This video is to give some insights in creating a very large LED CUBE. I modeled this cube and construction jigs in fusion 360, led Driver PCB is made with KiCad. Code is programmed in PlatformIO using the Arduino Platform. The dome is made from acrylic, I ordered that by size and glued it together with chloroform. All black plastic was printed on my CR10S-pro and glued with chloroform. I have a custom PCB with a Teensy 4.0 mounted on it. Only 3 pins of the Teensy are used to drive 32 channels with 128 leds each. The refresh rate of the display and the animations is 178 frames per second. Everything is non blocking and refreshing the display is done with DMA taking zero processor time. There also is an esp8266 and a touchscreen connected to the PCB, that will need to be programmed at a later time. Code and Gerber files are available for free, link is in the video. Can you build a cheap grow light out of these LED strips that actually works? That is the question that many of you have had over the past few weeks since I released the initial grow light build video. I have been able to do some upgrades and testing and have some decent initial results to share. I started 6 Roma tomato plants and planted them in similar pots all at the same time. I also planted another one and set it near a window. I set the three grow lights at the same height from the plants and all on the same timer. The details of the lights are as follows - Grow light 1 - This is the light I built in the first video with one upgrade. I added a 6500k 7020 LED strip to this light to give it a bit more power. The two strips I used can be found here - Toogod 5050 Grow light strip - 🤍 7020 bright white strip - 🤍 Grow light 2 - This is an all "Cool white light" grow light using 5630 LED strips. I used two of these 5m strips for this light 5630 Cool White LED strip - 🤍 Grow light 3 - This is my old tested FCL grow light it uses 8 cfl bulbs at 6500k/23watts each. CFL bulbs - 🤍 Results - Grow Light 1 - The growth from this light was mediocre at best. Although it was sufficient to keep my seedlings going without any trouble it did not perform better than the CFL light or my sunlight control. Grow Light 2 - The worst growth of the three lights. This light did not have the power intensity or properly light spectrum to produce good growth. It did keep things rowing and alive but not very well at all. Grow light 3 - This light performed above and beyond the other two and even had better growth than the plant I placed near the window. I couldn't be happier with my old CFL lights and they have been running strong for over two years. This was just an initial test to satisfy those who have been asking about them. I am going to build more LED light fixtures with different LED strips and then do a final test to see if I can get better growth from the LED strips for less power consumption and up front cost. If not, it will be back the CFLs! Get SSL Family Merchandise here - 🤍 .$.99 organic seeds - 🤍 - use this link for $.10 off! In this video you can see my DIY tail light project on Alfa Romeo GT. Just to give you heads up, the conversion is more complicated, and time/effort consuming than it seems in the video. Do not attempt to do this yourself unless you have decent knowledge when it comes to car electrics, and more importantly a lot of patience. Acquisition of all the necessary parts was challenge in itself. All of the parts I ordered took 2 month to arrive due to the current situation. FOLLOW ME ON INSTAGRAM: 🤍modustrialmaker || 🤍 This video shows how to make an LED pendant light from plywood, LED strips, and flexible LED channel. Since I designed this for my living room, the music reactive / sound reactive mode had to be incognito. With this in mind, I used warm white / cool white / amber LED strips, instead of RGB strips. In solid white mode, the rings give off various shades of white for a sophisticated modern look that hides the wild side when you switch the light to music visualizer mode. The build is fairly simple. Each of the two rings is made of a stack of three plywood rings, where the middle ring has a lesser radius to create a groove for the LEDs. The rings are simple to cut using a circle cutting jig and router. While I programmed an Arduino Mega to do music visualization based on input from a microphone, you can very easily buy an off-the-shelf music controller for individually controllable LEDs, which is basically plug n’ play for the LED strips. This version of my legendary Ping Pong LED Wall is 2x1,5m in size and consists of 1200 RGB LEDs. The build is done from aluminium using a DIY hole punch. This version is driven by an ESP32 and supports even camera streaming from an ESP32Cam or media streaming from the PC. More on that topic follows in a future update. In this tutorial we're going to make some awesome LED tube lights. You've probably seen these around - Quasar Science, CAME-TV, and many other brands make a variety of them - from several inches to 4'. They're cool, versatile, and can go into lots of tight spaces that a traditional film or video light wouldn't be able to. I built 4x 18" lights but you could make any length you want, and you could swap out the daylight LEDs I used for RGB ones or whatever light color / temp you need for your project. The way I built them these come out to under $25/ foot of finished light. Because these are enclosed they will get slightly warm to the touch, but by attaching our wire to both ends it should cut down on the heat significantly (my first batch was only wired at one end and they got HOT), but like with all lights just be careful!
