Yep. That is how people get diabetes and pancreatitis as they age. It’s because they are almost always using Glucose as energy because we’ve been taught to eat a starchy sugar diet. It is Ketones that our bodies were meant to run on most of the time.

Hi Dr Gundry, thank you for all you do. I have lost 25 lb pretty effortlessly by following your program. I do have a question though.. if you're mitochondria perform a caloric bypass when they uncouple, does that mean that your nutrient intake is also bypassed? In other words do I have to increase the amount of total vitamin intake I in order to offset any nutrients being wasted in the process of uncoupling?
İn short, keto diet is dead which means using the word keto or ketogenic is just being stubbornly old fashioned

At least some of this is not making any sense. kjXoAGGgYAQ&t=12m00s 12:00 "99% of obese people are unable to burn fat in cells because of high insulin levels even when they go on a Keto diet." But I see an seemingly endless list of obese people saying they lost a lot of weight on Keto. And studies certainly show obese people losing weight on Keto.
Also the whole mitochondria "decoupling" is not making sense to me. I agree ketones aren't likely a super fuel. But things like mitochondria "wasting" fuel sounds really dumb and the explanation why it isn't dumb was even dumber. Mitochondria generate heat...OK, but it's like heat is wasted. It's not like peoples' body temperatures are increasing. Pretty sure our bodies burn the right amount of fuel to maintain our body temp in a very narrow range. Then he goes into why ketones aren't used by every type of cell...which yeah, but that has nothing to do with mitochondria wasting fuel.
Then there are all these analogies...cars. balloons, dog sheds. Why not stick to the science. I'm feeling more manipulated than informed. Selling books.
I'll wait to see if other scientists back up any of this.

Is there a 5 week eating plan? Is Buffalo cheese, milk as good as sheep and goat?
