Starting my last training cycle before dunk camp! The focus this cycle is on max strength and building intensity, with a goal to match my back squat and deadlift PR at the end of the cycle. Currently dealing with a sprained wrist so sadly will not be able to power clean. I will be testing my running vertical jump at dunk camp! In this video I go over some of the most effective methods to get rid of knee pain. This is specifically for patellar tendinopathy, which is one of the most common overuse injuries in jumping athletes, and especially dunkers! The three types of exercises that I cover are isometrics, depth landings, and slow concentric strength training with barbell back squats. Properly progressing with these exercises will build up your tendon's capacity to bear load and eventually progress to more traditional jump training that can get you adding inches on your vertical jump! It's deload week!! Today we had to max out our power clean and squat heavy with low volume. The goal is to peak for the dunk session at the end of the week. However.. we had an impromptu low rim dunk session after we finished lifting and we ended up creating a new dunk and going viral for it! So I have a dunk contest coming up on December 12th, so I officially started a training cycle focused on explosive strength, AKA a power phase!!
