JACOB COLLIER performs the song "HAJANGA" for BalconyTV. Subscribe to us right now at 🤍 'Like' us on Facebook - 🤍 Follow us on Twitter - 🤍 PRESENTED BY LOUISE HOUGHTON AND TINA EDWARDS MICROPHONES BY RODE 🤍 Jacob Collier is a 21-year-old, London-born singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist of prodigious talent who has been hailed by the press as “The Future of Music” (as Jazzwise magazine put it), thanks to his sheer virtuosity, keen musical intelligence, and penchant for technological innovation that is borne out in every project he undertakes. His YouTube covers, in which he reimagines everything from Stevie Wonder’s “Don’t You Worry ‘Bout A Thing,” to George Gershwin’s “Fascinating Rhythm,” are a marvel of creativity, with split screens displaying multiple incarnations of Collier singing multi-part vocal harmonies. His live show is even more ambitious. He simulates a digital one-man band using custom equipment built by a Massachusetts Institute of Technology graduate student, including a “vocal harmonizer” that allows Collier to sing 12-part vocal harmonies and a series of looping stations for various instruments, plus a video element with 3D cameras that enable him to interact with multiple versions of his image projected onto a screen. In the end, Collier hopes to inspire others to invest in their own imagination and to be living proof that permission is not needed from any gate-keepers to make art and release it into the world. Work hard and be passionate about your craft and your audience will come to you. “I hope from hearing this album, people take away that making something, whether it’s music or anything else — just for the love of exploring it and figuring it out — is a real life-affirming and sustaining idea.” 🤍 CREDITS / SPONSORS PRODUCER/ PRESENTER - Tina Edwards PRODUCER / PRESENTER - Louise Houghton Sound engineer - Lauren Deakin-Davies Camera OP - Paul Black Social Media - Will Sebastian Tune in again to BalconyTV //

This is my transcription/arrangement of Hajanga by Jacob Collier, based loosely off the version he performed with Jules Buckley and the Metropole Orkest at his BBC Proms performance in 2018 (where I was lucky enough to be in the audience right at the front!). Everybody, near and far (Tell 'em about it, tell 'em about it) Come together as you are (Sing the hajanga, sing the hajanga) To the ocean, to the sky (Tell 'em about it, tell 'em about it) Sing that cosmic lullaby (Sing the hajanga, sing the hajanga) Sing the hajanga Sing your pleasure sing your pain (Tell 'em about it, tell 'em about it) Like you'll never sing again (Sing the hajanga, sing the hajanga) Let it echo, loud and clear (Tell 'em about it, tell 'em about it) Across the ancient stratosphere (Sing the hajanga, sing the hajanga) Even when the sun refuse to shine There's a song of love that never dies Even when the good days pass you by Lift your voices to the sky singin' La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la As the words go round and round (Tell 'em about it, tell 'em about it) Let the tears roll down and down (Sing the hajanga, sing the hajanga) Sing the way you wish to be (Tell 'em about it, tell 'em about it) And let that singing set you free (Sing the hajanga, sing the hajanga) Even when those dark clouds bring you down There's a spark of joy that can be found Even when things break and fall apart Lift your hands up from your heart, singin' La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la Every morning And every night Through the darkness To the light Like a beacon Shining bright Sing the hajanga you'll be alright From the winter Comes the spring It don't matter What life will bring Said you can do most Anything So give your hajanga A song to sing Tell your mama Tell your pa Sing it near and Sing it far Be exactly The way you are See the hajanga It's your guiding star So every woman To every man In every nation In every land I said please you've gotta understand Now sing the hajanga And take my hand sing it Then one day your life is through (Tell 'em about it, tell 'em about it) Nothing more that you can do (Sing the hajanga, sing the hajanga) So give away the things you know (Tell 'em about it, tell 'em about it) And tell your friends you love them so (Sing the hajanga, sing the hajanga) Tell 'em hajanga

Here's another mashup I did because I remembered how similar the middle section of Bakumbe is to the transition sections in Hajanga. This is pretty fun to listen to so I hope you enjoy it, and since they're fun to make, I may be looking for more similarities in his music to try and put together, so look out for that possibly.
After the screening of the new documentary about Jacob Collier's MIT residency during the Fall of 2016, this was Jacob's closing performance. I recommend you to check the MITVideoProductions amazing video "Imagination Off the Charts: Jacob Collier comes to MIT" here: 🤍 This clip was originally taken from here: 🤍 I don't intend to sell or misuse this material so all credits go to MITVideoProductions and their respective editors. hmm, quite. tough decision but this one is way up there!! There is so much information contained within a Jacob Collier song although it's often well concealed. Here is a teaser of only a small section of "Hajanga" which i discuss in full on my Patreon page For only £4 you can have access to all my videos and for £12 we can go over what ever you're working on at the moment in a 15 min chat or lesson. £50 gets you a full 45 min 1-on-1 which is considerably cheaper than my 'old world' lesson rate Take a look here 🤍patreon.com/robinmullarkey

It's not easy to play all the notes that Jacob Collier plays with a guitar, but I tried the same. Here's my version of one of the most beautiful pieces of Jacob, Hajanga! I hope you like it! 🤍enricomariamilanesi.com 🤍facebook.com/enricomariamilanesi
I've been working on this one for a while, especially the chorus was hard to figure out, but I did. This is just a short cover of the song, since the original is 6 minutes long. A video tutorial will come sometime next week probably. Cheers!

Decided to upload this one that was just sitting on my phone for months. Hard to describe Jacob, but I'm just so thankful for his existence. This song is what happiness sounds like and the birds chirping picked up on my mic helps! :) #jacobcollier #adityaravindran #harmony
