilies and herbs, mixed with desiccated coconut, and caked onto each piece of meat, makes it incredible. Beef rendang is one of the greatest Indonesian dishes. Additionally, another common Indonesian Padang food that you’ll find is gulai otak, which is brain curry, usually made with cow brains. The cow brains are incredibly creamy and soft, and then it was within a very creamy coconut milk based curry. I’m also a huge fan of the different types of fresh chilies and sambals that you each along with your rice and curry when you eat Nasi Padang. Rumah Makan Surya Masakan Padang is an amazing restaurant in Jakarta, and I fully loved it. Rumah Makan Surya Masakan Padang Address: Jalan Bendungan Hilir Raya No.15, Bendungan Hilir, Jakarta Open hours: 9 am - 8 pm daily Total price - 165,000 IDR ($12.52) ►Nasi Padang Surya: 🤍 MY WEBSITES: Migrationology.com: 🤍 EatingThaiFood.com: 🤍 TravelByYing.com: 🤍 T-shirts & Food Guides: 🤍 Resources: 🤍 SOCIAL MEDIA: Snapchat: 🤍migrationology Instagram: 🤍 Facebook: 🤍 ►Jakarta Travel Guide for Food Lovers: 🤍

She also shows us a mouth-watering dish called the “Undecided Combo” which has everything including fried rice, stir-fried noodles, lumpia, chicken satay, and salad. You can find Bumbu Truck in Seattle and Bellevue and follow them on Facebook, Instagram, and their website. - KING 5's New Day Northwest is Western Washington's only local daytime talk show. ►Check out 50 of the Best Indonesian Dishes: 🤍 Glodok is the Chinatown of Jakarta, and my wife and I decided to spend the day walking around Glodok and exploring some Indonesian street food throughout the day. At the end of the day, we also stopped by Fatahillah Square, with is an old Dutch square in colonial Jakarta, where you'll find some interesting buildings and some street food snacks as well. Since we were staying at a hotel (here’s information on the hotel I stayed at:🤍 not too far from Glodok, we decided to beat the traffic and just walk over there. It didn’t take more than 15 minutes to walk, and soon we arrived in Jakarta’s Chinatown. Glodok is a very interesting area to walk around and explore. There are fresh markets and plenty of restaurants and food to choose from. The Indonesian street food I tried on this tour was siomay, an Indonesian Chinese dish. From the back of a motorbike, I chose a few of the siomay dumplings he had steaming, and the cut them up and added some peanut sauce to the plate. The texture was a little mushy, but they were alright. Right opposite the siomay, the owner of an Indonesian vegetarian restaurant greeted me and asked if I might like to eat some of his vegetarian food. His vegetarian rendang was particularly good. One of the most famous places to go in Glodok is Kopi Es Tak Kie, a legendary coffee shop. After wandering around a while we found it. I had a cup of coffee and also a plate of nasi campur from outside the shop. We continued on our Indonesian street food tour throughout Glodok and I tried a sweet snack called kue ape, which is a green colored little pancake. Next, I had a variety of deep fried snacks including fried bananas, and fried breadfruit. They are definitely pretty greasy, but interesting to sample, and they are very popular street food snacks in Indonesia. It probably wasn’t the greatest idea to walk, but we decided to walk over to Fatahillah Square. The traffic was pretty intense, but we made it. And along with checking out the old colonial buildings one of my main goals was to try kerak telor, which is a traditional Indonesian Betawi street food snack. Luckily I found it and it turned out to be a very interesting and amazing snack to watch being made! Here’s the list of the things we ate and the prices: Siomay - 15,000 IDR ($1.11) Vegetarian food - 20,000 IDR ($1.48) Kopi Es Tak Kie - 10,000 IDR ($0.73) Nasi campur - 35,000 IDR ($2.58) Kue ape - 1,000 IDR ($0.07) each Fried snacks - 12,000 ($0.88) Kerak telor - 20,000 IDR ($1.48) - Possibly overcharged? Do you think? Hope you enjoyed the Indonesian street food tour of Glodok and Fatahillah Square, I sure enjoyed eating it!
