If it doesn’t say it’s grass-finished, then it’s grain-finished. Organic also does not mean grass-fed or grass-finished.  Organic means: • No pesticides • No hormones • No antibiotics Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 56 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in Healthy Ketosis & Intermittent Fasting. We test out a Costco Grain Finished Ribeye steak versus a Whole Foods Grass-fed Ribeye Steak. The ultimate carnivore diet blindfold taste test! The steaks were fresh and marinated with just grass-fed beef tallow and Redmond Real Sea Salt. We cooked them to medium-rare on the grill. Once inside we did a 3 person blindfold taste test. Two of the contestants were ancestral diet eaters and one was a bonified all meat carnivore dieter. Who could guess which steak was grass-fed and which was grain finished? Which steak tasted better? Beef Labels: Grass Fed Beef vs Grain Finished Beef

You’ve likely seen or heard beef described with terms like “grass fed”, “grass finished”, “grain finished”, “organic” and “natural”. But what do these terms and labels actually mean? All cattle (and we really do mean all) spend the majority of their lives eating grass on pasture. But beef can be “finished” in a variety of ways. This is why you see different labels on beef like “grass fed beef”, “grass finished beef”, “natural” and “grain finished beef.” Get more information on our website: 🤍clovermeadowsbeef.com GRASS FED BEEF: This may surprise you, but the USDA doesn’t have an official definition for grass fed. In 2016, the Agricultural Marketing Service, a branch of the USDA, announced in a statement that it was dropping its official definition of “grass fed” because it doesn’t have the authority to define and determine whether grass fed claims are truthful and misleading. When you stroll through the aisle of your grocery store and see “grass fed”, it will probably be more expensive than a package of beef without that label. Unfortunately, this marketing term doesn’t mean much. GRASS FINISHED BEEF: As mentioned above, all cattle spend the majority of their lives eating grass in the pasture. What sets cattle apart is how they’re “finished”, or what they eat at the end of their lives. Grass-finished cattle spend their entire lives grazing and eating from pastures. Per USDA guidelines, grass-finished cattle may also eat forage, hay or silage. Grass finished cattle may or may not be given FDA-approved antibiotics to treat, prevent or control disease and/or growth-promoting hormones. Grass finished beef has some great health attributes like more vitamin E, beta-carotene, vitamin C and omega-3 fatty acids compared to grain fed beef. According to some experts both grass-fed and grain-fed beef have benefits and drawbacks. Based solely on the nutrition profile, grass-fed beef is slightly better because of its higher vitamin and CLA content. It is also more protein-dense. However, the differences are only small. GRAIN FINISHED BEEF: Grain finished beef spend the majority of their lives eating grass. What makes them different from grass finished beef is that during the last 6-8 months of their lives, grain finished cattle are free to eat a balanced diet of local feed ingredients. The exact grain will differ by farm, but it’s typically things like potato hulls, corn, sugar beets, barley, sorghum or hay. The terms grain finished beef, grain fed beef and conventional beef are essentially all the same. They refer to cattle that have been raised with the beginning of their life on grass, and then given grain at the end of their lives. Get more information on our website: 🤍clovermeadowsbeef.com

New Fascinating Research on Grass-Fed Beef

CHECK OUT THEIR WEBSITE HERE: 🤍 There hasn't been much credible research on grain-fed vs. grass-fed beef—until now. Check this out! 0:00 Introduction: Grain-fed vs. grass-fed beef 0:45 Research on grass-finished vs. grain-finished beef 3:19 Findings on grain-finished vs. grass-finished beef 7:09 Key points 9:05 Check out my video on the healthiest foods you can eat! There is a fascinating research project in place right now on grain-finished vs. grass-finished beef. The project isn't done yet, but there is enough data to conclude that there is a major difference between these two types of beef. The only reason someone would grain-finish an animal is because of cost—they can make more money off of it. But what about the nutrient density of grain-finished and grass-finished beef? First off, a scientist from this research project noted that the muscle meat from a grass-finished cow mimicked a healthy athlete. However, the grain-finished muscle mimicked a person with metabolic syndrome. Grain-finished beef has: • More inflammatory markers • Higher uric acid levels • Higher homocysteine levels • Higher advanced glycated end products • Higher amounts of niacinamide (a form of vitamin B3) Grass-finished beef has: • Higher omega-3 fatty acids (DHA and EPA) • Higher amount of phytonutrients • Higher microbial diversity • Higher amounts of niacin (a form of vitamin B3) • Higher vitamin C levels • Higher vitamin E levels • Higher antitumor biomarkers • Higher choline • Higher carnosine Hands down, not only were there more nutrients in the grass-fed, grass-finished beef, there were better metabolic biomarkers—which measure the overall health of the muscle. After this research is done, they need to do the next level of the study, which is to determine if consuming a healthier animal product makes a difference on a person's health. Keep in mind that something is better than nothing. If you can't do grass-fed, grass-finished beef, it's still good to get on the keto diet. The most important thing is to keep your carbs low. Do what you can, and don't worry about the quality at first. The benefits of doing a low-carb diet are huge. If you can, the next phase to work up to would be increasing the quality of the foods you eat until you get to the point where you're doing the healthy version of the ketogenic diet. Shanen and Beau Ebersole, of Ebersole Cattle Co., will share their expertise raising grain-finished beef cattle with no hormones or antibiotics. Learn about issues from production to marketing methods, then listen in as the Ebersoles answer beginning farmer Dave Hill’s questions on starting up this type of enterprise. Dave Hill is a beginning farmer and current enrollee in PFI’s Savings Incentive Program who raises conventional corn, soybeans and hay with his wife, Annette, near Holy Cross. They plan to expand the operation to include a hormone- and antibiotic-free beef finishing enterprise, direct-marketing the product. Shanen and Beau Ebersole own a small family ranch near Kellerton, where they raise Maine-Anjou cattle and Quarter Horses. The Ebersoles have Animal Welfare Approved certification, and run the ranch as naturally as possible without pesticides, chemicals, hormones or routine antibiotics. This farminar was recorded on December 23, 2014.

Today's guest is Dr. Trent Mozingo! Growing up on a farm in Southeastern Indiana, Dr. Trent quickly learned about the hard work that goes into everyday life, including the associated mental and physical stress. Becoming a doctor and treating patients was always his dream, but it wasn’t until half way through his sixteenth year that he realized Chiropractic care was his calling. Additionally, he has given much attention to nutrition, inflammatory diseases, and the American diet. While musculoskeletal pain is the initial reason he pursued a chiropractic education, Dr. Mozingo has focused most of his patient treatment plans to the prevention of disease, with proper lifestyle changes. He has a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Purdue University, and a Doctorate of Chiropractic from Palmer College of Chiropractic, Florida. Enjoy! Order the Book: 🤍 Website: 🤍

In this video, I cook 3 different types of burgers: grass-fed burgers from Sprouts, grain-finished burgers from Costco, and regenerative farmed/grass-fed burgers from Belcampo Farms. I cooked the burgers on the grill carnivore diet style without condiments in order to be able to determine which burgers taste best. (I used some salt though.) Also, I introduce one of the most used tools for hamburger aficionados, the hamburger press. It's a total time saver and something all meat-eaters should have in their kitchen. This test was based solely on taste! We all know being able to procure meat from a local farmer or regenerative farm is probably best both for the environment and maybe for your body but this taste test was only about which rocked the taste buds. Grass-fed doesn't mean the cow is entirely fed grass. Grass-finished means the cow has consumed grass their entire life. We want the cow to consume only grass and not grains to increase omega 3 fatty acids, CLA, and have more vitamin E and A. But 97 percent of all beef in the US is grain-fed. You also want pasture-raised. Talk to a Product Advisor to find the best product for you! Call 1-540-299-1556 with your questions about Dr. Berg's products.
