Props.... Something I've always tried to bring along for our shoots but haven't been succesful with. This time, (little) thought was put into it and I'm really happy with the results. It also helps when your model is a modelling genius. With this shoot I felt like we entered a new age of our photography and filmmaking. Still have ways to go but at least we are on our way! Okay, this was really exciting! First time I went abroad to shoot a portrait video with my photographer sister Whitley. Such a great experience. Met a lot of stellar people and let me tell you. The next trips are already booked and planned. I cannot wait to share more and more with this amazing community. I don’t like to toot my own horn, so let me toot my sisters’. Bandits & Darlings is for people who truly value authenticity and look for an alternative to mass production. Fairtrade to us is really fair trade. The country of origin does not necessarily need to be a developing country. The production process – from leather to bag – may involve up to 10 families, directly or indirectly. These people are true craftsmen who have been working with the materials for generations. In the Netherlands, Bandits & Darlings is a one-man business, but I am definitely not alone. The people in the workplace in Morocco and I form a team, and we have daily contacts. During the time of our cooperation we developed an honest friendship. To conclude, buying a bag at Bandits & Darlings is more than just buying any bag. It is a contribution to the bigger picture. Buying a bag at Bandits & Darlings completes the positive circle. Last weekend my sister and I went to Paris for the Build + Bloom photography meetup hosted by Jessica Whitaker and Jenny Yarmolyuk. It was such and eye-opener. Meeting new photography friends, meeting Jessica and Jenny themselves. I've never in my live found two people more passionate about their craft. Getting their advice and tips about running a photography business was so helpful and informative. Being around other creative photographers was amazing. Everyone was so nice and incredibly talented. One things for sure, I cannot wait to meet up with them again. At the end, Jessica set up a mini shoot to quickly show how she goes about shooting clients with Paige (photographer) as the model. This video is a short visual of how everything went down. A successful marriage requires falling in love many times, always with the same person. While shooting this marriage video I could see them falling in love with each other over and over again within each frame. It makes it easier to direct and capture their love because everything is authentic. I wish this couple a lifetime of love.
