Masala Fish Curry Recipe | Fish Curry Recipe | Fish Curry | Masala Fish Recipe | Rohu Fish Curry | Fish Recipe | Fish Curry by Spice Eats Ingredients for Masala Fish Curry: - Fish (Rohu, Katla, Asian Carp) - 500 gms For marination: - Turmeric powder- 1/4 tsp - Red Chilli Powder- 1 tsp - Salt- 3/4 tsp For Masala Paste: - Cumin seeds- 1 tsp - Dried Red Chillies- 2 - Garlic- 10 cloves - Green Chillies- 2-3 (cut into 2) - Red Chilli Powder- 1.5 tsp - Coriander Powder- 1.5 tsp - Turmeric Powder- 1/4 tsp Other Ingredients: - Onion, grated- 2 medium (around 130 gms) - Kasuri Methi (dried Fenugreek leaves)- 1 tsp - Curry leaves- 15-20 - Tamarind, soaked in water- 4 tbsp juice - Thick coconut milk- 4 tbsp - Salt to taste- 1/2 tsp - Coriander leaves for garnishing- 2 tbsp - Oil - 3 tbsp + oil for pan frying the fish pieces Preparation: - Clean, wash and pat dry the fish pieces. Add the turmeric, red chilli powder, salt and mix well. Set aside for 30 mins. - To prepare the Masala paste, take a pan and dry roast the red chillies and cumin seeds on low heat for 1 minute. Now add the garlic cloves and continue roasting on low heat for another 2 mins. Set aside to cool. Add them to blender/grinder along with the green chillies. Coarse grind. - Now add 3-4 tbsp of water and blend it into a smooth paste. The masala paste should have thin consistency so you can add more water to make into a thin consistency. - To pan fry the marinated fish, add oil to a frying pan and place the fish pieces side by side. - Fry on medium heat for 2 mins and turn it on the other side. Continue to fry on medium heat for 2 mins. Take these out on a plate. Process: - Heat oil in a flat pan or kadai. - Add the grated onions and fry on medium heat for 7-8 mins till light brown in colour. - Now add the masala paste and give a mix, add 1/2 tsp salt to it and continue to fry on medium heat for 3 mins till water dries up and oil separates. - Add the dried fenugreek leaves (Kasuri Methi) and fry 1 min on medium heat. Add the curry leaves and fry on low to medium heat for 2 mins. - Now add the tamarind juice, give a mix and then add 250 ml water. Cook it on medium heat till it comes to a boil. - Lower the heat and place the fried fish pieces side by side and cover & cook on low heat for 5 mins. - Remove lid and flip the fish pieces. Add the thick coconut milk, give a mix. - Cover & cook for another 10 mins on low heat till oil separates. - Garnish with the chopped coriander leaves, mix and simmer for a minute. - Serve with rice. #masalafishcurry #fishcurryrecipe #masalafishrecipe #fishcurry #fishrecipe #spiceeats #spiceeatsrecipes #spiceeatsfishcurry

Onion Masala paste: - Onion, cubed- 2 medium (150 gms.) - Ginger chopped- 1” piece - Garlic cloves- 6 - Cumin Seeds- 1 tsp Spice Powders: - Turmeric Powder- 1/2 tsp - Red Chilli Powder- 2 tsp Other Ingredients: - Tomato purée or paste- 3 tbsp (readymade) - Coconut Milk- 1 cup (225 ml) - White Vinegar- 2 tsp - Refined Oil- 3 tbsp - Salt- 1 tsp Preparation: - Make a paste of the cubed onions, peeled and chopped ginger, peeled garlic and cumin seeds. Remove and set aside. - Chop the green chillies and wash & take out the curry leaves. - For the coconut milk you can use readymade coconut milk or make fresh coconut milk from fresh coconut at home. - For the fish, take boneless fish fillets and cut them into thick slices. Process: - Heat oil in a pan and add the mustard seeds. Once it splutters, add the curry leaves and the chopped green chillies. - Give a stir and then add the Onion paste. Give a mix and continue to fry on medium heat for 7-8 mins till light brown in color. - Now add the tomato purée, give a mix and fry on low heat for 2 mins. - Now add the Turmeric, Red Chilli Powder and salt. Give a mix and fry on medium heat for 2-3 mins after adding 3 tbsp water till oil separates. - Add the coconut milk and 200 ml water, give a mix and cover & cook on low heat for 5 mins till oil separates. - Now add the boneless fish pieces and give a mix. Cover & cook on low heat for 10 mins. - Add the white vinegar, shake the pan to give a mix. Mix well & set aside for around 30 mins. - Make a paste of the quartered onions, tomatoes and one or two green chillies. - Prepare coconut milk or use store-bought coconut milk. - Pan-fry the fish pieces in 2 batches. Remove & set aside. - Chop the coriander leaves. Process: - Heat oil in a kadai & add the onion-tomato-chilli paste. - Fry on medium to low heat for around 7-8 mins. - Add the ginger garlic paste. - Mix & continue to fry for another 15 mins on medium heat, till the paste is cooked & has a little grainy texture. Make sure that the masala doesn’t burn or become brown in color. - Add the red Chilli powder, Coriander powder, Cumin powder & 1/2 tsp salt and mix it well. Pat dry - Fine chop the curry leaves and coriander leaves. Marination: - Add 1 tsp salt and the turmeric powder to the fish pieces. Rub it on both sides and set aside for around 10 mins. - For the 2nd marinade, take a bowl and add all the items for the marinade specified above. Mix it well and then add the marinated fish pieces. Mix well and set aside for 1 hr. One of the dishes that is both popular, and always hits the spot is a Kerala style Kottayam fish curry. And so today we’re going to make it, together. We had Kottayam fish curry a number of times throughout Kerala, home cooked, in the jungle and homely restaurant, and at a legendary toddy shop, known for serving extra spicy Indian food. They were all extremely delicious. Ok, let’s get started on this recipe: Ingredients: ½ kg. King Mackerel 3 tbsp coconut oil 1 tbsp mustard seeds 1 tbsp fenugreek seeds 10 - 15 dried whole chilies 4 - 6 stems of curry leaves 50 grams ginger 1 head garlic 6 small shallots 20 grams dried pot tamarind - soak in 300 ml water for 15 minutes. 4 tbsp. Kashmiri chili 4 tbsp. Strong chili 2 tbsp. Coriander powder ½ tbsp. Turmeric powder ½ tbsp. Black pepper Salt to taste Method: Pound ginger and garlic into a coarse paste. Slice shallots. Set all dry spices aside on a plate so you can use them quickly. Soak dry pot tamarind in water and set aside for at least 15 minutes to extract the flavor. Begin cooking by heating coconut oil in pot. When hot, immediately toss in mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, curry leaves, and whole dried chilies. Fry for a few seconds until smoky and fragrant. Add ginger garlic paste and shallots and stir fry until golden and fragrant. Add all dry spices, if it gets to dry add a little water, and make into a paste. Add pot tamarind water, and mix into spices. You can also add some extra water to make it liquid. Season with salt to taste. Taste test to balance spices, pot tamarind sourness, and salt. Add more if needed. Final step is to add the fish - and once you add it - don’t stir your curry. Make sure fish is submerged into curry sauce. Simmer to 5 - 10 minutes depending on how big your fish is. When fish is cooked, curry is ready. Eat with rice, or tubers. Wash and clean the seer fish pieces. 2. Add turmeric powder, salt, red chilli powder and mix them all well. 3. Add gingelly oil to a mud pot and put in mustard seeds along with fenugreek seeds. 4. Once the mustards start splattering, add the chopped shallots, whole shallots and garlic cloves. 5. Saute for 10 mins and add green chillies along with curry leaves. 6. Add ginger garlic paste and saute until the raw smell goes off. 7. Add in the chopped tomatoes and cook. 8. Once they are slightly mushy, add rock salt, red chilli powder, coriander powder and mix it all well. 9. Now add thick tamarind puree, mix well and add water. 10. Give it all a quick mix and boil the gravy for atleast 5 mins. 11. Now drop the marinated fish pieces into the mud pot and gently swirl the pot without stirring the curry with a ladle to avoid the breakage of fish pieces. 12. Keep the flame on a medium low and cook the curry for about 10 mins. 13. After 10 mins, the oil starts to separate from the gravy. Garnish it with freshly chopped coriander leaves. 14. Very tasty Seer Fish Curry is ready to be served with some hot steamed rice. Hey guys! Seer fish has lots of flavour in it and a curry like this with such single bone fish is extremely enjoyable. For Frying In a pan heat mustard oil and fry the marinated fish on medium high heat from both sides until golden brown. Remove and keep aside. Then add the potato wedges and also fry them until golden brown in the same oil. Remove them and keep aside for further use. For Fish Curry In the same pan with the remaining oil add bay leaf, onion seeds, ginger julienne, green chillies and saute for a few seconds. Now add onion paste and continue cooking on medium heat until it turns light brown and oil starts separating. Then add fried potato, degi red chilli powder, water, salt and cook until the potatoes are completely cooked. Add cubed tomatoes, fried fish and stir it properly with light hands. Punjabi Fish Curry | Punjabi Fish Masala Recipe | Fish Curry Recipe | Masala Fish Curry Recipe | Fish Curry | Masala Fish Recipe | Rohu Fish Curry | Fish Recipe | Fish Curry by Spice Eats Ingredients Punjabi Fish Curry: - Fish- 500 gms (Rohu, Trout, Asian Carp) For Marination: - Turmeric Powder- 1/2 tsp - Red Chilli Powder- 1 tsp - Coriander Powder- 2 tsp - Cumin Powder- 1/2 tsp - Salt- 1 tsp - Ginger Garlic paste- 2 tsp - Green Chillies, crushed- 2 tsp (around 3-4 green chillies) - Lemon Juice- 2 tsp - Refined Oil- 1 tbsp For Onion-Tomato paste: - White Onion, sliced- 2 medium - Red Tomatoes, sliced- 2 medium Other Ingredients: - Garam Masala Powder- 1/2 tsp - Chaat Masala Powder- 1/2 tsp - Kasuri Methi (Fenugreek leaves)- 1 tbsp - Refined Oil- 4 tbsp - Salt for seasoning- 1/4 tsp Preparation: - Take 3-4 green chillies, break into pieces and crush it in a mortar & pestle. Take out 2 tsps of it for adding during marination. - Wash and pat dry the fish pieces. Add all the ingredients for the marinade, mix well and set aside for 30 mins. - Slice the onions and tomatoes. - To make the Onion-Tomato paste, heat 1.5 tbsp of refined oil in a pan and add the sliced onions. Fry on medium heat for 3-4 mins till it starts turning brown. Now add the sliced tomatoes, give a mix and fry on medium heat for 2-3 mins till it becomes soft. - Allow it to cool and then add in a blender. Blend it once and then add around 150 ml water. Blend it into a gravy like paste. Process: - Heat oil in a pan and add the marinated fish pieces side by side. - Fry the fish pieces on medium heat for 3 mins on each side till slightly browned. - Now add the onion-tomato paste, give a gentle mix and cook on low heat for 4-5 mins till oil separates. - Add 200 ml water, Garam masala powder and 1/4 tsp (or to taste) salt to season and give a gentle mix. Cover & cook on low heat for 10 mins till oil separates. - Remove the lid and add the Chaat Masala and roasted & powdered Kasuri Methi (fenugreek leaves). The classic Indian Fish Curry for that lazy holiday afternoon. INDIAN FISH CURRY (KETO FRIENDLY) Ingredients 2 medium pomfrets, cut into darnes 2 tbsps finely chopped onion 4-5 dried red chillies ½ cup fresh scraped coconut Salt to taste ½ tsp turmeric powder 1 tbsp coconut oil ½ tsp chopped ginger 1 tbsp tamarind pulp Coriander sprig for garnish Method 1. In a blender, add 1 tbsp chopped onion, red chillies, coconut and a little water, grind to a fine paste. 2. In a bowl, add fish darnes, salt, and turmeric powder. Mix well and keep aside for 10 minutes to marinate. 3. Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add chopped ginger and remaining onion, sauté till golden brown. Add ground paste and mix well for 1-2 minutes. Add 2 cups of water and mix well. Let the mixture come to a boil. 4. Add tamarind pulp and cook for a minute. Add the marinated fish pieces and mix slightly. Cook for 5-6 minutes on medium heat. 5. Fish Curry Village Style | Fish Gravy Recipe Andhra Style | Fish Curry Recipe | Fish Curry | Chepala Pulusu Andhra Style | Rohu Fish Curry | Chepala Pulusu Recipe | Fish Recipe | Fish Curry by Spice Eats Ingredients for Fish Curry: - Fish- 1 Kg (Rohu, Trout, Asian Carp) Onion-Tomato-Chilli Paste: - Onion, quartered- 3 medium - Tomatoes, quartered- 2 medium - Green Chillies, cut- 3 Roasted Masala Powder: - Coriander Seeds- 1.5 tsp - Cumin Seeds- 3/4 tsp - Methi Seeds(Fenugreek seeds)- pinch (1/8 tsp) Tempering: - Mustard Seeds- 1 tsp - Curry Leaves- 15-20 Other Ingredients: - Ginger Garlic paste- 2 tbsp - Turmeric Powder- 1 tsp - Red Chilli Powder- 5-6 tsp - Tamarind pulp- 50 gm tamarind soaked in 200 ml water & strained - Oil- 6 tbsp - Salt- 2 tsp + 1/4 tsp for seasoning Preparation: - Soak 50 gms of tamarind in 200 ml of warm warm for 30 mins. Strain it to remove the seeds and get a thick tamarind pulp. - Alternatively you can also use readymade tamarind paste but you will have to add less since that is more sour. - Peel & quarter the onions and tomatoes, cut the green chillies. - Add all these into a grinder/blender and blend into a smooth paste. - Dry roast the items for the Spice Powder (coriander, cumin and methi seeds) in a pan on low heat for 2-3 mins. Remove onto a plate to cool and then grind it into a powder. Process: - Heat oil in a pot/pan and add the mustard seeds and curry leaves. Give a stir and then add the Onion-Tomato-Chilli paste. Fry on medium heat for 5 mins and then add the Ginger Garlic paste. Mix and continue to fry on medium heat for another 5 mins till the paste is cooked and no raw smell remains. - Now add the Turmeric, Red Chilli Powder & salt, give a mix and continue to fry on medium to low heat for 3-4 mins till the masala is cooked. - Add the tamarind pulp, give a mix and add 450 ml water. Give a mix and cover with a lid. - Cook covered on low heat for 10 mins till the gravy is cooked & oil separates. - Slide in the fish pieces side by side and gently stir them in the gravy. - Cover & cook on low heat for 10 mins. - Remove the lid and add in the roasted masala powder. Shake the pan gently to mix. - Add salt for seasoning. Meen Kulambu / Fish Kulambu is a staple food in Southern parts of India. There are several variants of Fish Curry recipe which involve combinations of tamarind, coconut and green mango. All of them have one thing in common that is when you make the fish curry perfectly the smell is going to diffuse and invite your neighbors. Today we are going to see the traditional variation of this recipe. Ingredients: 1/2 kg Red Snapper Fish For Masala: 1 tsp mustard seeds 1 tsp Cumin seeds 1 tsp Fenugreek seeds 1 tsp pepper corns To grind: 3 cloves of garlic 4 shallots 1 tomato 1/4 tsp turmeric powder 2 tsp chilli powder 1 tbsp coriander powder 1 cup grated coconut For Curry: 2 tbsp oil 3 green chillies 1 goose berry size tamarind(juice) salt to taste curry leaves for garnishing. Learn How To Make Pomfret Fry Recipe, an Indian Style Fish Fry Recipe by Chef Varun Inamdar. Make this delicious Fish Recipe in a simple, quick and easy method, at your home and share your experience with us in the comments below. Ingredients:- 3 Medium sized Pomfrets ½ cup Semolina ¼ cup Gram flour 4 tbsp. Red chilli powder 1 tsp. Turmeric powder 1 tsp. Ginger garlic chilli crush Asafoetida 1 tbsp. coriander powder 1 tsp. Salt 1 Lemon (juice) Method:- The Marination:- - In a bowl, add chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, asafoetida, ginger garlic green chilli crush, lemon juice, salt and mix it well. - Rub in the marination properly on the fish covering the whole fish. The Frying:- - In a bowl mix semolina, gram flour and salt together and mix it well. - In a pan heat some oil. - Dab the fish in the above mix and place it in the pan. - Fry the fish on a moderate flame. - After a minute or so flip the fish and fry it on another side for another minute or so.
