In this episode, we recall the Top Five Biggest Goliath Groupers ever caught on BlacktipH. Number Five was an estimated 400+lb goliath grouper caught fishing with NFL Linebacker Sam Barrington. Number Four was an estimated 500+lb goliath grouper that I caught in 2014 using a handline. At the time, this was the largest goliath grouper I've ever caught. Number Three was a truly monster goliath grouper caught by my buddy Trace Frieden. This fish weighed well over 600lbs! Number Two is currently the largest goliath grouper I've ever caught on rod and reel. This fish weighed more than 600lbs! The biggest goliath grouper ever caught was with my friend Max McKinley. This fish was scary big and must have weighed between 650-700lbs! This grouper literary weighed more than the hull of the boat we caught it on. ▼ BlacktipH Products: 🤍 ▼ To learn more about the species of fish caught in this video, click the links below: • Goliath Grouper → 🤍 ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ABOUT BLACKTIPH ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ BlacktipH Fishing brings you some of the most exciting fishing videos on the web. Caught a Monster Grouper that Weighed MORE than the BOAT

Max and I left the dock with one fishing mission, catch and release a Goliath Grouper that weighed more than his boat! The total weight of the boat hull is 550lbs, so we needed to find one of the largest Goliath Groupers in all of Florida to break this number. We started the day off fishing for bonito (false albacore). Within minutes, my reel started screaming and fish on! It turned out to be a huge snook! A monster Goliath Grouper tried to eat the snook while I was bringing it in. After releasing the snook, Max and I decided to try and catch the monster Goliath Grouper that tried to eat my snook. I used a live bonito for bait and then all of sudden there he was, the largest Goliath Grouper that I've ever seen! He ate the bait and immediately started towing the boat! We estimated the weight of this Goliath grouper between 600-700lbs. ▼ BlacktipH Products: 🤍 ▼ Book a fishing adventure with Maxed Out Fishing Charters: 🤍 ▼ Check out the new BlacktipH Merch 🤍 ▼ To learn more about the species of fish caught in this video, click the links below: • Goliath Grouper → 🤍 • Snook → 🤍 ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ABOUT BLACKTIPH ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ BlacktipH Fishing brings you some of the most exciting fishing videos on the web. You may want to stay on the boat. This part of the ocean doesn't belong to you. It belongs to this beast, the Atlantic goliath grouper. And if you wander too close to those shadows, you may not come back out. So what would happen if this giant devoured you? What part of you would the fish eat first? Could you outswim this predator? Or would you have to escape out its other end? How can this fish send out a shockwave? How powerful is the sonic blast? Transcript and sources: 🤍 Questions or concerns? Grouper - Sleep

Violet Replacement (2012) 1. Rolling Gate 2. Sleep Pitchfork's Mark Richardson discussed the signifiers that run throughout Liz Harris' work as Grouper in his review of her twin 2011 albums, Dream Loss and Alien Observer. He pointed to the floaty, celestial presence of her vocals, that ghost in and out of her music but never quite settle in place. On Violet Replacement, a two-track CD-R released by Harris to support a Grouper tour of the same name, she's boxed her vocal work into a corner, with only light fragments of her voice occasionally hovering above the semidarkness. Instead, she leans hard on an array of tape loops, Wurlitzer loops, and field recordings, all mixed live through a series of dictaphones and tape players. Violet Replacement provides a large sweep of space for Harris to stretch out in, to see how far out she can push her central aesthetic before the brittle harmony she amasses gradually cracks and blisters into a form of disunity. The two tracks here, "Rolling Gate" and "Sleep", fall just a couple of minutes shy of the hour-and-a-half mark. At times it feels like Harris is delicately stacking up a house of cards, with each element gently added on top of the other with great care and precision. As such, it closely aligns this work with her other output under this name, where it feels like every detail has been agonized over, only slotting into Grouper world after undergoing a great process of attrition. On this release, everything just happens at a more lethargic pace than usual. It's like waiting around for a star to burn out, or watching an entire film reveal itself in slow motion. The surprisingly agitated crescendo each track reaches is analogous to the work of artist Jonathan Schipper, who recently wreaked slo-mo havoc upon a car by having it crash into a wall at 7mm per hour over a month-long period. Schipper says his piece displays "a dramatic inevitability that reflects our own mortality," and Violet Replacement lands in a similar place. When Harris allows the world she so painstakingly built up to ignite and burn apart in front of our eyes, it makes it easy to get lost in feelings of self-doubt, destruction, fatality. That power of suggestion Harris possesses is her biggest strength, whether she's working over 52-minute pieces such as "Sleep" or through the more refined songs on her 2008 album Dragging a Dead Deer Up a Hill. There's nothing overtly defined; instead, Harris offers a series of nebulous textures, sometimes heavily layered, at other times bearing a few faint traces of sound. From there it's like being immersed in a dense bank of fog rolling in off the coastline, where only you can make sense of the world that's been temporarily thrown up around you. Much of the suggestion presented in Violet Replacement comes from Harris's supreme patience as a player. She's got an intuitive grasp on how to let her loops buckle and coil, phasing elements in and out with a keen eye for pacing and execution. These tracks are long, but never meandering. It always feels like there's a place they're heading, a loose destination in mind. At times it's reminiscent of Popol Vuh's "Affenstunde", where repetitive elements are strung out over a boundless timeline, and key shifts are made to gently prod the listener out of any one particular headspace. Violet Replacement may not be a space to return to often, mainly due to the sheer scale of the project. But it's a logical stretch for Harris, a place akin to the contrasting mix of sharp focus and heady improvisation that marked the production of Terrence Malick's outstanding Days of Heaven. How to Clean and Cook a 300lb Grouper

In this episode of BlacktipH, we show you how to clean and cook a massive 300-pound Warsaw Grouper! My good friend Capt. Jason Boyll is one of the best in the world at cleaning Warsaw Groupers. We wrapped a giant rope through the mouth of the grouper and tied the other end of the rope to a tractor. We had to use the tractor in order to lift the fish out of the boat. This fish was so heavy, Jason had to fillet the fish while it was hanging. Each fillet weighed over 70 pounds! The meat was so white and flaky! After a half-hour cleaning this massive fish, we placed both fillets in the cooler and brought them home. Jason showed us his secret Warsaw recipe, and it was incredible! He used bread crumbs, pine nuts, and orzo to make this fish dish. The fish cooked in the oven for 15-minutes before Jason pulled it out of the oven. He sprinkled Romano cheese on top of the meat and left it to melt. It was some of the best deep-water grouper I've ever tasted, and we can wait to catch another one! ▼ BlacktipH Products: • Store → 🤍 • Use promo code "WARSAW" to save 10% on any purchase ▼ Catch a GIANT Warsaw Grouper with Jason Boyll: • Instagram → 🤍capt_jason_boyll_ • Website → 🤍 ▼ To learn more about the species of fish caught in this video, click the links below: • Warsaw Grouper → 🤍 ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ABOUT BLACKTIPH ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ BlacktipH Fishing brings you some of the most exciting fishing videos on the web. The Goliath Grouper is one of the largest bony fish in the world, and this made it the target of intense fishing efforts for many years. After nearly becoming extinct, the fish was afforded legal protection enacted in 1990. Twenty years later, the protection is finally starting to pay off. Jonathan joins famous National Geographic photographer David Doubilet as he visits a shipwreck in Florida where Goliath Groupers gather to spawn every year, and meets dozens of these massive animals! #underwater #scuba #scubadiving #goliathgrouper #daviddoubilet #florida If you like Jonathan Bird's Blue World, don't forget to subscribe! You can join us on Facebook! 🤍 Twitter 🤍 Instagram 🤍blueworldtv Web: 🤍 Goliath Groupers! They’re among the largest reef fish in the world. They used to be common throughout the Caribbean, but then their numbers started to plummet in the 1980s. That's because everybody wants to catch an 800-pound fish, so pretty soon the Goliath Grouper had been fished almost to extinction. In 1990, the U.S. Government had to take drastic measures to protect this fish, so they passed a law that banned all fishing of Goliath Groupers. Now, nineteen years later, they're making a remarkable comeback. The Goliath Grouper is still very rare. In fact, most divers have never even seen one. David Doubilet, the world-famous National Geographic Magazine photographer, has invited me to join him and his wife Jen Hayes (who is also his photo assistant) on a Goliath Grouper filming expedition. We board the Shearwater, a large dive boat that will be our base of operations for a week. We've arrived at the wreck of the Mizpah, which sits on the sea floor 80 feet below. The question is: are there any Goliath Groupers down there? Once we hit the bottom, Pierre and I will stay out of David and Jen’s way. Shipwrecks are magnets for fish. That's because they provide a great place for fish to hide and rest on what might otherwise be a very flat, featureless sea floor. The shipwrecks off the east coast of Florida have become some of the best places to find Goliath Groupers. But a typical shipwreck only has one or two of them hanging around. Things are different here in September. That's when the Goliath Groupers get together in large numbers to spawn. The groupers don’t like the current much either, so they hide behind the wreck the same way one might hide behind a large object to get out of the wind. But outside, they let me get really close. These Groupers are surrounded by little silvery fish called cigar minnows. The minnows might look like they are hiding out of the current, but they are really aggregating close to the groupers. Later, when the current relaxes, dozens of groupers are gathering together in the water column above the wreck. What’s going on? It’s the mating season, and these fish are preparing to spawn—probably at dusk or after sunset. Unfortunately, I’m low on air and I need to head back to the surface. Pierre and I do a safety stop on the anchor line as we eagerly anticipate the next dive. I keep looking for any kind of mating activity, but something totally unexpected catches my eye! It's a manta ray swimming among the groupers! I move in for a shot of the ray. It doesn’t seem afraid of me. And I have to believe it's no coincidence that a manta has shown up here. Mantas are filter feeders and this one is probably hoping to join the cigar minnows and feed on some grouper eggs too. The manta seems intrigued by our video lights and she keeps coming over to me. So I put my camera down and give her a little belly rub. Mantas are awesome but I need to keep my attention and my camera focused on the big groupers so I don’t miss anything. The cigar minnows are crowding in even tighter to the Groupers. You can hardly even tell there’s a big fish in the middle of all that! It's an amazing spectacle to observe. These enormous fish would make Michael Jordan feel small. And the cigar minnows are just magical to watch. We see a lot of what looks like courting, but no spawning. Maybe the groupers are more bothered by our presence than they let on. Or maybe they are waiting until dark. But as it gets later and later, we are running out of light, and air. Reluctantly, Pierre and I must head back to the surface. It looks like the spawning will happen later in the evening and I will miss it.
