The MK 38 (M242 Bushmaster) is a 25 mm (25×137mm) chain-driven machine gun system (MGS) installed for ship self-defense. A derivative of the M242 system, the Mk 38 consists of the M242 chain gun and the Mk 88 Mod 0 machine gun mount. The MK 38 MOD 0 25 mm MGS replaced the MK 16 20 mm gun system and was then upgraded to a MK 38 MOD 1 MGS. Designed primarily as a close-range defensive measure, it provides protection against patrol boats, floating mines, and various shore-based targets. It is an externally powered, chain-driven, single-barrel weapon which may be fired in semi-automatic, burst, or automatic modes. It is fed by a metallic link belt and has dual-feed capability. The term "chain gun" derives from the use of a roller chain that drives the bolt back and forth. The standard rate of fire is 200 rounds per minute. The weapon has an effective range of 3,000 metres (9,800 ft), depending on the type of ammunition used. 🤍 🤍 Cool Forgotten Weapons merch! 🤍 After World War One, the French military set up a program to modernize all of its weaponry, and that included a replacement for the Mle 1916 light infantry cannon. An anti-tank gun had not been necessary during the Great War, as Germany never fielded tanks in substantial numbers - but as a pioneer of the modern tank, the French recognized the need for a good AT gun. Taking a lesson from World War One, they wanted a light gun that was flexible and mobile, easily moved around the battlefield and easily concealed from enemy fire. A 25mm cartridge was specified, and both the Hotchkiss company and the Puteaux arsenal created guns to use it. Both were adopted into service, with the Hotchkiss Mle 1934 being a bit heavier and the Puteaux Mle 1937 being a bit lighter, at only about 600 pounds. The Puteaux gun was quite small, easily moved by a horse or virtually any motorized vehicle. It had a long barrel and the 25mm AP projectile had a muzzle velocity of about 3150 fps, making it quite effective on the light and medium tanks of the 1930s. It was also remarkably accurate, and the long barrel and flash hider gave it a very small firing signature. Aiming was done with either a 4x magnified optic or a set of backup iron sights. A total of 1285 of these guns were made before the armistice of June 1940, and they served ably in the Battle of France. A few were also used by the British before Dunkirk, and after the armistice they were used by German forces in limited numbers, and also supplied to Spain and Finland as military aid (this particular one has a Finnish property tag on it). Thanks to DriveTanks.com in Uvalde Texas for giving me access to film this Puteaux cannon for you! Contact: Forgotten Weapons 6281 N. Oracle #36270 Tucson, AZ 85740

U.S. Sailors fire 25mm rounds from the Mk 38 Mod 1 Automatic Machine Gun System during a live fire gunnery exercise. The Mk 38 is the naval version of the M242 system. The Mk 38 consists of the M242 chain gun and the Mk 88 Mod 0 machine gun mount. It provides ships with defensive and offensive gunfire capability for the engagement of a variety of surface targets such as patrol boats, floating mines, and various shore-based targets.

Check out my website at 🤍 - Southwest Florida Photographer BUY The Olympus 25mm f/1.8 HERE: SILVER; 🤍 BLACK; 🤍 TAKE ADVANTAGE OF B&H PHOTO'S DAILY DEALS HERE; 🤍 CONCLUSION: CONCLUSION:OK, it's that time again, time to wrap up this review of the Olympus 25m f/1.8 - it goes like this, in a nutshell; THE BUILD QUALITY: It's about the only thing worth critiquing with this lens, like the 45mm f/1.8 it's put together really well, but the quality of the materials are just meh, kinda plasticy... The lens hood is a bit awkward to put on as you have to remove this ring before you put it on there, and this ring is just begging to get lost or misplaced. The lens hood itself is kind of brittle, and I feel like it could crack or split under some pressure. But at least the lens hood is actually included this time, that said as I mentioned before, I'd almost be willing to pay $50 - $100 more for better build as just about everything else about the lens is what you'd expect from much more expensive lenses. For build, we gave it a 7.5/10 AF SPEED AND ACCURACY: Really, really fast, completely silent and deadly accurate. It's a killer combination, there's really not a whole lot more you can say about the AF Speed and accuracy, we gave it a 10/10 OPTICAL QUALITY AND THE QUALITY OF THE RESULTS: Stunning, amazing, sharp, contrasty, excellent color rendition. It's not the sharpest of Oly's line of primes, but it's right up there, that award goes to the 75 f/1.8, of course that lens is more than twice as expensive as the 25. You can pull off some simply amazing images and videos with the 25. We gave it a 9.5 for Optical Quality and a 10 for the quality of the results. VALUE: Olympus has another winner on it's hands as the 25 is a very useful "normal" focal length, the company has done a great job brining high quality, value priced optics to market. The 25 is no exception! At $399 you'd be really hard pressed to find this combination of quality, focus speed and optics. On the downside is the build quality - not the way it's put together - just the materials used, and though I'm glad they included a lens hood this time, I just wish it were a better grade of plastic. But those nits aside, the 25 is an amazing value, and easily gets a 10/10. OVERALL: the 25 gets a 47/50 and earns our Highly Recommended rating! THE FINAL WORD: If you need a value priced 50mm equivalent for your M43 body then look no further than the Olympus 25mm f/1.8. It's a tremendous combination of optics, af speed, and at $399 its just a great value! My only nit is the build quality, but if you're going to keep your prices this low for quality this high, then you have to sacrifice something, Olympus sacrificed the quality of the materials used - so enjoy this stellar lens, but just don't drop it :-) You could probably say that for a lot of lenses, but especially this one :-)This is Darren Miles with Darren Miles photography based here in beautiful sunny Naples, FL, before I wrap this up, just a couple things, first if you like these reviews, then please don't forget to "subscribe" - and second, every time I review an m43 lens, one of the most common questions that I receive is, where did you get that really cool lens strap? Well, i originally found it via a great mirror less website run by a guy named Steve huff, I don't know Steve, but he has a really great mirror less and Leica centric website, you can find that site at 🤍stevehuffphoto.com - anyway, he told me about Barton Strap out of Hong Kong, they have a variety of these straps for all kinds of cameras, and that site can be found at 🤍Barton1972.com and with that, thanks so much for watching, and until the next time.... Happy Shooting!

Back looking at just how some compact lenses *look* on a Fujifilm X-Pro body, this time looking at the new (September 2022) TTArtisan 25mm f2 lens. A slim / pancake profile lens (comparable to Fuji's 27mm f2.8) at a very low price ($55 USD!). Includes looking at the $10 USD TTArtisan square lens hood for 43mm thread mounts. Don't mind my talking. Just fast forward through and look at the lens as it sits on the body. This was an unexpected release and very unexpected price. One of the smallest and cheapest lenses (of decent quality) for X mount and other APS-C mounts. A few mediocre pictures at the end. I have not had the time to really shoot with this as I would like but it is so new and fits the theme of this series so neatly that I wanted to give it a show and get back on track after a trek.

When 7Artisan reached out and asked if I wanted to review anything in their lens line-up, the first thing that came to mind was testing one of their cinema lenses. I've always been fascinated with cine glass and wondered if I would notice any difference with regular photographic lenses. First thing is the build quality. Cine lenses are designed to be used, so this all-metal lens feels solid and well-built. Both the focus and aperture rings turn smoothly with the right amount of resistance, and the 13-blade aperture rings remain circular from wide open to completely stopped down. Enjoy my unboxing, first look, and some video tests. More tests coming up, but please let me know what sort of tests you want to see. Thanks to 7Artisans for sending me this lens. Surprisingly its pretty sharp wide open at f/0.95 and even at a distance I am still able to blur the background from my subject who is Ericca, special thanks to Ericca for helping me review this lens, this is her third time on Guam Photography :) Filmed on location: Mangilao, Guam Camera used to Film: Lumix S5 with Lumix 24-105mm f/4 Photographer: James Berry IG: 🤍 Model: Ericca Tomada IG: 🤍 Video Editor: Godfrey Mostales IG: 🤍 Filmed by: Godfrey Mostales IG: 🤍 James' website: 🤍jberry.co Godfrey's website: 🤍gspix.co Background Music: Song: Ooyy - Lepiten Falls Music provided by Epidemic Sound #photoshoot #laowa #portraitphotography
