This will not bring new life on your old laptop , this is a far worse fate than recycling it ! lol
Tried chrome os flex it sucks completely obviously hardware support is not good and in my case network speed was slow as hell , also its not a fast operating system if you want something that would run well on your old machine then go with linux or bsd or why not android ?

- So what Chrome OS brings to the table when compared to linux ? (it is based on linux)
I think it might be the hardware acceleration (vaapi) that they have enabled at least on intel igpus that i have tested which can play demanding 60fps videos on crappy pcs.

Other than that its just a crippled and slow linux distro that will have to spend your ass on online applications/services to do the same you can do for free on linux.

Cloudready's chromium os was something good but i don't know about this, also google blatantly saying that they won't support older devices !

Personally, I would never let this spyware infested OS anywhere near a computer in my household or business. It'd be interesting to see how much telemetry Flex sends out when compared to Windows 10 and 11.

As of now the Chrome OS Flex (Unstable) has been changed to Chrome OS Flex as it's now out of beta. Do note that if you try to install this on a machine with multiple platters, you have no control over which platters it uses which it will completely wipe.
