TM Krishna performed two compositions in Raga Anandabhairavi that bookended a very subtle and sensitively performed thani avarthanam by Arunprakash Krishnan on mridangam and Guru Prasad on ghatam. The first composition was "Azhudhen" penned by the great Perumal Murugan. The second composition, "O Jagadamba" was by Shyama Sastri.

TM Krishna was the headlining artiste on Day 2 of the FEA-curated CROSSROADS festival in Chennai. He began his recital with a Shyama Sastri composition, "O Jagadamba" in Raga Anandabhairavi. Krishna was accompanied by RK Shriramkumar on violin, KV Prasad on mridangam and BS Purushotham on kanjira. Tanpura and supporting vocals were provided by his disciples Vignesh Krishnamurthy, Vidhya Raghavan, Rithvik Raja and Vignesh Ishwar.

Jayanthi Kumaresh’s veena is gently electrified and produces an uncompromised tone best suited for large concert halls that require amplification. Her approach to a raga is sublime, adhering to gayaki (vocal music style), is tradition-bound and yet pregnant with the spry of a contemporary artist. But her gently electrified version produces a strikingly guitaristic tone, igniting Carnatic classical melodies with sweeping bends. She started playing aged three, and learned under her mother Lalgudi Rajalakshmi, before leaving home aged 13 to study with her aunt Padmavathy Ananthagopalan. She also received instruction from her great-uncle, violinist Lalgudi Jayaraman, and noted veenai S Balachander. A few years later she became one of the youngest artists to receive an All India Radio ‘A’ grading, earned a doctorate in veena history, and founded the Indian National Orchestra, uniting musicians from India’s classical traditions in a large ensemble. On recent recordings she has experimented with recording seven layers of veena on top of each other, and continues to write for dance and film. Suswaralaya College Of Music® headed by Ganakalashree Vid H S Sudhindra hit a major milestone recently, completing 20 meaningful years of service to the field of Carnatic music. To celebrate the same, a grand music festival was organized at Pathi Sabhangana, N R Colony from November 1st to 4th. On Day 2: Grand Violin Duet By Legendary Mysore Brothers - Ganakalabhushana Vid Sri Mysore M Nagaraj and Ganakalabhushana Dr Mysore M Manjunath Accompanied by - Mridangam Maestro Vid Arjun Kumar Khanjira Maestro Vid B S Purushottham A huge number of rasikas gathered witnessed an outstanding violin duet concert by the very popular Violin Maestros Vid Mysore M Nagaraj and Vid Dr Mysore M Manjunath. They were accompanied by equally adept percussion maestros Vid Arjun Kumar and Vid B S Purushotham. The brothers started their concert with the famous Abhogi varna Evaribodha followed by a meditative Nasikabhushani raga and Thyagaraja’s Maara Vairi Ramani with splendid swaras. Then came a chaste alapana of Anandabhairavi raga for Shyama Sastry’s master piece Marivere gatiyevvaramma followed by enchanting swaras. A crisp Manasuloni marmamulu(Hindola) with spellbound kalpana swaras brought the audience to the edge of their seats. Then came the majestic kambodhi alapana followed by Dikshithar’s evergreen Marakathavalli thrilled the gathering. Ragamalika swaras in Neelambari, Vasantha Bhairavi and Behag was followed by an exceptional thani avarthana by the percussion duo. The concert ended with a wonderful tillana.
