For more info - 🤍 🤍 🤍 Toto were formed in LA in the late 70's by a group of friends who were all much in demand session musicians. They went on to epitomise the classic American pop/rock sound of the 80's and 90's with hit albums and singles including Hold The Line, Africa, I Won't Hold You Back and the multi-Grammy winning Rosanna. Live In Amsterdam was recorded in front of a fanatical crowd in 2003 during the world tour in support of their album "Through The Looking Glass". The set includes all their hits, tracks from that album together with live favourites. This track is from the full concert DVD "Live in Amsterdam", available now from Eagle Vision.

Saint Louis happens to be the homeland, where you will find the original Jollof Rice, known locally as Thieboudienne. Today we have the privilege to see the full process of making jollof rice, one of West Africa’s best foods! I have great memories of when I was growing up and I had many friends from West Africa. Occasionally they would come to school with homemade jollof rice - and I remember my first taste which was love at first bite. Something about the spices, tomato rice, and tender meat or fish, garlic and chilies, all combined to make one of the most comforting foods known. You will find versions of jollof rice throughout West Africa and all of Africa, but Senegal, and specifically Saint Louis is the birthplace of jollof rice and where you’ll find the original version. Throughout West Africa you’ll find jollof rice cooked with a variety of meats, but in Senegal it’s most common with fish. We were invited to a local family home and they cooked the entire process of jollof rice (thieboudienne) from start to finish. It’s an incredibly complicated dish with dozens of ingredients, herbs, and seasoning. I loved all the different vegetables like the bitter eggplants and the hibiscus leaves and tamarind. Once all the vegetables and fish are cooked in the tomato paste, they are taken out and the rice is cooked within the liquid. Additionally she made an amazing sauce of onions and carrots and tomato sauce and chilies. Once all the ingredients were ready, the jollof rice are assembled on communal eating platters with rice on the bottom, all the vegetables and fish on top, and extra onion sauce sprinkled on top. I can say it was the best jollof rice (thieboudienne) I’ve had in my life! Later we went on a horse cart tour of Saint Louis and visited the amazing fishing village along the Atlantic coast. People were cool and the atmosphere was lively and vibrant. Another incredible day in Senegal, West Africa! Check out all the places seen in this video: 🤍 Home to much more than just safaris and the pyramids, Africa is both the second-largest and second most-populous continent on Earth. While beautiful beaches and rugged cliffs line its long coastline, its vast interior encompasses everything from mountains and deserts to tropical rainforests and the Nile river. Home to a vast array of different cultures and languages, Africa offers an intoxicating mix of old and new, as many of its age-old traditions and customs still survive to this day. Here’s a look at the best countries to visit in Africa:
I will never forget what I saw in Burundi! William #Ruto, #Kenya's new president, granted an #interview to FRANCE 24's Marc Perelman on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York. Ruto warned that the worst drought in 40 years risks causing starvation in the Horn of Africa, adding that "3.1 million people are facing severe drought" in Kenya alone. "This is no longer a country-by-country challenge. This is becoming a multilateral challenge," he insisted, calling on multilateral institutions and lenders for support. Ruto blamed climate change for the drought but stressed that the situation had been exacerbated by the war in Ukraine and the resulting fall in grain exports to #Africa. 🤍 🔔 Subscribe to France 24 now: 🤍 🔴 LIVE - Watch FRANCE 24 English 24/7 here: 🤍 🌍 Read the latest International News and Top Stories: 🤍 Like us on Facebook: 🤍 Follow us on Twitter: 🤍 Discover the news in pictures on Instagram: 🤍

I don't even know what to say in my descriptions anymore because it just keeps on getting worse and worse. In this Rugby Championship Game of South Africa vs Argentina, there was so many incidents where the ref blindly made calls and just made up stuff in crucial moments. The first being the try that Eben Etzebeth scores at the start of the game. That was such an obvious try, but for some reason the ref just made up stuff without evidence. Eben clearly holds onto the ball and has both his hands on the ball during the entire sequence, Siya was never in possession of the ball when Eben took it and scored. So they go the TMO and what happened there was just absurd. The replays show the same story, it shows Eben clearly having possession throughout, and Siya not having it. Yet for some reason I will never know, the ref says Siya has possession, despite the video evidence not showing Siya touching the ball. So I would really love to know how Damon Murphy can say Siya has possession when the video evidence clearly showed otherwise. How on earth is he allowed to get away with that? Anybody watching that replay saw exactly the same thing, Eben has possession and he takes the ball and scores a try. Yet Damn Murphy and Chris Hart, the TMO, made stuff up to disallow the try. Then there was the Eben Etzebeth Yellow card, another case of the Ref and TMO just making stuff up to give Eben a yellow card. The video clearly shows Eben pushing Argentina 6, but it also shows that the player that was pushed never had any impact on the jumper. What happened was Argentina 9 runs into his own player, which impacted him jumping and made him fall badly. Yet for some reason we'll probably never know, the ref and TMO says Eben pushed Argentina 6 into Moodie, who then pushes Argentina 9 into their jumper. Which absolutely never happened. They literally made that up because the video evidence showed Argentina 9 runs into the jumper way before Moodie got touched by the pushed Argentina player. That was an absolute joke of a decision. Then there were other stuff like the Argentina player not rolling away which leads to Faf knocking the ball on as he tries to play the ball. This happens in front of the ref and he ignores the player not rolling away, and gives Argentina the scrum. Directly afterwards in the scrum, the tighthead prop of Argentina collapses in front of the ref, who just ignores it and goes on to penalize Faf de Klerk. This is just becoming a joke. The fact that these officials get paid for being trash, is a joke.

Ethiopia is one of Africa’s most beautiful and fascinating countries, and a surprising travel destination. From spectacular mountain landscapes and national parks to vast lakes and mysterious deserts. From incredible wildlife to intriguing historic landmarks. From vibrant, fast growing cities to small villages and tribal regions, steeped in culture and traditions. In this documentary style video, I will show you 10 beautiful places I visited, on a one-month journey through Ethiopia in 2019. I remember the smiles and welcoming attitude of the people, the incredible food, remarkable monuments, the stunning natural and urban landscapes. In all fairness, this was one of my best travels yet. Sadly, however, at the time of editing this video, Ethiopia is in political and military conflict with the Northern Tigray region, which is causing great suffering to ordinary civilians. Like most people, I hope the relevant authorities can come to an agreement soon, and start rebuilding this beautiful land. As a result of the conflict, some of the places in this video are currently inaccessible due to high security concerns. Always follow travel advice and consult local guides, to avoid putting yourself and others at risk. The awe-inspiring monolithic churches are the highlight here, but meeting the many pilgrims is equally, if not more, rewarding. After Lalibela, we venture to the mysterious Danakil Depression, one of the hottest and most inhospitable places on Earth. It’s a bizarre desert landscape, with salt lakes, volcanoes, sulfur springs, and acidic pools. It feels like true adventure travel, but can only be done with experienced tour companies and guides. The rock-hewn churches of the Tigray region are something unique, and Abuna Yemata Guh may be the most special of them all. This place of worship can only be reached on a steep and sometimes terrifying hike, but rewards travelers with incredible views, and a serene and peaceful atmosphere. The site is managed by several clergymen and priests. The spectacular Simien mountains offer some of Africa’s best chances for hikes and longer treks, and are also home to the gelada baboons, nicknamed as ‘bleeding heart monkeys’. They live in troops and can live high in the mountains. After spending some time in the nature, we continue our journey in Gondar, a friendly city with stunning historic monuments. Perhaps even more impressive is Aksum, with some of Ethiopia’s most iconic historic and religious sites, such as the towering obelisks (or stelea), and the Church of Saint Mary of Zion (which, according to legend, is the hiding place of the Ark of the Covenant, in a small chapel). Addis Ababa is often overlooked by travelers, who rush themselves to the North and South of the country. But the vibrant capital city is an interesting place to spend a couple of days, and serves as a good introduction to Ethiopian culture and food. There are some great areas to be visited, including the famous Mercato, the largest market in Africa. After Addis, we travel to the South of Ethiopia, which feels very different in many ways. The first stop here is Arba Minch, known for its wonderful Nechisar national park. Here, you can take boat trips on one of Ethiopia’s largest lakes, and spot crocodiles, pelicans, hippos, baboons and other wildlife. The Dorze village is not far from here, and offers a peak into traditional village life. Its friendly inhabitants have created a sustainable form of tourism, and visitors can witness (and take part in) the local economy at work, with cotton weaving, pottery, coffee ceremonies, bread production, and much more. We finish this journey in the Omo Valley, which is home to many different ethnicities and tribes. It’s important to travel with local guides here, as these destinations often risk turning into so called ‘human safaris’. While tourism can have a positive effect on people’s lives, it’s crucial that it happens in a respectful and meaningful way.
The Democratic Republic of the Congo is a vast, mineral rich country the size of Western Europe. Alastair Leithead takes an epic journey from the Atlantic Ocean to the far reaches of the Congo river to explore how history has shaped the Congo of today and uncover the lesser told stories of this beautiful, if troubled country. In the largest rainforest outside of the Amazon he comes face to face with its gorillas and hunts with pygmies, he travels into the heart of the Ebola outbreak with United Nations peacekeepers, and explores the cobalt mines which will drive our electric cars of the future. How centuries of division built one of the most unequal countries on earth. Subscribe to our channel and turn on notifications (🔔) 🤍 For decades, South Africa was under apartheid: a series of laws that divided people by race. Then, in the 1990s, those laws were dismantled. But many of the barriers they created continue to divide South Africans by skin color - which in turn determines their quality of life, access to jobs, and wealth. Racial division was built into the fabric of cities throughout South Africa, and it still hasn't been uprooted. That's partly because, while apartheid was the culmination of South Africa's racial divisions, it wasn't the beginning of them. That story starts closer to the 1800s, when the British built a network of railroads that transformed the region's economy into one that excluded most Black people and then made that exclusion the law. South Africa is in the grip of an electricity shortage. The state power company Eskom recently implemented what it calls Stage Six of power cuts - or load shedding, as it is known locally.
