Have you ever wondered what the tallest three buildings in London are? And how they compare to the tallest buildings around the world? You will be amazed when you see how they compare, and especially how they compare to the future planned buildings of the world. Historically London has not been known for its skyscrapers compared to other major cities like Manhattan, Tokyo and Beijing. In the last 12 years there has been a real drive from property developers to change that. Laws have been eased to allow London to become one of Europe’s tallest centres and having an office in the sky is now possible. In this video we show you the three tallest buildings that London has to offer, and we compare them to the world’s highest. You will be amazed at how they are dwarfed by the high rises around the world. The third highest building in London, at 235m tall, is 1 Canada Square in Canary wharf, also referred to as Docklands. There are plenty of available offices to choose from in the building at present. In second place, standing at 278m/ 62 stories high is 22 Bishopsgate in the City of London. This building is also referred to as Twentytwo, or as the Helter Skelter. This is considered a very successful office development with only a few remaining available office floors. The tallest building in London, coming in at first place, is The Shard at a massive 309m tall. Positioned south of the river in Southwark, it is an internationally recognised piece of architecture. It is the tallest building in the UK, and the 7th tallest in Europe. The building is a mixed-use development made up of restaurant, hotel, residential apartments and office space. The building is fully let with only a small amount of office availability coming up each year. Although these London buildings are extremely high, it is amazing to see how insignificant they are when stood next to the world’s tallest buildings. Also, the expected development of tall buildings around the world over the next decade is going to make them even less significant in height. For example, the plans for the build of The Tokyo Tower of Babel measures in at an incredible 10,000m tall. To learn more about the available office space in these buildings; or available office space in London in general, then please do get in contact. hello🤍oneadv.co.uk 02079238620 🤍oneadv.co.uk We hope you like this video. London is full of wonderful architecture and magnificent things to see. But that's not what this video is all about. In this video I list the top 10 ugliest buildings in London! This list covers my own picks for the ugliest buildings in the greater London area. The buildings covered in this list are the following: 10. No 1 Poultry - a very strange postmodern building from 1997 9. Strata SE1 - also called the Strata Tower, a tower that looks like a giant electric razor 8. The Blue Fin Building - made up of 2000 metal plates in various shades of blue 7. The Macadam Building - named after Sir Ivison Macadam...and it looks like a prison 6. The Walkie-Talkie - a tall building that gives the London skyline a slightly silly look 5. The Vauxhall Tower and St George Wharf - is that a giant nosehair trimmer...? 4. ArcelorMittal Orbit - the strangest and largest public monument in London 3. The SIS Building - home of the MI6, and it looks like the lair of an evil Bond villain 2. Tate Modern - located inside an old power plant that they haven't tried to make any prettier at all 1. The Ministry of Justice - an insanely ugly brutalist concrete building If you enjoy this list, have a look at the Ugliest Buildings in Stockholm as well: 🤍 For more adventures every week, subscribe to the channel: 🤍 Facebook: 🤍 Twitter: 🤍 Instagram: 🤍

Successfully incorporating functionality and modern office chic into an existing 1930’s warehouse is an exacting task. Add to this the requirement for energy efficiency credentials and you have the makings of a modern classic. This edition of NDY TV explores why the Buckley Building – located in the heart of Clerkenwell within the London Borough of Islington –is widely heralded as a leading exemplar on the merits of refurbishment over rebuilding.

‘Florence’ and ‘Cecilia’, the two giant tunnelling machines excavating HS2’s longest tunnels, have passed the halfway point on their 10 mile journey under the Chilterns. The enormous 2,000 tonne machines have spent the last 18 months excavating the twin tunnels between the M25 and South Heath in Buckinghamshire that will help protect the environment while improving connections between London, Birmingham and the North. As well as digging and lining the tunnels, engineers have also completed the excavation of five shafts that will provide ventilation and emergency access near Chalfont St Peter, Chalfont St Giles, Amersham, Little Missenden and Chesham Road. They also recently completed the first breakthrough from a cross passageway to the shaft at Chalfont St Peter. More than 1.3 million cubic metres of chalk and flint – enough to fill more than 500 Olympic swimming pools - has been excavated so far and will be used as part of an ambitious chalk grassland restoration project at the south portal of the tunnel. This will see the creation of 127 hectares of new landscaping, wildlife habitat and biodiverse chalk grassland. Once complete, the Chiltern tunnels will carry high speed trains between London and the North at speeds of up to 200mph (320km/h), helping to improve connections, free up space for more freight and local trains on the existing railway and provide zero carbon journeys for people across the UK. Tuesday afternoon drive in the City of London, a major business and financial centre with great views of the new 22 Bishopsgate office tower at the heart of the City of London. 🤍 The City of London continues to be one of the world's primary business centres, and a major meeting point for businesses worldwide. The City is a major business and financial centre. Throughout the 19th century, the City was the world's primary business centre, and it continues to be a major meeting point for businesses. London came top in the Worldwide Centres of Commerce Index, published in 2008. The insurance industry is focused around the eastern side of the City, around Lloyd's building. A secondary financial district exists outside the City, at Canary Wharf, 2.5 miles (4 km) to the east. The City of London is a city and county that contains the historic centre and the primary central business district (CBD) of London. It constituted most of London from its settlement by the Romans in the 1st century AD to the Middle Ages, but the agglomeration has since grown far beyond the City's borders. The City is now only a tiny part of the metropolis of London, though it remains a notable part of central London. Administratively, it forms one of the 33 local authority districts of Greater London; however, the City of London is not a London borough, a status reserved for the other 32 districts (including London's only other city, the City of Westminster). It is also a separate county of England, being an enclave surrounded by Greater London. It is the smallest county in the United Kingdom. The City of London is widely referred to simply as the City (differentiated from the phrase "the city of London" by capitalising City) and is also colloquially known as the Square Mile, as it is 1.12 sq mi (716.80 acres; 2.90 km2) in area. Both of these terms are also often used as metonyms for the United Kingdom's trading and financial services industries, which continue a notable history of being largely based in the City. The name London is now ordinarily used for a far wider area than just the City. London most often denotes the sprawling London metropolis, or the 32 London boroughs, in addition to the City of London itself. This wider usage of London is documented as far back as 1888, when the County of London was created. The City has a resident population of 9,401 (ONS estimate, mid-2016) but over 300,000 people commute to and work there. About three quarters of the jobs in the City of London are in the financial, professional, and associated business services sectors. The legal profession forms a major component of the northern and western sides of the City, especially in the Temple and Chancery Lane areas where the Inns of Court are located, of which two—Inner Temple and Middle Temple—fall within the City of London boundary. 🤍 🤍 🤍

First off, I would like to say how accommodating and nice the people employed there were. And photographers...have fun. (not like that snarky Shangra-La hotel across the river in the Shard who seem to loose all sense of proportion when one photographs the skyline.) The Sky Garden at 20 Fenchurch Street spans three floors and offers uninterrupted views across the City of London. Served by two express lifts, visitors arrive to a beautiful landscaped garden with a viewing area, terrace, café, bar and restaurant. The Sky Garden is a truly unique space and has been designed to create an open and vibrant place of leisure, offering visitors a rare chance to experience London from a different viewpoint.

Otis' Sky Build lifts, which climb up a building as it is built, are enabling the efficient construction of the 278-metre-tall Twentytwo skyscraper in London's financial district. Designed by London-based PLP Architecture and developed by AXA Investment Managers – Real Assets in partnership with Lipton Rogers Developments, the 62-storey tower will be the tallest building in the City of London when it completes in 2019. The skyscraper will be occupied by 12,000 office workers, who will have access to a fresh food market, gym with London's first climbing window 125 metres above the ground, business club and bike park. Twentytwo will also have a public viewing gallery. Two of Otis' Sky Build lifts were installed at the site at the beginning of construction and have been used throughout the build. They will even remain in the building when it completes.
