Cooking honey garlic salmon in the oven is a breeze with this super easy and delicious baked salmon recipe. With just a few common ingredients and some salmon fillets, You’ll be eating in no time as salmon cooks in the oven beautifully for this fast and easy salmon recipe. The delicious glaze is made in a snap and only requires a few ingredients you probably already have! All your friends and family will be asking you to cook this salmon recipe again and asking you how to cook salmon in the oven! Ingredients 2 lb salmon fillet cut into four ½ lb pieces • 2 tablespoons Black Magic from 🤍Spiceology (or any other blackening seasoning) • 2 teaspoons Chef Ange Base Seasoning - 🤍 • olive oil Honey Garlic Glaze • 2 tbsp honey • 2 tsp soy sauce • 2 tsp maple syrup • 1 tsp rice wine vinegar or white wine vinegar • A dash of sesame oil • 1/2 tsp Black Magic from Spiceology (or any other blackening seasoning) • 1-2 cloves garlic finely shredded or finely minced Garnish • Thinly sliced scallion greens • Sesame seeds • Lemon slices Directions • Preheat oven to 425F. • Coat salmon in Black Magic or other blackening seasoning, Chef Ange base seasoning (🤍 and olive oil. Set aside and let salmon come up to room temperature for 15-20 min. • In a small bowl, mix honey, soy sauce, maple syrup, vinegar, sesame oil, garlic and blackening seasoning. Set aside for after salmon goes in the oven. (If you like a thicker glaze, you can reduce until thicker and/or add a touch of cornstarch in a small saucepot before using.) • Arrange seasoned salmon evenly on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil and parchment paper. Place on a rack in the lower third of the oven. Bake 10-12 min or until the white proteins start to come out of the sides of the salmon. • Remove salmon from oven and brush on a thin coat of the honey garlic glaze and put back in the oven for 2-3 min to let glaze stiffen up a little. • Remove salmon from oven and transfer to a raised grate on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil. • Brush on another thin coat of glaze and hit lightly with a kitchen torch. If you don’t have a torch, broil on high for 1-2 min. • Remove from oven and let cool to the touch on the baking sheet. • Remove skin or leave on if you like the salmon skin. • Garnish with sesame seeds and transfer to serving platter. • Finish garnish with sliced scallion greens and lemon slices. I used to think salmon belonged in one place and one place only: Cured, thinly sliced and draped onto on my well-toasted everything seed bagel with too much cream cheese, raw red onion and lots of capers. Well, I’m pleased to report it also belongs here: Cooked in browned butter, served with raw red onion, lots of capers and….dill. Of course, there is dill. Sound familiar? Yes, I did make a salmon recipe accidentally inspired by a bagel, thank you for noticing. Of course, “there are no new ideas” is not a new idea, and neither is the marriage of salmon, red onion, capers and dill, but that does not mean I will not NOT be celebrating it to its fullest extent. Which brings me to my next question: Why don’t more bagel shops offer dill? Aside from the recipe, this video truly has it all: a tacky dating story, my In-N-Out order, and a new cast member (its…..a bunch of dill). Even if you don’t make this particular salmon recipe, the method (pouring a mixture of browned butter and olive oil over it and cooking it briefly at a low-ish temperature) is pretty foolproof. I used about 3 pounds of skin on salmon but you can use skinless salmon filets too. Heat your oven to 425⁰ and heat your pan as well. This helps the salmon cook through quickly Season the salmon with salt, pepper, and cayenne pepper then place it on aluminum foil. Make a glaze with 1 tablespoon of butter, 4 cloves of garlic, 1/3 cup of honey and 1 tablespoon of low sodium soy sauce. Pour the glaze over the salmon and bake it for 7 to 10 minutes or until done to your liking. You can run it under the broiler to get a beautiful brown color on top.
