Traveling alone to Machu Picchu never thought was possible. I found out about this wonder of the world when I was studying at my University. I was so fascinated about the story behind it that I told myself jokingly that I will go there one day. Little did I know that It will really happen! I started in Lima, Peru then took a plane to Cusco (Cuzco) There is also a bus going to Cusco which is cheaper but of course, it will take a long time to get there. You can do the Inka trail to get to Machu Picchu from Cusco but as for me, since I only have a limited time traveling, I decided to take the bus and Inka rail even if it's more expensive. I stayed in Aguas Caliente for a night and went to see Machu Picchu in the morning. I hired a private tour guide since I know I will be taking a lot of photos and videos for my content. I guess that's the only downside when I travel, is that I have to work while traveling but I am not complaining at all! I love what I do and I owe it all to you, my subscribers and viewers. Life can be so crazy! I promise to travel the world and share with you guys my experiences and continue to create meaningful content for you to enjoy with your friends and family. I hope that I get to inspire you to see the world while you're young and healthy, to reach for that dream no matter how big you think it is or scary to achieve it! We are Eric and Sarah, a couple of Canadians currently travelling around Peru. We’ve been married since 2017 but have known each other since we were only 6 years old! During our last year of university, we spent 4 months in Honduras on a semester abroad and fell in love with #LatinAmerica and #Spanish. Since then, we began planning and saving to do an extensive Latin America tour. 2020 delayed those plans by half a year but during this time stuck in BC, we explored a new hobby (like everyone in the pandemic) of videography and photography. We are now using our new skills to document our adventures around #SouthAmerica. 6 days in Peru travel vlog. What we did, our tours, Machu Picchu, Cusco, Lima & more. What to pack video here- 🤍 //// OPEN ME FOR MORE //// ✖Susbcribe HERE✖ 🤍 FOLLOW ME on Insta if you wanna see more pics (stories are saved under Peru highlights) ♥INSTAGRAM➜ 🤍 ♥SHOP MY CLOSET- 🤍 ♥SHOP MY FAV THINGS FROM AMAZON- 🤍 ★ MY RECOMMENDATIONS ★ • A guided tour is a must in my opinion if this is your first time going to Cusco. We used "ECO TOURS" and it was about $500/person. This included 4 days, 3 nights stay in the hotel, 2 buffet style lunches, transportation, train ride, entrances to all attractions including Machu Picchu. • We flew Latam airlines from Lima to Cusco. 10/10 would recommend this airline. It was extremely efficient and about $70 roundtrip. They charge extra for checked luggage and if your carry-on is big they will make you check it. • We took the 360 Inca Rail train. We got an upgrade for the inconvenience so they ended up serving lunch + drinks! • We stayed at the Prisma hotel- didn't love the location, the beds were SO uncomfortable, the breakfast was meh and we had to eat dinner there once and it was AWFUL. We found a metal piece inside our pasta. If I were to do it all over again I would book our hotel separately. Our friends recommended this hotel: Antigua Casona de San Blas. But you can do your own research. • We barely had time to eat out, we were only able to do it on our last day in Cusco. We ate lunch at Uchu and it was incredible. Highly recommend!!! • Go to Machu Picchu at 2-3pm if you are able to!!! I thought our tour was going to be rushed and we were barely going to have enough time before the sunset. The park closes at 5:30pm. There were only 4 or 5 groups at 3pm. We basically had it to ourselves. It was awesome. Doing the full path ended up taking 2hrs. WHAT TO BRING • Mosquito repellent!!! for Machu Picchu, even though we went in the Peru fall, actual Machu Picchu was pretty warm and there were mosquitos EVERYWHERE. My legs are still suffering lol • Water backpack- I can't believe we didn't bring one. It's the most convenient way of staying hydrated while being hands-free. We did bring an insulated water bottle which was still great. • Wet Wipes / hand sanitizer- this is a must, must restrooms didn't have soap or toilet paper. • A fanny pack or belt-bag - HANDS DOWN THE BEST DECISION I MADE. Specially for Lima. • Sunscreen!! • Dog food/treats- if you love doggies like me, it'll break your heart to see how many stray dogs there are all over Cusco. I brought with me from the US a few bags of dog treats. • Snacks/protein bars- we would have a very early breakfast (5-6am) since most of the time our tours started pretty early and wouldn't have lunch until 1pm or later and dinner wouldn't be until 8pm or later, most days we had to skip dinner!! so keep this in mind. SOME MORE TIPS- ALTITUDE SICKNESS MED: it’s called “Sorojchi pills” and we got them in Lima. Take one BEFORE the flight to Cusco • Wear layers of clothing!! This will depend on what time of year you go, but in early June it would be in the high 30s in the morning/night but would go up to high 60s in the middle of the day. We would end up taking off all our jackets/coats. • Comfortable shoes!! This may sound obvious, but honestly there was no point for me to bring more than 1 pair of sneakers. I never wore anything else. • For currency exchange- do it at legit places in la Avenida del Sol in Cusco (or ask your tour guide/hotel) you'll see a lot of people with cash in the streets and it might be fake/damaged bills. • I honestly overpacked and packed badly for this trip. As a blogger (lol) I wanted to take all these pictures with fun outfits but it was unrealistic. Comfortable clothes are the way to go specially if you're planning on doing a lot of hikes. I know this may seem obvious for some people, but cute clothes ended up being a waste of space. • 4 days and 3 nights was not enough. It was all the time we had, but if I were to do it all over I would do at least 7 days. We didn't see as much as we wanted to. • If you want to take pictures with or of the llamas/alpacas definitely keep some change on you. The ladies will ask you for money after. They say at the beginning it's whatever you want to tip but then they end up asking for a specific amount. You will see them all over the city of Cusco and some of the towns, but I didn't see any in Machu Picchu!!! The llamas there were roaming free so it was harder to get a good pic with them. →CONTACT ME: filomenagdc🤍gmail.com
You made it all the way to Machu Picchu in Peru and now all that's left is to have the most epic visit to the lost Incan city! In this vlog we take you around this world wonder and share 12 travel tips that you need to know before your visit to help make sure it is everything you always dreamed of! Something you will need to prepare for your trip to Machu Picchu (and all of Peru for that matter) is the right clothing, and we recommend getting some 100% alpaca wool items from Appalachian Gear Company for your adventures! Use our code NICOLEMICO for 10% off your order at 🤍. We have been LIVING in our All-Paca Fleece Hoodies during our time in Peru; they are seriously incredible! We have been looking forward to our visit to Machu Picchu for years. We were really curious about how it would measure up against all the hype about this sacred site, and we were relieved to discover it was even better than we thought. From Aguas Calientes we took a bus up to Machu Picchu before the sun was up, because visiting Machu Picchu bright and early is the BEST time of day to see the city (more on that in the video). Our guide Yiyo from Peruvian Paths and Adventures taught us so much about the Incan's who lived here and the people who excavated the site in the 1900s to bring it back to life for the world to continue to enjoy. We chose to climb Wayna Picchu Mountain as part of our visit to the sacred Incan city and oh man was that an adventure! A section of this hike is nicknamed the "stairs of death" and it is easy to see why! The views of Machu Picchu from the top were incredible, and we were really proud to have made it up this final mountain after hiking the Salkantay trail for the past 4 days! After our visit to Machu Picchu we hopped on a train from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo through the Sacred Valley. People rave about the Sacred Valley, and we quickly discovered why on this train ride. The 1.5 hour ride seemed to end way too quickly, and before we knew it we were saying goodbye to the Sacred Valley and wrapping up our tour of the Salkantay Trek and Machu Picchu. In our opinion, the BEST way to get to Machu Picchu is by hiking the Salkantay Trek. This 3-4 day trek in the Peruvian Andes leads you to Humantay Lake, over mountains, through jungle, and eventually brings you to the gateway to Machu Picchu; Aguas Calientes. Although there are multiple ways to get to Machu Picchu, taking the scenic route is always our preferred method, and we think this video makes it clear why we prefer to take the long way :) We did this trek with Peruvian Paths and Adventures, and you can see in the video how much we enjoyed our trip! You can check out Peruvian Paths and Adventures here: 🤍 Not only was the food excellent and the guide incredibly knowledgeable, but having a team available to organize and help our group as needed was invaluable! We really can't say enough good things about Peruvian Paths and Adventures and recommend you check them out for any adventure you want to do in Peru! If you are wondering how to get to Machu Picchu, or are debating between the Inca Trail and the Salkantay Trail, we hope you find this video helpful! After watching the video we hope you agree that the Salkantay Trail is absolutely gorgeous and is a route to Machu Picchu that deserves some consideration. One of the major perks of the Salkantay Trail is that if you need a bit of extra help, there are horse and van options along the way that ensure everyone can make it to Aguas Calientes safely. As you can see in the video, these options helped our group have an awesome trip and made sure we had the energy needed for our visit to Machu Picchu! New to our channel? #MachuPicchu #AguasCalientes #Cusco #Peru #PeruRail Join us on our journey to Machu Picchu- Aguas Calientes in Peru. We took a very scenic PeruRail train ride to Machu Picchu from Cusco to Aguas Calientes, which is the town closest to Machu Picchu. We booked our train ride through PeruRail and rode the Vistadome, aweing at the beautiful valley view. During the ride, we traveled over the rivers and through the foothills of the beautiful Andes mountains. Aguas Calientes is a small town below Machu Picchu and is the pit stop for any traveler going to the ancient city. We spent the day exploring the quaint town, walking down the cobblestone streets, eating Peruvian dishes, and shopping. Stay tuned to next week's video as we explore Machu Picchu. We are Gladys and Kenny, we finally made our dreams a reality. In January 2018, we downsized and take the steps to pursue our dream, to travel full time for as long as we can. We rented our house, moved into our attached studio apartment, and continued to travel on a part-time basis until it prepared us for full-time travel. On June 30, 2019, we left to travel the world full-time. The first stop was Bali, Indonesia. It wasn't a simple decision to leave our friends and family. Hoje, as ruínas deste grande símbolo do Império Inca encantam visitantes do mundo inteiro. The Hiram Bingham train takes you from Cusco to Machu Picchu for $535... Is it worth it?! On this luxury train, we’re served mimosas while dancing with amazing local performers before boarding the 1920’s style carriage. We are also served a 5 course meal with silver and crystal while seeing beautiful scenery and Peruvian culture fly by outside of the window. There’s a luxurious observation car with live music and bottomless cocktails all for free with the price of the ticket. This was by far the best way to see Machu Picchu for the first time! Hello #trippers #Machupicchu was my bucket list destination. My dream came true this year when I visited Peru for the first time. I have been to many South American countries before but #Peru was the first time and I was #solotravelerfromIndia traveling to this sacred Inca Valley. Leaving your home and reaching to Lima and then to Cusco is quite a journey, For reaching Machupicchu you have to reach first #cusco and from there you can take a bus or train to #aguascalientes, which is the train station for #visitingMachupicchu. So in this video I have shared some valuable information for planning your #triptoMachupichufromIndia. Please show your love and support by giving a like and leaving a comment below.
