Its job is to ensure the safe delivery of data across public networks. By doing this, it allows users to send data as if they were connected directly to the private network. Private WAN technology is available however they come at a price. Internet VPNs however only require a very affordable internet connection. A VPN is often described as a tunnel. Your data is encrypted before it passes through the public internet. This way, if one of the bad guys does get their hands on your data, they can't make any sense of it. Once your data is received, it is then decrypted using a special key so it can be read. There are two main types of VPN. A site-to-site VPN connects two or more sites together. It needs to be configured on both networks, so it's ideal in situations when you have multiple remote sites. But you may also have individual users that work from home, coffee shops or anywhere else in the world. These users still require access to the corporate network, but a site-to-site VPN won't work because you have no control over the networks they are connecting from. Instead, they can use a remote access VPN. A remote-access VPN grants access to the corporate network but only for one device, for example, a users laptop in a coffee shop. This is unlike the site-to-site VPNs which connects two entire networks. When configuring remote access VPNs, you need to decide if you want to use a 'full tunnel' or a 'split tunnel'. A full tunnel means that once connected to the VPN, all network traffic from this host will be forwarded to the corporate network. A split tunnel means only traffic destined for the corporate office is sent over the VPN. All other traffic is routed as normal. IPSec is a framework or set of rules for creating VPNs over a network. It does not define one way to create a VPN, but rather allows several protocols to be used for each VPN feature. IPSec is often used for site-to-site VPNs but it can also be used for remote access. #ccna #cisco #networking

VPN is a service that allows you to connect to the internet privately. You can use a VPN from any computer or mobile device. There are several VPNs out there including free and paid options. Why use a VPN? VPN will mask your IP. Every device connected to the internet has an IP address. VPN will mask it. VPN will encrypt your data, making it more secure. It also lets you tell the internet that you are in a different location, just about anywhere in the world. Commercial VPNs probably hurt your privacy and security more than they help. Behind the layers of marketing sits a darker side of the industry. Ask yourself questions like: - Why trust a VPN company and their ISP over my own? - Who’s actually running these companies? - Why so many VPN ads on YouTube? - What’s up with all the review sites? VPNs are designed to transport devices from a network of low trust to high trust. Or bridge traffic between high and high trust. A site-to-site or corporate VPN both fall in this category. With commercial VPNs, you’re more likely to be transporting your Internet to a network of lower or uncertain trust. Rather than just your ISP seeing your traffic, you grant this privilege to the VPN provider and their ISP too. Most of the providers out there are owned by just a few parent companies. Many of them have hidden ownership and conflicting motivations. Many “no-logging” VPN companies have turned out to be doing the opposite. You shouldn’t use a VPN if: - You want to encrypt your traffic. Most of your traffic is already encrypted because most common sites support HTTPS. Encrypting your DNS queries is becoming standard too in web browsers. - You want to hide your identity. There’s all kinds of other metadata in your network packets available to track you. Advanced actors can correlate them to track and discover your location. There are some cases where using a VPN does make sense though. - You want to mask your IP address. - Circumventing IP blocks to watch Netflix - Getting around national firewalls - Bypassing download limits - Performing offensive security assessments - Conducting OSINT and research If you do need a VPN, the best option is to do-it-yourself. Tunnel back to a home server. Set up a cloud server. Open-source software like Wireguard, Shadowsocks, and SSH makes this easy. 🧨 If you answered the question of why use a VPN, grab one with a special deal 🧨 ✅ Grab a NordVPN deal ➡️ 🤍 ✅ Grab a Surfshark deal ➡️ 🤍 You might find yourself asking “what is a VPN and why do I need one?”. Well let me get VPN explained to you, why use a VPN, how to use vpn & do you really need VPN? 🔎 Controversies 🔎 At the very basic level, it’s a tool to protect your online privacy. And that’s not a crime. Of course, doing illegal stuff with a VPN is, well – still illegal. Now, VPN marketing is a whole other beast. Way too often, it targets people’s paranoia and VPNs suddenly become the sole solution to every problem out there. That’s not really the truth, is it? There’s no need to over-exaggerate what a VPN can do, there are plenty of normal reasons to justify why you might want to use it. 🔦 VPN encryption 🔦 The very first use case, is, of course - online safety. And it comes down to how VPN works. Whenever I connect to a VPN server, I get a whole new IP address. But the main thing here is encryption. If somebody intercepts my VPN-protected connection, they’ll see a hotchpotch of letters, symbols, and numbers. This helps to avoid tracking from your ISP, government, or just invasive ad companies. 🗻 NordVPN - most secure VPN of 2022 ➡️ 🤍 🌎 Using public Wi-Fi 🌎 Is public wifi safe? Sorry to break it to you, but not even close, it’s super vulnerable. I know the dangers, but that doesn’t mean I want to stay locked to my home wifi forever. If I wanna work from a cafe, I’ll go and do that. But each time, I make sure to connect to a VPN and stay protected. 🗺️ Bypassing restrictions 🗺️ A VPN lets me connect to a remote network, and gives me access to things I otherwise couldn’t possibly get a hold of. Your workplace might require such a step or even your school - it’s way safer to region-lock servers containing sensitive data. 🎥 Streaming with a VPN 🎥 BBC, Netflix, Hulu… yada yada - too many streaming services are guilty of restricting their content to specific locations. Since a VPN can change my virtual location… one thing leads to another and suddenly, I’m a usual guest over at Netflix Japan. - 🦈 Surfshark - one of the best VPNs for streaming ➡️ 🤍 - 💥 Other VPN use cases 💥 🔑 Bypassing censorship 🔐 Unblocking sites at school or work 🔧 Blocking advertisements - Final thoughts ➡️ I hope I got the VPN explained properly and answered the question, "Should you use a VPN at home?” What do you use it for and do you need a VPN at all - that’s up to you. What is a VPN? A VPN is a means to encrypt, or secure, your data to keep it safe and add a layer of privacy to protect your identity. Before we dive into what it is, exactly, let's look at why you might need one and how it works. *Why a VPN?* It seems like almost every week there’s a front-page news story about somebody’s email getting hacked, identities stolen or privacy exploited. Get used to it: this is our new reality. It’s more important for us to secure our computers nowadays than it is for us to lock our front doors. If you’ve known anybody who has had their identity stolen, you know that it’s not a simple wipe and replace. It takes years, sometimes more than a decade to recover from an identity theft. So, what can you do to protect yourself? There are a number of measures you can take, but one of the easiest things you can do today is start using a VPN. It’s not foolproof and despite the marketing, I don’t believe we’re ever completely anonymous or totally safe on the internet, but it is the best step you can take to secure yourself online. *How a VPN Works* Without going into too much boring detail, here’s one way you can visualize a VPN. Imagine that you're on your computer and the cloud is the internet. Normally, your computer accesses the internet directly to the cloud ("internet") via your internet service provider. While this connection may be fast, it’s rarely secured and it’s very easily traced back to you. When you access the internet via a VPN, imagine that your connection is routed through the internet via a secure tunnel through the cloud to a server in another location – sometimes in a different city, sometimes in a different country. At this point, the server accesses the internet on your behalf. The benefit here is that not only are you keeping your data safe, you’re also masking your location by making the internet think that you’re located where the server is, not your actual home or office. Initially, VPNs were developed for corporations that needed to protect their sensitive data being sent over public and private networks, but ever since Wikileaks became a household name, the personal VPN market has rightly grown by leaps and bounds. *How to Use a VPN?* Now, in the real world, what does it look like to use a VPN? With a VPN, you can jump on the internet at your favorite coffee shop and be confident that all the passwords you’re typing or the websites you’re visiting can’t be intercepted by a hacker sipping a latte in the corner. A VPN can also spoof, or trick the internet into thinking you’re in a different location. *Any Reasons to NOT Use a VPN?* Great question! There are a few reasons why many people don't use VPNs. #1 Most people don’t realize that something as simple as using a public Wi-Fi network outside their home puts your security at serious risk. I’m not being an alarmist here. It’s scary easy to snoop on computers over a public Wi-Fi network. #2 Some people don’t like using a VPN because it naturally slows down your internet speeds. When you begin encrypting and rerouting your internet traffic, there’s just no way to get around a loss in speed. #3 Personal VPNs cost money. Sure, there are free VPNs out there but as they say, nothing is really “free”. These free VPNs, they either display tons of ads or sell your information, which is exactly the opposite purpose of using a VPN! The paid services aren’t crazy expensive, but for some reason it’s been a deterrent for people. #vpn #cybersecurity #privacy

Your computer, here's your IP address with your computer, you are routed through the VPN server, which will give you a new IP address and then through the internet. Now typically, instead of the VPN server, you will just go through your ISP or internet service provider, and you'll be using your own IP address to reach the internet. Whereas with a VPN, you'll be using the VPN server's IP address which will also give you access to the services available and the server that you are connected to. So since I'm connected to the friend server now, in my IP checker here, you can use any IP checker, I use what is my IP dash address.com, it shows that I am in fact located in France, even though I'm not I'm only connected to the ExpressVPN friends server, which will also give me access to for example, Netflix, France and any other French service that may be exclusive to France, okay, and it's very simple. Again, you want to connect to let's just use Nord VPN, for example, I want to connect to the United States this time, just zoom in here and click for example, in New York, again, the closer the server the better the connection. So somewhere in the European region, instead of connecting to LA, I'll connect to New York because it's closer so that I can get faster speeds. And just refresh and we should be good to go. It really is as simple as that. That's how a VPN works. You use the VPN server's IP address rather than your own IP address. So you're going through the secured and encrypted VPN tunnel, which will keep your IP address away from your ISP or government authorities, for example, if you're in a censorship heavy country or restrictive country, so that is basically how a VPN works. Typically, people use VPN to access services that may not be available to them otherwise. And of course, if you just want to secure your connection on public Wi Fi, you should never ever connect to a public Wi Fi without using a VPN. Otherwise, you'll be risking your data, especially if you have financial or sensitive data on your device. Always use a VPN especially if you're on public Wi Fi. For me personally, that's what I use my VPN for. If I'm on public Wi Fi, definitely use a VPN. And if I am trying to let's say access Netflix, US I could also use a VPN. That's why I have these three VPNs recommended here, they work perfectly well no matter what you're trying to do by using a VPN so that's why they're my top three recommended VPNs so that's pretty much it for this video. Again, if you guys are interested in any of these VPNs you'll find links to pricing and discounts in the description down below as well as full reviews if you'd like to learn more about these VPNs and keep in mind all these VPNs are covered by a 30 day money back guarantee as well as 24/7 live chat support so you can try out these VPNs for 30 days at least risk free so that's pretty much it for this video, comment below if you have any questions. This video steps through the architecture of IPSEC VPNs. IPsec VPN negotiation occurs in two phases. In Phase 1, participants establish a secure channel in which to negotiate the IPsec security association (SA). In Phase 2, participants negotiate the IPsec SA for authenticating traffic that will flow through the tunnel. ▶ Check out Adrian's full range of content at 🤍 ▶ Join the best online technical study community 🤍 FOLLOW ME 😺 ▶ Twitter: 🤍 ▶ YouTube: 🤍 OTHER VIDEOS AND PLAYLISTS 🎞 ▶ Network Fundamentals 🤍 ▶ Technical Fundamentals 🤍 ▶ AWS Fundamentals 🤍 ▶ Course Intros 🤍 ▶ Exam Question Practice 🤍 ▶ MINI PROJECT - Hybrid DNS 🤍 ▶ MINI PROJECT - Advanced VPN 🤍 ▶ MINI PROJECT - Pet Cuddle O Tron 🤍 ▶ MINI PROJECT - Web Identity Federation 🤍 ▶ MINI PROJECT - Architecture Evolution 🤍 ▶ MINI PROJECT - Cat Pipeline 🤍 ▶ Best Videos 🤍 All rights reserved © 2022 Adrian Cantrill

VPN stands for"Virtual Private Network"and describes the occasion to establish a fended network connection when using public networks. VPNs jumble your internet commerce and disguise your online identity. This makes it more nasty for third parties to track your exercise online and steal data. The encryption takes place in real time. What are the benefits of a VPN connection? A VPN connection disguises your data commerce online and protects it from external access. Unencrypted data can be viewed by anyone who has network access and wants to see it. With a VPN, hackers and cyber lawbreakers ca n’t crack this data. 1. Secure encryption To read the data, you need an encryption key. Without one, it would take millions of spans for a computer to decode the decalogue in the event of a brute force attack. With the help of a VPN, your online conditioning are hidden yea on public networks. 2. Disguising your whereabouts VPN servers constitutionally act as your agents on the internet. Because the demographic emplacement data comes from a server in another country, your concrete emplacement can not be determined. In addition, consummate VPN services don't store logs of your conditioning. Some providers, on the other hand, record your actions, but don't pass this information on to third parties. This means that any implicit record of your addict actions remains permanently cloistered. 3. Access to local content Regional web content isn't always accessible from throughout. Services and websites hourly contain content that can only be entered from certain belt of the world. Standard connections use regional garçons in the country to determine your emplacement. This means that you can not enter content at home while traveling, and you can not enter foreign content from home. With VPN emplacement spoofing, you can switch to a server to another country and effectively “ change” your emplacement. 4. Secure data transfer If you work somehow, you may need to enter important columns on your company’s network. For security reasons, this kind of information requires a secure connection. To gain access to the network, a VPN connection is hourly bore. VPN services connect to private server and use encryption methodologies to reduce the imminence of data leakage. How does a VPN work? A VPN hides your IP address by letting the network swing it through a specially configured remote waiter run by a VPN host. This means that if you head online with a VPN, the VPN waiter becomes the source of your data. This means your Internet Service Provider (ISP) and other third parties can not see which websites you visit or what data you pack and enter online. A VPN works like a defilement that turns all your data into" gibberish". Yea if someone were to get their hands on your data, it would be useless. What should a good VPN do? You should calculate on your VPN to perform one or additional tasks. The VPN itself should also be defended against accommodation. These are the features you should anticipate from a comprehensive VPN answer 1. Encryption of your IP address The primary job of a VPN is to hide your IP address from your ISP and other third parties. This allows you to dispatch and admit information online without the hazard of anyone but you and the VPN provider seeing it. 2. Encryption of protocols A VPN should also forestall you from leaving traces, for illustration, in the form of your internet history, hunt history and foxes. The encryption of foxes is especially important because it prevents third parties from gaining access to hushed information connate as patented data, fiscal information and other content on websites. 3. Kill switch If your VPN connection is suddenly interrupted, your secure connection will also be interrupted. A good VPN can determine this unanticipated time-out and terminate preselected programs, reducing the liability that data is compromised. 4. Two- factor authentication By using a variety of authentication manners, a strong VPN checks everyone who tries to log in. For illustration, you might be exhorted to enter a watchword, after which a constitution is packed to your mobile device. This makes it nasty for unbidden third parties to penetrate your secure connection. Learn what is VPN (Virtual Private network ) in a simple 3D animated video. 🤍zeedup.com
Start learning cybersecurity with CBT Nuggets. 🤍 In this video, CBT Nuggets trainer Keith Barker takes a look at the concepts behind how IPsec site-to-site VPNs work. Keith uses a protocol analyzer to show you the before and after picture of a packet that's been encrypted and transmitted. Sending packets in the wild can be dangerous. The Big Bad Internet is just waiting for you to send sensitive or important information so it can be sniffed out and exploited. So any time you send a packet out there, it's a good idea to give it some protection. IPSec lets you do that Imagine a company with two geographically separated offices. They want full data networking between the two sites. All the servers and resources of both should be shared fully between the two. With high-speed connectivity at both sites, the impulse might be to just send it all over the internet. But that can pose a security risk. An IPsec VPN site-to-site tunnel can provide a number of things. First, confidentiality thanks to encryption. Also, integrity – IPsec can confirm that no bits were manipulated in transit. It can even provide authentication and anti-replay support. See the benefits of IPsec VPN tunnels and what the packets themselves look like before and after transmission. 0:25: When you might need a VPN tunnel 1:00: The risk of using the Internet 1:45: What are IPsec’s claims to fame? 2:40: How does it do it? 3:55: Two perspectives of what the VPN looks like 5:10: Side-by-side comparison of the encrypted packet 6:40: Overview 🌐 Download the Free Ultimate Networking Cert Guide: 🤍 ⬇️ 13-Week Study Plan: CCNA (200-301): 🤍 Start learning with CBT Nuggets: • Intro to Networking | 🤍 • MPLS Fundamentals | 🤍
