Beef shank bulalo 1 Knorr beef cube 1 bunch Napa cabbage pechay Baguio 2 pieces sweet corn divided into 3 parts 15 to 20 pieces long green beans Baguio beans 4 medium yellow onion wedged 1 tablespoon whole peppercorn 3 tablespoons fish sauce patis 12 to 15 cups water Instructions Boil water in a large cooking pot. Add beef shank. Cover the pot and boil for 15 minutes. Scrape the scums out of the cooking pot. Add whole peppercorn and onion. Cover the pot. Continue to cook in low heat for 2 to 3 hours or until the beef becomes tender. Note: you can use a pressure cooker to tenderize the meat. It should only take around 45 minutes. Scoop the fats (oil) floating on top of the soup and discard. Add corn. Cover and cook for 15 minutes. Add long green beans (Baguio beans) and season with fish sauce (patis). Arrange the fresh Napa cabbage (pechay baguio) on the serving bowl. Pour hot broth and arrange the beef shank, corn, and long green beans in the bowl. Serve hot. Share and enjoy!

BULALO is a Filipino beef dish and one of the most favorite dishes, especially during rainy days. Bulalo and Nilaga are most likely the same as they have light-colored soup and almost taste the same. Bulalo is not complete without bone marrow, it’s not healthy to eat but it tastes really good. Bulalo Beef Pares Recipe Details: 🤍 Ingredients 3 lbs. beef shank Ingredients for boiling 1 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper 6 cups water 1 yellow onion wedged Ingredients for sauteeing 1 yellow onion minced 4 cloves garlic crushed 1 thumb ginger minced 4 tablespoons brown sugar 4 to 5 pieces star anise 3 tablespoons cooking oil 4 tablespoons soy sauce 3 cups garlic fried rice. Instructions Pour water into a pressure cooker. Let boil, Add wedged onion, ground black pepper, and salt. Put the beef shank in the pressure cooker. Cover and pressure cook for 20 to 30 minutes. Remove the beef shank. Set the beef stock aside. In a clean pot, heat oil. Saute garlic, onion, and ginger. Add the boiled beef shank. Cook for 1 minute. Pour soy sauce and 1 3/4 cups of beef stock (water used to boil beef) into the pot. Let boil. Cover and then cook in medium heat for 8 minutes. Add star anise. Cook for 12 minutes. Remove the star anise from the pot. Add brown sugar. Stir. Cook for 3 to 5 minutes. Add salt and ground black pepper to taste. Transfer to a serving bowl. Serve with garlic fried rice and beef stock (soup). Share and enjoy!

How to Make Bulalo ✅Ingredients 3 pounds beef shanks bone-in water 1 medium onion peeled and quartered 2 tablespoons fish sauce 1 tablespoon peppercorns 3 corn husked and cut into 3 1 bunch pechay leaves separated 1 green onion cut into 3 salt to taste Dipping Sauce fish sauce to taste calamansi juice to taste ✅Instructions In a large pot over medium heat, bring enough water to cover meat into a boil. Add beef shanks and continue to boil for about 10 minutes, skimming scum that accumulates on top. Remove meat from water and wash under cold water to remove impurities. Discard liquid and rinse the pot. In the pot, return meat and enough water to cover. Bring to a boil, skimming scum that accumulates on top. When the broth has cleared, add onions, fish sauce, and peppercorns. Lower heat to low, cover, and cook at a bare simmer for about 3 hours or until meat is fork-tender. As you can see from their mode of preparation, bulalo is much like nilaga but while the latter can be made with basically any cut of beef, pork or chicken, bulalo is specific in its use of beef shanks and beef marrow bones. Still, like nilaga, the glory of this boiled soup is its broth made rich by collagen-rich beef simmered for hours. In my version, I like to blanch the beef shanks first to rid of excess impurities and this step rewards me with a broth that’s deep in flavor yet clear and sediment-free. Try it and let me know what you think. Bulalo may only have a few ingredients, but it takes an awful lot of patience to prepare. This is only because you have to wait for the beef to reach optimal tenderness. In this recipe, we let our bulalo sit and boil for about an hour and a half. If you have a pressure cooker it should take less time, but still a while, compared to other dishes. In fact, one and a half hours might still be short compared to other recipes, which let the bulalo simmer for much longer. My Bulalo recipe recommends a boiling and cooking time of 4 hours!
